1 Wisdom, hath builded her house, hath hewn out her seven pillars;
1 A Sabedoria construiu sua casa e ergueu suas sete colunas.
2 hath slaughtered her beasts, hath mingled her wine, hath even set in order her table;
2 Preparou um grande banquete; misturou os vinhos e arrumou a mesa.
3 hath sent forth her maidens, She crieth aloud, upon the tops of the heights of the city:
3 Enviou suas servas para convidarem a todos; do ponto mais alto da cidade, ela clama:
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither, as for him that lacketh sense, she saith to him
4 “Venham à minha casa todos os ingênuos”, e aos que não têm juízo ela diz:
5 Come, feed on my food, and drink of the wine I have mingled;
5 “Venham, comam de meu banquete e bebam do vinho que misturei.
6 Forsake the simple ones, and live, and advance in the way of understanding.
6 Deixem sua ingenuidade para trás e vivam; andem pelo caminho do discernimento”.
7 He that rebuketh a scoffer, getteth to himself contempt, and, he that reproveth a lawless man, his shame.
7 Quem repreende o zombador recebe insulto como resposta; quem corrige o perverso prejudica a si mesmo.
8 Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate thee, Reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.
8 Não se dê o trabalho de repreender o zombador, pois ele o odiará; repreenda, porém, o sábio, e ele o amará.
9 Give to a wise man, and he will be wiser still, Inform a righteous man, and he will increase learning.
9 Instrua o sábio, e ele crescerá na sabedoria; ensine o justo, e ele aprenderá ainda mais.
10 The beginning of wisdom, is the reverence of Yahweh, and, the knowledge of the Holy, is understanding;
10 O temor do S enhor é o princípio da sabedoria; o conhecimento do Santo resulta em discernimento.
11 For, by me, shall be multipliedthy days, and there be added to theethe years of life.
11 A sabedoria multiplicará seus dias e tornará sua vida mais longa.
12 If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself, but, if thou scoff, alone, shalt thou bear it.
12 Se você se tornar sábio, o benefício será seu; se desprezar a sabedoria, sofrerá as consequências.
13 The woman Stupidity, is boisterous, so simple that she knoweth not what she would do;
13 A mulher chamada Insensatez é atrevida; é ignorante e nem se dá conta disso.
14 So she sitteth at the entrance of her house, upon a seat, in the heights of the city;
14 Senta-se à porta de sua casa, no ponto mais alto da cidade.
15 To invite them who pass by the way, who are going straight on in their paths:
15 Clama aos que passam pelo caminho, ocupados com seus próprios assuntos:
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn aside hither, and, as for him that lacketh sense, she saith to him:
16 “Venham à minha casa todos os ingênuos”, e aos que não têm juízo ela diz:
17 Stolen waters, will be sweet,and a secret meal, will be pleasant;
17 “Água roubada é mais refrescante! Pão comido às escondidas é mais saboroso!”.
18 But he knoweth not, that the shades are there; In the depths of hades, are her guests.
18 Mal sabem, porém, que ali estão os mortos; seus convidados estão nas profundezas da sepultura.
