¹ And he said unto the disciples, 'It is impossible for the stumbling blocks not to come, but woo to him through whom they come;

¹ Jesus disse aos seus discípulos:

² it is more profitable to him if a weighty millstone is put round about his neck, and he has been cast into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to stumble.

² Seria melhor para esse que uma pedra de moinho fosse pendurada ao seu pescoço e fosse atirado no mar do que fazer tropeçar um destes pequeninos.

³ 'Take heed to yourselves, and, if your brother may sin in regard to you, rebuke him, and if he may reform, forgive him,

³ — Tenham cuidado. Se o seu irmão pecar, repreenda-o; se ele se arrepender, perdoe-lhe.

⁴ and if seven times in the day he may sin against you, and seven times in the day may turn back to you, saying, I reform; you shall forgive him.'

⁴ Se pecar contra você sete vezes num dia e sete vezes vier para lhe dizer: “Estou arrependido”, perdoe-lhe.

⁵ And the apostles said to the Lord, 'Add to us faith;'

⁵ Então os apóstolos disseram ao Senhor: — Aumente-nos a fé.

⁶ and the Lord said, 'If you had faith as a grain of mustard, you would have said to this sycamine, Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.

⁶ Ao que o Senhor respondeu:

⁷ 'But, who is he of you -- having a servant ploughing or feeding -- who, to him having come in out of the field, will say, Having come near, recline at meat?

⁷ — Qual de vocês, tendo um servo ocupado na lavoura ou em guardar o gado, lhe dirá quando ele voltar do campo: “Venha agora mesmo e sente-se à mesa”?

⁸ but will notrather say to him, Prepare what I may sup, and having girded yourself about, minister to me, till I eat and drink, and after these things you shall eat and drink?

⁸ Não é verdade que, ao contrário, lhe dirá: “Prepare o meu jantar. Apronte-se e sirva-me enquanto eu como e bebo. Depois, você pode comer e beber”?

⁹ Has he favour to that servant because he did the things directed? I think not.

⁹ Será que ele terá de agradecer ao servo por ter feito o que lhe havia ordenado?

¹⁰ 'So also you, when you may have done all the things directed you, say -- We are unprofitable servants, because that which we owed to do -- we have done.'

¹⁰ Assim também vocês, depois de terem feito tudo o que lhes foi ordenado, digam: “Somos servos inúteis, porque fizemos apenas o que devíamos fazer.”

¹¹ And it came to pass, in his going on to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee,

¹¹ De caminho para Jerusalém, Jesus passava pelo meio de Samaria e da Galileia.

¹² and he entering into a certain village, there met him ten leprous men, who stood afar off,

¹² Ao entrar numa aldeia, saíram-lhe ao encontro dez leprosos,

¹³ and they lifted up the voice, saying, 'Jesus, master, deal kindly with us;'

¹³ que ficaram de longe e gritaram: — Jesus, Mestre, tenha compaixão de nós!

¹⁴ and having seen them, he said to them, 'Having gone on, show yourselves to the priests;' and it came to pass, in their going, they were cleansed,

¹⁴ Ao vê-los, Jesus disse: Aconteceu que, indo eles, foram purificados.

¹⁵ and one of them having seen that he was healed did turn back, with a loud voice glorifying God,

¹⁵ Um dos dez, vendo que estava curado, voltou dando glória a Deus em alta voz

¹⁶ and he fell upon his face at his feet, giving thanks to him, and he was a Samaritan.

¹⁶ e prostrou-se com o rosto em terra aos pés de Jesus, agradecendo-lhe. E este era samaritano.

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said, 'Were not the ten cleansed, and the nine -- where?

¹⁷ Então Jesus perguntou:

¹⁸ There were not found who did turn back to give glory to God, except this alien;'

¹⁸ Não se achou quem voltasse para dar glória a Deus, a não ser este estrangeiro?

¹⁹ and he said to him, 'Having risen, be going on, your faith has saved you.'

¹⁹ E lhe disse:

²⁰ And having been questioned by the Pharisees, when the reign of God does come, he answered them, and said, 'The reign of God does not come with observation;

²⁰ Indagado pelos fariseus sobre quando viria o Reino de Deus, Jesus lhes respondeu:

²¹ nor shall they say, Lo, here; or lo, there; for lo, the reign of God is within you.'

²¹ Nem dirão: “Ele está aqui!” Ou: “Lá está ele!” Porque o Reino de Deus está entre vocês.

²² And he said unto his disciples, 'Days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you shall not beholdit;

²² A seguir, Jesus disse aos seus discípulos:

²³ and they shall say to you, Lo, here; or lo, there; you may not go away, nor follow;

²³ E dirão a vocês: “Ele está aqui!” Ou: “Lá está ele!” Não saiam nem sigam essa gente.

²⁴ for as the lightning that is lightening out of the onepart under heaven, to the other part under heaven does shine, so shall be also the Son of Man in his day;

²⁴ Porque assim como o relâmpago, que resplandece e brilha de uma extremidade do céu até a outra, assim será, no seu dia, o Filho do Homem.

²⁵ and first it is necessary for him to suffer many things, and to be rejected by this generation.

²⁵ Mas é necessário que primeiro ele padeça muitas coisas e seja rejeitado por esta geração.

²⁶ 'And, as it came to pass in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man;

²⁶ Assim como foi nos dias de Noé, será também nos dias do Filho do Homem:

²⁷ they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the deluge came, and destroyed all;

²⁷ comiam, bebiam, casavam e davam-se em casamento, até o dia em que Noé entrou na arca, veio o dilúvio e destruiu todos.

²⁸ in like manner also, as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;

²⁸ O mesmo aconteceu nos dias de Ló: comiam, bebiam, compravam, vendiam, plantavam e edificavam;

²⁹ and on the day Lot went forth from Sodom, He rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed all.

²⁹ mas, no dia em que Ló saiu de Sodoma, choveu do céu fogo e enxofre e destruiu todos.

³⁰ 'According to these things it shall be, in the day the Son of Man is revealed;

³⁰ Assim será no dia em que o Filho do Homem se manifestar.

³¹ in that day, he who shall be on the house top, and his vessels in the house, let him not come down to take them away; and he in the field, in like manner, let him not turn backward;

³¹ — Naquele dia, quem estiver no terraço e tiver os seus bens em casa não desça para tirá-los; e, de igual modo, quem estiver no campo não volte para trás.

³² remember the wife of Lot.

³² Lembrem-se da mulher de Ló.

³³ Whoever may seek to save his life, shall lose it; and whoever may lose it, shall preserve it.

³³ Quem tentar preservar a sua vida a perderá; e quem a perder, esse a salvará.

³⁴ 'I say to you, In that night, there shall be two men on one couch, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left;

³⁴ Digo a vocês que, naquela noite, duas pessoas estarão numa cama: uma será levada, e a outra será deixada.

³⁵ two women shall be grinding at the same place together, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left;

³⁵ Duas mulheres estarão juntas moendo trigo: uma será tomada, e a outra será deixada.

³⁶ two men shall be in the field, the one shall be taken, and the other left.'

³⁶ [Dois estarão no campo: um será tomado, e o outro será deixado.]

³⁷ And they answering say to him, 'Where, sir?' and he said to them, 'Where the bodyis, there will the eagles be gathered together.'

³⁷ Então perguntaram a Jesus: — Onde será isso, Senhor? Ele respondeu:
