1 Jeesus rupesi taas puhumaan heille vertauksilla ja sanoi:

2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,

3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.

4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 Mutta he eivät siitä välittäneet, vaan menivät pois, mikä pellolleen, mikä liiketoimilleen.
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.

6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.

7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 Menkää siis teiden risteyksiin ja kutsukaa häihin, keitä tapaatte.'
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 Palvelijat menivät ulos teille ja kokosivat kaikki, keitä vain tapasivat, sekä pahat että hyvät, ja häähuone tuli täyteen pöytävieraita.
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
11 Mutta kun kuningas meni katsomaan pöytävieraita, hän näki siellä miehen, joka ei ollut pukeutunut häävaatteisiin.
11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 Hän sanoi hänelle: 'Ystävä, kuinka olet tullut tänne sisälle, vaikka sinulla ei ole häävaatteita?' Mutta hän jäi sanattomaksi.
12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 Silloin kuningas sanoi palvelijoille: 'Sitokaa hänen jalkansa ja kätensä ja heittäkää hänet ulos pimeyteen.' Siellä on oleva itku ja hammasten kiristys.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 Sillä monet ovat kutsutut, mutta harvat valitut."
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Silloin fariseukset menivät ja neuvottelivat, kuinka saisivat hänet sanoissa kiedotuksi.

16 He lähettivät hänen luokseen opetuslapsensa herodeslaisten kanssa sanomaan: "Opettaja, tiedämme, että olet totuudellinen ja opetat Jumalan tietä totuudessa kenestäkään välittämättä, sillä et katso henkilöön.
16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 Sano siis meille: miten arvelet? Onko luvallista antaa keisarille veroa vai ei?"
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 Mutta Jeesus ymmärsi heidän pahuutensa ja sanoi: "Miksi kiusaatte minua, te tekopyhät?
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 Näyttäkää minulle veroraha." Niin he toivat hänelle denaarin.
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 Hän sanoi heille: "Kenen kuva ja päällekirjoitus tämä on?"
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 He vastasivat: "Keisarin." Silloin hän sanoi heille: "Antakaa siis keisarille, mikä keisarin on, ja Jumalalle, mikä Jumalan on."
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 Kun he sen kuulivat, he ihmettelivät ja jättivät hänet ja menivät pois.
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 Sinä päivänä hänen luokseen tuli saddukeuksia, jotka sanovat, ettei ylösnousemusta ole, ja he kysyivät häneltä

25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.

26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 Viimeiseksi kaikista kuoli vaimo.
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 Kenen vaimo noista seitsemästä hän siis on oleva ylösnousemuksessa? Sillä kaikkien vaimona hän on ollut."
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 Jeesus vastasi ja sanoi heille: "Eksytte, koska ette tunne Kirjoituksia ettekä Jumalan voimaa.
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 Sillä ylösnousemuksessa ei oteta vaimoa eikä anneta vaimoksi, vaan he ovat kuin Jumalan enkelit taivaassa.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
31 Mutta mitä kuolleiden ylösnousemukseen tulee, ettekö ole lukeneet, mitä Jumala on puhunut teille sanoen:
31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:
32 'Minä olen Aabrahamin Jumala ja Iisakin Jumala ja Jaakobin Jumala'? Hän ei ole kuolleiden Jumala, vaan elävien."
32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.
33 Sen kuultuaan kansa hämmästyi hänen oppiaan.

37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.
38 Tämä on suurin ja ensimmäinen käsky.

42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!
43 Hän sanoi heille: "Kuinka sitten Daavid Hengessä kutsuu häntä Herraksi, sanoen:
43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:
44 'Herra sanoi minun Herralleni: Istu minun oikealle puolelleni, kunnes panen vihollisesi jalkojesi astinlaudaksi.'
44 O Senhor disse a meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés {Sl 109,1}?
45 Jos siis Daavid kutsuu häntä Herraksi, kuinka hän on hänen poikansa?"
45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
46 Kukaan ei voinut vastata hänelle sanaakaan, eikä siitä päivästä lähtien yksikään uskaltanut kysyä häneltä enää mitään.
