¹ 'Then shall the reign of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom;

¹ Então o reino dos céus será semelhante a dez virgens que, tomando as suas lâmpadas, saíram ao encontro do esposo.

² and five of them were prudent, and five foolish;

² E cinco delas eram prudentes, e cinco loucas.

³ they who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil;

³ As loucas, tomando as suas lâmpadas, não levaram azeite consigo.

⁴ and the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps.

⁴ Mas as prudentes levaram azeite em suas vasilhas, com as suas lâmpadas.

⁵ 'And the bridegroom tarrying, they all nodded and were sleeping,

⁵ E, tardando o esposo, tosquenejaram todas, e adormeceram.

⁶ and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Lo, the bridegroom does come; go you forth to meet him.

⁶ Mas à meia-noite ouviu-se um clamor: Aí vem o esposo, saí-lhe ao encontro.

⁷ 'Then rose all those virgins, and trimmed their lamps,

⁷ Então todas aquelas virgens se levantaram, e prepararam as suas lâmpadas.

⁸ and the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;

⁸ E as loucas disseram às prudentes: Dai-nos do vosso azeite, porque as nossas lâmpadas se apagam.

⁹ and the prudent answered, saying -- Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go you rather unto those selling, and buy for yourselves.

⁹ Mas as prudentes responderam, dizendo: Não seja caso que nos falte a nós e a vós, ide antes aos que o vendem, e comprai-o para vós.

¹⁰ 'And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the marriage-feasts, and the door was shut;

¹⁰ E, tendo elas ido comprá-lo, chegou o esposo, e as que estavam preparadas entraram com ele para as bodas, e fechou-se a porta.

¹¹ and afterwards come also do the rest of the virgins, saying, Sir, sir, open to us;

¹¹ E depois chegaram também as outras virgens, dizendo: Senhor, Senhor, abre-nos.

¹² and he answering said, Verily I say to you, I have not known you.

¹² E ele, respondendo, disse: Em verdade vos digo que vos não conheço.

¹³ 'Watch therefore, for you have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man does come.

¹³ Vigiai, pois, porque não sabeis o dia nem a hora em que o Filho do homem há de vir.

¹⁴ 'For -- as a man going abroad did call his own servants, and did deliver to them his substance,

¹⁴ Porque isto é também como um homem que, partindo para fora da terra, chamou os seus servos, e entregou-lhes os seus bens.

¹⁵ and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately.

¹⁵ E a um deu cinco talentos, e a outro dois, e a outro um, a cada um segundo a sua capacidade, e ausentou-se logo para longe.

¹⁶ 'And he who did receive the five talents, having gone, wrought with them, and made other five talents;

¹⁶ E, tendo ele partido, o que recebera cinco talentos negociou com eles, e granjeou outros cinco talentos.

¹⁷ in like manner also he whoreceived the two, he gained, also he, other two;

¹⁷ Da mesma sorte, o que recebera dois, granjeou também outros dois.

¹⁸ and he who did receive the one, having gone away, digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

¹⁸ Mas o que recebera um, foi e cavou na terra e escondeu o dinheiro do seu senhor.

¹⁹ 'And after a long time comes the lord of those servants, and takes reckoning with them;

¹⁹ E muito tempo depois veio o senhor daqueles servos, e fez contas com eles.

²⁰ and he who did receive the five talents having come, brought other five talents, saying, 'Sir, five talents you did deliver to me; lo, other five talents did I gain besides them.

²⁰ Então aproximou-se o que recebera cinco talentos, e trouxe-lhe outros cinco talentos, dizendo: Senhor, entregaste-me cinco talentos; eis aqui outros cinco talentos que granjeei com eles.

²¹ 'And his lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things you wast faithful, over many things I will set you; enter into the joy of your lord.

²¹ E o seu senhor lhe disse: Bem está, servo bom e fiel. Sobre o pouco foste fiel, sobre muito te colocarei; entra no gozo do teu senhor.

²² 'And he who also did receive the two talents having come, said, Sir, two talents you did deliver to me; lo, other two talents I did gain besides them.

²² E, chegando também o que tinha recebido dois talentos, disse: Senhor, entregaste-me dois talentos; eis que com eles granjeei outros dois talentos.

²³ 'His lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things you wast faithful, over many things I will set you; enter into the joy of your lord.

²³ Disse-lhe o seu senhor: Bem está, bom e fiel servo. Sobre o pouco foste fiel, sobre muito te colocarei; entra no gozo do teu senhor.

²⁴ 'And he also who has received the one talent having come, said, Sir, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering from where you did not scatter;

²⁴ Mas, chegando também o que recebera um talento, disse: Senhor, eu conhecia-te, que és um homem duro, que ceifas onde não semeaste e ajuntas onde não espalhaste;

²⁵ and having been afraid, having gone away, I hid your talent in the earth; lo, you have your own!

