1 And it came to pass, on one of the days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and telling the good tidings, that the High-priests and the Scribes, with the Elders, came upon him,
1 Certo dia, Jesus estava no pátio do Templo ensinando o povo e anunciando o evangelho . Então chegaram ali alguns chefes dos sacerdotes e alguns mestres da Lei, junto com alguns líderes do povo,
2 and spake, saying, unto himTell us, by what authority, these things, thou art doing, and, who, is it, that gave thee this authority.
2 e perguntaram: — Diga para nós: com que autoridade você faz essas coisas? Quem lhe deu essa autoridade?
3 And answering, he said unto themI too, will question, you, as to a matter,and tell me!
3 Jesus respondeu:
4 The immersion of John, Of heaven, was it, or of men?
4 Quem deu autoridade a João para batizar? Foi Deus ou foram pessoas?
5 And they deliberated together by themselves, sayingIf we say, Of heaven, he will say, Wherefore did ye not believe him?
5 Aí eles começaram a dizer uns aos outros: — O que é que vamos dizer? Se dissermos que foi Deus, ele vai perguntar: “Então por que vocês não creram em João?”
6 But, if we say, Of men, the people, one and all, will stone us, for, persuaded, they are, that, John, was, a prophet.
6 Mas, se dissermos que foram pessoas, esta multidão vai nos apedrejar, pois eles acham que João era profeta .
7 And they answered, that they knew not whence.
7 Por isso responderam: — Nós não sabemos quem deu autoridade a João para batizar.
8 And, Jesus, said unto themNeither do, I, tell, you, by what authority, these things, I am doing.
8 Jesus disse:
9 And he began, unto the people, to be speaking this parable:A man, planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went from home for a long time.
9 Depois Jesus contou esta parábola para o povo:
10 And, in due season, he sent unto the husbandmen, a servant, that, of the fruit of the vineyard, they might give him; but, the husbandmen, having beaten him, sent him away empty.
10 Quando chegou o tempo da colheita, ele mandou um empregado para receber a sua parte. Mas os lavradores bateram nele e o mandaram de volta sem nada.
11 And he, further, sent another servant; but, they, beating, that one also, and dishonouring him, sent him away, empty.
11 O dono mandou outro empregado, mas eles também bateram nele, depois o trataram de modo vergonhoso e o mandaram de volta sem nada.
12 And he, further, sent, a third; but, they, bruising, this one also, thrust him out.
12 Então ele enviou um terceiro empregado, mas os lavradores também bateram nele e o expulsaram.
13 And the lord of the vineyard saidWhat shall I do? I will send my son, the beloved,It may be, that, him, they will respect.
13 Aí o dono da plantação pensou: “O que vou fazer? Já sei: vou mandar o meu filho querido. Tenho certeza de que vão respeitá-lo.”
14 But he husbandmen, seeing him, began to deliberate one with another, sayingThis, is, the heir: Let us slay him, that, ours, may be, the inheritance.
14 — Mas, quando os lavradores viram o filho, disseram: “Este é o filho do dono; ele vai herdar a plantação. Vamos matá-lo, e a plantação será nossa.”
15 And, thrusting him forth outside the vineyard, they slew him. What, then, will the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
15 — Então eles jogaram o filho para fora da plantação e o mataram. Aí Jesus perguntou:
16 He will come, and destroy these husbandmen, and give the vineyard unto others. But, when they heard it, they saidFar be it!
16 Ele virá, matará aqueles homens e dará a plantação a outros lavradores. Então as pessoas que estavam ouvindo disseram: — Que Deus não permita que isso aconteça!
17 But, he, looking at them, saidWhat, then, is this that is written,A stone which the builders rejected, The same, hath become, head of the corner?
17 Mas Jesus olhou bem para eles e disse:
18 Every one who falleth on that stone, will be sorely bruised, but, on whomsoever it shall fall, it will utterly destroy him.
18 Quem cair em cima dessa pedra ficará em pedaços. E, se a pedra cair sobre alguém, essa pessoa vai virar pó.
19 And the Scribes and the High-priests sought to thrust on him their hands, in that very hour; and feared the people; for they perceived that, against them, spake he this parable.
19 Os mestres da Lei e os chefes dos sacerdotes sabiam que era contra eles que Jesus havia contado essa parábola e queriam prendê-lo ali mesmo, porém tinham medo do povo.
20 And, watching narrowly, they sent forth suborned men, feigning themselves to be, righteous, that they might lay hold of a word of his, so as to deliver him up unto the rule and the authority of the governor.
20 Então começaram a vigiar Jesus. Pagaram alguns homens para fazerem perguntas a ele. Eles deviam fingir que eram sinceros e procurar conseguir alguma prova contra Jesus. Assim os mestres da Lei e os chefes dos sacerdotes teriam uma desculpa para o prender e entregar nas mãos do Governador romano.
