1 But all the tax-collectors and the sinners were, unto him, drawing near, to be hearkening unto him;
1 Certa ocasião, muitos cobradores de impostos e outras pessoas de má fama chegaram perto de Jesus para o ouvir.
2 and both the Pharisees and the Scribes were murmuring, saying, This man, unto sinners, giveth welcome, and eateth with them.
2 Os fariseus e os mestres da Lei criticavam Jesus, dizendo: — Este homem se mistura com gente de má fama e toma refeições com eles.
3 And he spake unto them this parable, saying
3 Então Jesus contou esta parábola :
4 What man from among you, having a hundred sheep, and losing, from among them, one, doth not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go his way after the lost one, until he find it?
4 — Se algum de vocês tem cem ovelhas e perde uma, por acaso não vai procurá-la? Assim, deixa no campo as outras noventa e nove e vai procurar a ovelha perdida até achá-la.
5 And, finding it, he layeth it upon his shoulders, rejoicing;
5 Quando a encontra, fica muito contente e volta com ela nos ombros.
6 and, coming unto his house, calleth together the friends and the neighbours, saying unto themRejoice with me! because I have found my sheep that was lost!
6 Chegando à sua casa, chama os amigos e vizinhos e diz: “Alegrem-se comigo porque achei a minha ovelha perdida.”
7 I say unto youThus, joy in heaven, will there be, over one sinner repenting, rather than over ninety-nine righteous persons, who indeed have, no need, of repentance.
7 — Pois eu lhes digo que assim também vai haver mais alegria no céu por um pecador que se arrepende dos seus pecados do que por noventa e nove pessoas boas que não precisam se arrepender.
8 Or, what woman, having, ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek carefully, until she find it?
8 Jesus continuou:
9 And, having found it, she calleth together her female friends and neighbours, sayingRejoice with me! because I have found the piece of silver which I had lost.
9 E, quando a encontra, convida as amigas e vizinhas e diz: “Alegrem-se comigo porque achei a minha moeda perdida.”
10 Thus, I say unto you, there ariseth joy in presence of the messengers of God, over one sinner repenting.
10 — Pois eu digo a vocês que assim também os anjos de Deus se alegrarão por causa de um pecador que se arrepende dos seus pecados.
11 And he saidA certain man, had two sons.
11 E Jesus disse ainda:
12 And the younger of them said unto the fatherFather! give me the share that falleth to me, of what there is. And, he, divided unto them the living.
12 Certo dia o mais moço disse ao pai: “Pai, quero que o senhor me dê agora a minha parte da herança.”
13 And, after not many days, the younger son, gathering all together, left home for a country far away, and, there, squandered his substance with riotous living.
13 Poucos dias depois, o filho mais moço ajuntou tudo o que era seu e partiu para um país que ficava muito longe. Ali viveu uma vida cheia de pecado e desperdiçou tudo o que tinha.
14 And, when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine throughout that country,and, he, began to be in want.
14 — O rapaz já havia gastado tudo, quando houve uma grande fome naquele país, e ele começou a passar necessidade.
15 And he went his way, and joined himself unto one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to be feeding swine.
15 Então procurou um dos moradores daquela terra e pediu ajuda. Este o mandou para a sua fazenda a fim de tratar dos porcos.
16 And he used to long to be filled with the pods which the swine were eating; and, no man, was giving unto him.
16 Ali, com fome, ele tinha vontade de comer o que os porcos comiam, mas ninguém lhe dava nada.
17 But coming, to himself, he saidHow many hired servants of my father, have bread enough and to spare, whereas, I, with famine, here, am perishing!
17 Caindo em si, ele pensou: “Quantos trabalhadores do meu pai têm comida de sobra, e eu estou aqui morrendo de fome!
18 I will arise, and go unto my father, and will say unto himFather! I have sinned against heaven, and before thee:
18 Vou voltar para a casa do meu pai e dizer: ‘Pai, pequei contra Deus e contra o senhor
19 No longer, am I worthy to be called a son of thine,Make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came unto his own father.
19 e não mereço mais ser chamado de seu filho. Me aceite como um dos seus trabalhadores.’ ”
20 Now, while yet he was holding afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and, running, fell upon his neck, and tenderly kissed him.
20 Então saiu dali e voltou para a casa do pai.
21 And the son said unto himFather! I have sinned against heaven, and before thee: No longer, am I worthy to be called a son of thine, make me as one of thy hired servants.
21 E o filho disse: “Pai, pequei contra Deus e contra o senhor e não mereço mais ser chamado de seu filho!”
22 But the father said unto his servantsQuick! bring forth a robethe best! and put on him, and get out a ring for his hand, and sandals for his feet.
22 — Mas o pai ordenou aos empregados: “Depressa! Tragam a melhor roupa e vistam nele. Ponham um anel no dedo dele e sandálias nos seus pés.
23 And be bringing the fatted calf, sacrifice! and let us eat and make merry:
23 Também tragam e matem o bezerro gordo. Vamos começar a festejar
24 Because, this my son, was, dead, and hath come to life again, was lost, and is found. And they began to be making merry.
24 porque este meu filho estava morto e viveu de novo; estava perdido e foi achado.”
25 But his elder son was in a field; and, as, in coming, he drew near unto the house, he heard music and dancing,
25 — Enquanto isso, o filho mais velho estava no campo. Quando ele voltou e chegou perto da casa, ouviu a música e o barulho da dança.
26 and, calling near one of the youths, he inquired what these things, could be.
26 Então chamou um empregado e perguntou: “O que é que está acontecendo?”
27 And, he, said unto him,Thy brother, hath come, and thy father hath sacrificed the fatted calf, because, safe and sound, hath he received him back.
27 — O empregado respondeu: “O seu irmão voltou para casa vivo e com saúde. Por isso o seu pai mandou matar o bezerro gordo.”
28 But he was provoked to anger, and would not go in. And, his father, coming out, began to entreat him.
28 — O filho mais velho ficou zangado e não quis entrar. Então o pai veio para fora e insistiu com ele para que entrasse.
29 But, he, answering said unto his fatherLo! so many years as these, do I serve thee, and, at no time, a commandment of thine, have I transgressed,And, unto me, at no time, hast thou given a kid, that, with my friends, I might make merry;
29 Mas ele respondeu: “Faz tantos anos que trabalho como um escravo para o senhor e nunca desobedeci a uma ordem sua. Mesmo assim o senhor nunca me deu nem ao menos um cabrito para eu fazer uma festa com os meus amigos.
30 But, when, this thy son, who had devoured thy living with harlots, came, thou didst sacrifice, for him, the fatted calf;
30 Porém esse seu filho desperdiçou tudo o que era do senhor, gastando dinheiro com prostitutas. E agora ele volta, e o senhor manda matar o bezerro gordo!”
31 But, he, said unto himChild! thou, always, art, with me, and, all that is mine, is, thine;
31 — Então o pai respondeu: “Meu filho, você está sempre comigo, e tudo o que é meu é seu.
32 But, to make merry and rejoice, there was need, because, this thy brotherwas, dead, and hath come to life again, and was lost, and is found.
32 Mas era preciso fazer esta festa para mostrar a nossa alegria. Pois este seu irmão estava morto e viveu de novo; estava perdido e foi achado.”
