¹ And as they are speaking unto the people, there came to them the priests, and the magistrate of the temple, and the Sadducees --

² being grieved because of their teaching the people, and preaching in Jesus the rising again out of the dead --

³ and they laid hands upon them, and did put them in custody unto the morrow, for it was evening already;

⁴ and many of those hearing the word did believe, and the number of the men became, as it were, five thousand.

⁴ Muitos, porém, dos que tinham ouvido a pregação creram; e o número dos fiéis elevou-se a mais ou menos cinco mil.

⁵ And it came to pass upon the morrow, there were gathered together of them the rulers, and elders, and scribes, to Jerusalem,

⁵ No dia seguinte reuniram-se em Jerusalém os chefes do povo, os anciãos, os escribas,

⁶ and Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the chief priest,

⁶ com Anás, sumo sacerdote, Caifás, João, Alexandre e todos os que eram da linhagem pontifical.

⁷ and having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, 'In what power, or in what name did you do this?'

⁸ Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them: 'Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

⁸ Então Pedro, cheio do Espírito Santo, respondeu-lhes: Chefes do povo e anciãos, ouvi-me:

⁹ if we to-day are examined concerning the good deed to the ailing man, by whom he has been saved,

⁹ se hoje somos interrogados a respeito do benefício feito a um enfermo, e em que nome foi ele curado,

¹⁰ be it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you did crucify, whom God did raise out of the dead, in him has this one stood by before you whole.

¹⁰ ficai sabendo todos vós e todo o povo de Israel: foi em nome de Jesus Cristo Nazareno, que vós crucificastes, mas que Deus ressuscitou dos mortos. Por ele é que esse homem se acha são, em pé, diante de vós.

¹¹ 'This is the stone that was set at nought by you -- the builders, that became head of a corner;

¹¹ Esse Jesus, pedra que foi desprezada por vós, edificadores, tornou-se a pedra angular.

¹² and there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under the heaven that has been given among men, in which it behooves us to be saved.'

¹² Em nenhum outro há salvação, porque debaixo do céu nenhum outro nome foi dado aos homens, pelo qual devamos ser salvos.

¹³ And beholding the openness of Peter and John, and having perceived that they are men unlettered and plebeian, they were wondering -- they were taking knowledge also of them that with Jesus they had been --

¹³ Vendo eles a coragem de Pedro e de João, e considerando que eram homens sem estudo e sem instrução, admiravam-se. Reconheciam-nos como companheiros de Jesus.

¹⁴ and seeing the man standing with them who has been healed, they had nothing to say against it,

¹⁴ Mas vendo com eles o homem que tinha sido curado, não puderam replicar.

¹⁵ and having commanded them to go away out of the sanhedrin, they took counsel with one another,

¹⁵ Mandaram que se retirassem da sala do conselho, e conferenciaram entre si:

¹⁶ saying, 'What shall we do to these men? because that, indeed, a notable sign has been done through them, to all those dwelling in Jerusalem is manifest, and we are not able to deny it;

¹⁶ Que faremos destes homens? Porquanto o milagre por eles feito se tornou conhecido de todos os habitantes de Jerusalém, e não o podemos negar.

¹⁷ but that it may spread no further toward the people, let us strictly threaten them no more to speak in this name to any man.'

¹⁷ Todavia, para que esta notícia não se divulgue mais entre o povo, proibamos com ameaças, que no futuro falem a alguém nesse nome.

¹⁸ And having called them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor to teach, in the name of Jesus,

¹⁸ Chamaram-nos e ordenaram-lhes que absolutamente não falassem nem ensinassem em nome de Jesus.

¹⁹ and Peter and John answering unto them said, 'Whether it is righteous before God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge you;

¹⁹ Responderam-lhes Pedro e João: Julgai-o vós mesmos se é justo diante de Deus obedecermos a vós mais do que a Deus.

²⁰ for we cannot but speak what we did see and hear.'