21 And they questioned him, sayingTeacher! we know that, rightly, thou speakest and teachest, and respectest no person, but, in truth, the way of God, dost teach:
21 Esses homens perguntaram: — Mestre, sabemos que aquilo que o senhor diz e ensina é certo. Sabemos também que o senhor não julga pela aparência e ensina a verdade sobre a maneira de viver que Deus exige.
22 Is it allowable for us to give, unto Caesar, tribute, or not?
22 Diga: é ou não é contra a nossa Lei pagar impostos ao Imperador romano?
23 But, observing their villainy, he said unto them
23 Mas Jesus percebeu a má intenção deles e disse:
24 Shew me a denary. Of whom, hath it an image and inscription? And, they, saidOf Caesar.
24 — Tragam aqui uma moeda. De quem são o nome e a cara que estão gravados nela? — São do Imperador! — responderam eles.
25 And, he, said unto themWell then! render the things of Caesar, unto Caesar, and the things of God, unto God.
25 Então Jesus disse:
26 And they could not lay hold of the saying, before the people; and, marvelling at his answer, they held their peace.
26 Eles não puderam conseguir nenhuma prova contra Jesus diante do povo. Por isso ficaram calados, admirados com a resposta dele.
27 But there came near certain of the Sadducees, they who say, Resurrection, there is none! and questioned him,
27 Alguns saduceus , os quais afirmam que ninguém ressuscita, chegaram perto de Jesus
28 sayingTeacher! Moses, wrote for us, If ones brother die, having a wife, and, he, be, childless, that his brother shall take the wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
28 e disseram: — Mestre, Moisés escreveu para nós a seguinte
29 Seven brethren, therefore, there were,and, the first, taking a wife, died childless,
29 Acontece que havia sete irmãos. O mais velho casou e morreu sem deixar filhos.
30 And, the second,
30 Então o segundo casou com a viúva,
31 and the third, took her,yea, likewise, even the seven; They left no children, and died:
31 e depois, o terceiro. E assim a mesma coisa aconteceu com os sete irmãos, isto é, todos morreram sem deixar filhos.
32 Later on, the woman also, died.
32 Depois a mulher também morreu.
33 The woman, therefore, in the resurrection, Of which of them, doth she become wife? for, the seven, had her to wife.
33 Portanto, no dia da ressurreição, de qual dos sete a mulher vai ser esposa? Pois todos eles casaram com ela!
34 And Jesus said unto themThe sons of this age, marry, and are given in marriage,
34 Jesus respondeu:
35 But, they who have been accounted worthy, that age, to obtain, and the resurrection that is from among the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage;
35 Mas as pessoas que merecem alcançar a ressurreição e a vida futura não vão casar lá,
36 For they cannot, even die any more,for, equal unto messengers, are they, and are, sons of God, Of the resurrection, being, sons.
36 pois serão como os anjos e não poderão morrer. Serão filhos de Deus porque ressuscitaram.
37 But, that the dead do rise, even Moses, disclosed at the bush, when he calleth the LordThe God of Abraham and God of Isaac and God of Jacob:
37 E Moisés mostra claramente que os mortos serão ressuscitados. Quando fala do espinheiro que estava em fogo, ele escreve que o Senhor é “o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó.”
38 Now, God, he is not, of the dead, but, of the living,for, all, unto him, do live.
38 Isso mostra que Deus é Deus dos vivos e não dos mortos, pois para ele todos estão vivos.
39 And certain of the Scribes, answering, saidTeacher! Well, hast thou spoken.
39 Aí alguns mestres da Lei disseram: — Boa resposta, Mestre!
40 For, no longer, were they daring to ask him any questions.
40 E não tinham coragem de lhe fazer mais perguntas.
41 And he said unto themHow say they, that, the Christ, is, Davids Son?
41 Em seguida Jesus perguntou a eles:
42 For, David himself, saith, in book of Psalms: Said the Lord, unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand,
42 Pois o próprio Davi diz assim no livro de Salmos:
43 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
43 até que eu ponha os seus inimigos
44 David, therefore, calleth, him Lord: How, then, his son, is he?
44 Se Davi chama o Messias de Senhor, como é que o Messias pode ser descendente de Davi?
45 And, all the people hearing, he said unto the disciples:
45 O povo todo estava escutando, e Jesus disse aos discípulos:
46 Be taking heed of the ScribesWho desire to walk about in long robes, and are fond of salutations in the markets, and first seats in the synagogues, and first couches in the chief meals,
46 — Cuidado com os
47 Who devour the houses of widows, and, for a show, are a long time at prayer. These, shall receive, a heavier sentence.
47 Exploram as viúvas e roubam os seus bens; e, para disfarçar, fazem orações compridas. Portanto, o castigo que eles vão sofrer será pior ainda!
