1 Wherefore, O Yahweh, shouldst thou stand afar off? hide thyself, in times of destitution?
1 Ó Senhor Deus, por que ficas aí tão longe? Por que te escondes em tempos de aflição?
2 In the pride of the lawless one, he hotly pursueth the poor, let them be caught in the plots which they have devised!
2 Os maus são orgulhosos e perseguem os pobres; que eles caiam nas suas próprias armadilhas!
3 For the lawless one hath boasted over the longing of his soul, and, the robber, hath blasphemed Yahweh.

4 The lawless one, in the loftiness of his countenance, will not enquire, God is not in any of his plots:
4 O homem mau não se importa com Deus; por causa do seu orgulho ele pensa assim: “Para mim, Deus não tem importância.”
5 His ways are firm at all times, On high, are thy righteous regulations, out of his sight, As for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them:
5 Tudo o que esse homem faz dá certo. Ele não pode entender os julgamentos de Deus e zomba dos seus inimigos.
6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be shaken,From generation to generation, shall I be in no misfortune.
6 Ele pensa assim: “Nunca fracassarei; nunca terei dificuldades.”
7 With cursing, his mouth is full, and with deceptions and oppression, Under his tongue, are trouble and mischief:
7 A sua boca está cheia de maldições, mentiras e ameaças. Ele só fala de desgraças e de maldades.
8 He abideth in the lurking-place of villages, In the hiding-places, he murdereth the innocent,His eyes, for the unfortunate, are on the watch:
8 Ele se esconde perto dos povoados; espera ali e mata pessoas inocentes.
9 He lieth in wait in a hiding-place, like a lion in his covert, He lieth in wait to catch the humbled, He catcheth the humbled, by drawing him into his net:
9 Como um leão, ele espera no seu esconderijo e espia os que não podem se defender. Fica de tocaia, esperando pelos que são perseguidos; então pega as vítimas na armadilha e as arrasta dali.
10 He croucheth, he lieth down, then falleth he with his strong claws upon the unfortunate.
10 Elas são esmagadas e caem, derrotadas pela força bruta.
11 He hath said in his heart, GOD hath forgotten,He hath veiled his face, Oh he hath never seen!
11 Esse homem mau pensa assim: “Deus não se importa; ele fechou os olhos e nunca vê nada!”
12 Arise! Yahweh! O GOD! raise thy hand,Do not forget the patient!
12 Vem, ó Senhor Deus, e castiga essa gente má! Não te esqueças dos que estão sendo perseguidos!
13 Wherefore hath the lawless one blasphemed God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require !
13 Como pode a pessoa má desprezar a Deus e pensar que Deus não a castigará?
14 Thou hast seen! For, thou, mischief and misery, dost discern, to requite with thine own hand, Unto thee, doth, the unfortunate one, give himself up, To the fatherless, thou thyself, hast become a helper.
14 Mas tu, ó Deus, vês e percebes o sofrimento e a tristeza e sempre estás pronto para ajudar. Os que não podem se defender confiam em ti; tu sempre tens socorrido os necessitados.
15 Shatter thou the arm of the lawless one, And, as for the wrongful, wilt thou not enquire for his lawlessnesswilt thou not find ?
15 Senhor, acaba com o poder dos maus e dos perversos. Castiga-os por causa das suas maldades até que eles não as pratiquem mais.
16 Yahweh, is king, to times age-abiding and beyond, The nations have perished out of his land.
16 O Senhor é Rei para sempre; os pagãos serão expulsos da terra dele.
17 The longing of the patient, thou hast heard, O Yahweh, Thou wilt establish their heart, Thou wilt make attentive thine ear:
17 Ó Senhor Deus, tu ouvirás as orações dos que são perseguidos e lhes darás coragem.
18 To vindicate the fatherless and the crushed, A man of the earth, shall, no further, cause terror!
18 Tu ouvirás os gritos dos oprimidos e dos necessitados e julgarás a favor deles para que seres humanos, que são mortais, nunca mais espalhem o terror.