²⁵ E, atemorizado, escondi na terra o teu talento; aqui tens o que é teu.

²⁶ 'And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, you hadst known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather from where I did not scatter!

²⁶ Respondendo, porém, o seu senhor, disse-lhe: Mau e negligente servo; sabias que ceifo onde não semeei e ajunto onde não espalhei?

²⁷ It behoved you then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received mine own with increase.

²⁷ Devias então ter dado o meu dinheiro aos banqueiros e, quando eu viesse, receberia o meu com os juros.

²⁸ 'Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents,

²⁸ Tirai-lhe pois o talento, e dai-o ao que tem os dez talentos.

²⁹ for to every one having shall be given, and he shall have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he has shall be taken from him;

²⁹ Porque a qualquer que tiver será dado, e terá em abundância; mas ao que não tiver até o que tem ser-lhe-á tirado.

³⁰ and the unprofitable servant cast you forth to the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

³⁰ Lançai, pois, o servo inútil nas trevas exteriores; ali haverá pranto e ranger de dentes.

³¹ 'And whenever the Son of Man may come in his glory, and all the holy messengers with him, then he shall sit upon a throne of his glory;

³¹ E quando o Filho do homem vier em sua glória, e todos os santos anjos com ele, então se assentará no trono da sua glória;

³² and gathered together before him shall be all the nations, and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd does separate the sheep from the goats,

³² E todas as nações serão reunidas diante dele, e apartará uns dos outros, como o pastor aparta dos bodes as ovelhas;

³³ and he shall set the sheep indeed on his right hand, and the goats on the left.

³³ E porá as ovelhas à sua direita, mas os bodes à esquerda.

³⁴ 'Then shall the king say to those on his right hand, Come you, the blessed of my Father, inherit the reign that has been prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

³⁴ Então dirá o Rei aos que estiverem à sua direita: Vinde, benditos de meu Pai, possuí por herança o reino que vos está preparado desde a fundação do mundo;

³⁵ for I did hunger, and you gave me to eat; I did thirst, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you received me;

³⁵ Porque tive fome, e destes-me de comer; tive sede, e destes-me de beber; era estrangeiro, e hospedastes-me;

³⁶ naked, and you put around me; I was infirm, and you looked after me; in prison I was, and you came unto me.

³⁶ Estava nu, e vestistes-me; adoeci, e visitastes-me; estive na prisão, e foste me ver.

³⁷ 'Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungering, and we nourished? Or thirsting, and we gave to drink?

³⁷ Então os justos lhe responderão, dizendo: Senhor, quando te vimos com fome, e te demos de comer? ou com sede, e te demos de beber?

³⁸ And when did we see you a stranger, and we received? Or naked, and we put around?

³⁸ E quando te vimos estrangeiro, e te hospedamos? ou nu, e te vestimos?

³⁹ And when did we see you infirm, or in prison, and we came unto you?

³⁹ E quando te vimos enfermo, ou na prisão, e fomos ver-te?

⁴⁰ 'And the king answering, shall say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you didit to one of these my brethren -- the least -- to me you did it.

⁴⁰ E, respondendo o Rei, lhes dirá: Em verdade vos digo que quando o fizestes a um destes meus pequeninos irmãos, a mim o fizestes.

⁴¹ Then shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go you from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that has been prepared for the Devil and his messengers;

⁴¹ Então dirá também aos que estiverem à sua esquerda: Apartai-vos de mim, malditos, para o fogo eterno, preparado para o diabo e seus anjos;

⁴² for I did hunger, and you gave me not to eat; I did thirst, and you gave me not to drink;

⁴² Porque tive fome, e não me destes de comer; tive sede, e não me destes de beber;

⁴³ a stranger I was, and you did not receive me; naked, and you put not around me; infirm, and in prison, and you did not look after me.

⁴³ Sendo estrangeiro, não me recolhestes; estando nu, não me vestistes; e enfermo, e na prisão, não me visitastes.

⁴⁴ 'Then shall they answer, they also, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or infirm, or in prison, and we did not minister to you?

⁴⁴ Então eles também lhe responderão, dizendo: Senhor, quando te vimos com fome, ou com sede, ou estrangeiro, ou nu, ou enfermo, ou na prisão, e não te servimos?

⁴⁵ 'Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you didit not to one of these, the least, you did it not to me.

⁴⁵ Então lhes responderá, dizendo: Em verdade vos digo que, quando a um destes pequeninos o não fizestes, não o fizestes a mim.

⁴⁶ And these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.'

⁴⁶ E irão estes para o tormento eterno, mas os justos para a vida eterna.