²⁰ Não podemos deixar de falar das coisas que temos visto e ouvido.

²¹ And they having further threatened them, let them go, finding nothing how they may punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for that which has been done,

²¹ Eles então, ameaçando-os de novo, soltaram-nos, não achando pretexto para os castigar por causa do povo, porque todos glorificavam a Deus pelo que tinha acontecido.

²² for above forty years of age was the man upon whom had been done this sign of the healing.

²² Pois já passava dos 40 anos o homem em quem se realizara essa cura milagrosa.

²³ And being let go, they went unto their own friends, and declared whatever the chief priests and the elders said unto them,

²³ Postos em liberdade, voltaram aos seus irmãos e referiram tudo quanto lhes tinham dito os sumos sacerdotes e os anciãos.

²⁴ and they having heard, with one accord did lift up the voice unto God, and said, 'Lord, you art God, who did make the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that are in them,

²⁴ Ao ouvirem isso, levantaram unânimes a voz a Deus e disseram: Senhor, vós que fizestes o céu, a terra, o mar e tudo o que neles há.

²⁵ who, through the mouth of David your servant, did say, Why did nations rage, and peoples meditate vain things?

²⁵ Vós que, pelo Espírito Santo, pela boca de nosso pai Davi, vosso servo, dissestes: Por que se agitam as nações, e imaginam os povos coisas vãs?

²⁶ the kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ;

²⁶ Levantam-se os reis da terra, e os príncipes se reúnem em conselho contra o Senhor e contra o seu Cristo {Sl 2,1s.}.

²⁷ for gathered together of a truth against Your holy child Jesus, whom You did anoint, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel,

²⁷ Pois na verdade se uniram nesta cidade contra o vosso santo servo Jesus, que ungistes, Herodes e Pôncio Pilatos com as nações e com o povo de Israel,

²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel did determine before to come to pass.

²⁸ para executarem o que a vossa mão e o vosso conselho predeterminaram que se fizesse.

²⁹ 'And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to Your servants with all freedom to speak Your word,

²⁹ Agora, pois, Senhor, olhai para as suas ameaças e concedei aos vossos servos que com todo o desassombro anunciem a vossa palavra.

³⁰ in the stretching forth of Your hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the name of Your holy child Jesus.'

³⁰ Estendei a vossa mão para que se realizem curas, milagres e prodígios pelo nome de Jesus, vosso santo servo!

³¹ And they having prayed, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with freedom,

³¹ Mal acabavam de rezar, tremeu o lugar onde estavam reunidos. E todos ficaram cheios do Espírito Santo e anunciaram com intrepidez a palavra de Deus.

³² and of the multitude of those who did believe the heart and the soul was one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he had was his own, but all things were to them in common.

³² A multidão dos fiéis era um só coração e uma só alma. Ninguém dizia que eram suas as coisas que possuía, mas tudo entre eles era comum.

³³ And with great power were the apostles giving the testimony to the rising again of the Lord Jesus, great grace also was on them all,

³³ Com grande coragem os apóstolos davam testemunho da ressurreição do Senhor Jesus. Em todos eles era grande a graça.

³⁴ for there was not any one among them who did lack, for as many as were possessors of fields, or houses, selling them, were bringing the prices of the thing sold,

³⁴ Nem havia entre eles nenhum necessitado, porque todos os que possuíam terras e casas vendiam-nas,

³⁵ and were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was being made to each according as any one had need.

³⁵ e traziam o preço do que tinham vendido e depositavam-no aos pés dos apóstolos. Repartia-se então a cada um deles conforme a sua necessidade.

³⁶ And Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas -- which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort -- a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,

³⁶ Assim José {a quem os apóstolos deram o sobrenome de Barnabé que quer dizer Filho da Consolação}, levita natural de Chipre, possuía um campo.

³⁷ a field being his, having sold it, brought the money and laid it at the feet of the apostles.

³⁷ Vendeu-o e trouxe o valor dele e depositou aos pés dos apóstolos.
