1 Oh that my head were waters, And mine eyes a fountain of tears,That I might weep day and night, For the slain of the daughter of my people!
1 Quem dera a minha cabeça se tornasse em águas, e os meus olhos, em fonte de lágrimas! Então choraria de dia e de noite os mortos da filha do meu povo.
2 Oh that I had in the wilderness, a wayfarers lodge, That I might leave my people, and go from them,For they all, are Adulterers, An assemblage of traitors;
2 Quem me dera eu tivesse no deserto um abrigo para viajantes! Então deixaria o meu povo e me afastaria dele, porque todos eles são adúlteros, são um bando de traidores.
3 Who have prepared e their tongue as their bow of falsehood, And, not by faithfulness, have they become mighty in the land,For from wickedness unto wickedness, have they gone forth, But me, have they not known, Declareth Yahweh.
3 Curvam a língua, como se fosse o seu arco, para disparar mentiras. “Fortalecem-se na terra, mas não para a verdade, porque avançam de maldade em maldade e não me conhecem”, diz o
4 Every one, of his neighbour, beware ye, And in no brother, may ye trust,For, every brother, supplanteth! And every neighbour, as a tale-bearer, goeth about;
4 “Que cada um de vocês se proteja do seu amigo e não confie em nenhum irmão. Porque todo irmão é enganador, e todo amigo não faz mais do que espalhar calúnias.
5 Yea, every one, of his neighbour, maketh a dupe, And, truth, they do not speak,They have taught their tongue to speak falsehood, In acting perversely, they have wearied themselves.
5 Cada um zomba do seu próximo, e não falam a verdade. Ensinam a sua língua a proferir mentiras; cansam-se de tanto praticar a iniquidade.
6 Thy dwelling, is in the midst of deceit,Through deceit, have they rejected the knowledge of, me, Declareth Yahweh.
6 Vivem no meio da falsidade; pela falsidade se recusam a me conhecer”, diz o
7 Therefore, thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, Behold me! melting them, so will I try them,For how else should I do because of the wickedness of the daughter of my people?
7 Portanto, assim diz o “Eis que eu os depurarei e os provarei. Pois que outra coisa poderia eu fazer com a filha do meu povo?
8 A pointed arrow, is their tongue Deceit, hath it spoken,With his mouth peace unto his neighbour, doth one speak, But within himself, he layeth his ambush.
8 A língua deles é flecha mortífera; falam mentiras. Com a boca, cada um fala de paz com o seu companheiro, mas no seu interior lhe arma ciladas.
9 For these things, shall I not bring punishment on them? Demandeth Yahweh,On a nation such as this, must not my soul avenge herself!
9 Deixaria eu de castigá-los por estas coisas?” — diz o “Não deveria eu me vingar de uma nação como esta?”
10 Over the mountains, will I take up a weeping and wailing, And over the oases of the desert, a dirge, For they have been burned, so that no man passeth through, Neither have men heard the lowing of cattle,Both the bird of the heavens and the beast have fled, have gone their way:
10 Pelos montes, levantarei choro e pranto e, pelas pastagens do deserto, lamentação. Porque já estão queimadas, e ninguém passa por elas. Já não se ouve ali o mugido de gado; tanto as aves dos céus como os animais fugiram e se foram.
11 Thus will I give up Jerusalem To heaps, A habitation for jackals,And the cities of Judah, will I give up to desolation, without inhabitant.
11 Farei de Jerusalém um montão de ruínas, morada de chacais; e das cidades de Judá farei uma desolação, para que fiquem desabitadas.
12 Who, is the man that is wise That he may discern this? And, unto whom, hath the mouth of Yahweh spoken, That he may declare it? For what cause Hath the land perished, Hath it been burned as a wilderness that no man passeth through?
12 — Quem é o homem sábio, que entenda isto? E a quem falou a boca do Senhor , para que possa explicá-lo? Por que a terra foi destruída e se queimou como deserto pelo qual não passa ninguém?
13 Then said Yahweh,Because they have forsaken my law, which I set before them,And have not hearkened to hay voice neither walked therein;
13 O Senhor respondeu: — Porque deixaram a minha lei, que pus diante deles, e não deram ouvidos ao que eu disse, nem andaram na minha lei.
14 But have gone their way, After the stubbornness of their own heart,And after the Baals which their fathers taught them,
14 Pelo contrário, andaram na dureza do seu coração e seguiram os baalins, como os pais deles lhes ensinaram.
15 Therefore, Thus saith Yahweh of hosts, The God of Israel, Behold me! Feeding them, even this people, with wormwood,And I will cause them to drink, poisoned water;
15 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que alimentarei este povo com absinto e lhe darei de beber água envenenada.
16 And will scatter them among the nations, which neither they nor their fathers, have known,And will send after them the sword, until I have consumed them.
16 Eu os espalharei entre nações que nem eles nem os seus pais conheceram; e enviarei a espada após eles, até que eu os tenha destruído.
17 Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, Consider ye diligently and call for the wailing women that they may come,And unto the wise women, send ye, that they may come;
17 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: “Considerem e chamem carpideiras, para que venham; mandem procurar mulheres hábeis, para que venham.
18 Yea let them make haste, and lift up over us a wailing,That our eyes, may run down, with tears, And, our eyelashes, stream down with water;
18 Que elas se apressem e levantem sobre nós o seu lamento, para que os nossos olhos se desfaçam em lágrimas, e as nossas pálpebras destilem água.”
19 Yea, a voice of wailing, hath been heard out of Zion How are we ruined! We have turned very pale For we have left the land, For they have cast down our habitations.
19 Porque uma voz de pranto se ouve de Sião: “Como estamos arruinados! Estamos muito envergonhados! Porque deixamos a nossa terra, e eles derrubaram as nossas casas.”
20 For hear O ye women the word of Yahweh, And let your ear take in the word of his mouth,And teach your daughters a wail, Yea leach womanher neighbour, a dirge:
20 Portanto, mulheres, escutem a palavra do e que os seus ouvidos recebam a palavra da sua boca. Ensinem às suas filhas um canto fúnebre; que cada uma ensine à sua companheira uma lamentação.
21 That death Hath come up through our windows, Hath entered our palaces,Cutting off The boy from the street, The young men from the broadways.
21 Porque a morte subiu pelas nossas janelas e entrou em nossos palácios; exterminou as crianças nas ruas e os jovens nas praças.
22 Speak thou, Thus, declareth Yahweh, So shall fall the dead bodies of men, Like dung heaps on the face of the field,And like swaths after the harvestman, With none to gather.
22 “Fale: Assim diz o Senhor : Os cadáveres das pessoas ficarão espalhados como adubo sobre o campo, como espigas que o ceifeiro deixa para trás, sem que haja quem as recolha.”
23 Thus, saith Yahweh Let not, the wise man, glory in his wisdom, Neither let, the mighty man, glory, in his might,Let not, the rich man, glory in his riches;
23 — Assim diz o Senhor : Não se glorie o sábio na sua sabedoria, nem o forte, na sua força, nem o rico, nas suas riquezas.
24 But, in this, let the glorying one gloryIn having intelligence and in knowing me, That, I, am Yahweh, Executing lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth,That in these things, I delight Declareth Yahweh.
24 Mas aquele que se gloria, glorie-se nisto: em me conhecer e saber que eu sou o Senhor e faço misericórdia, juízo e justiça na terra; porque destas coisas me agrado, diz o Senhor .
25 Lo! days are coming, Declareth Yahweh,When I will bring punishment upon every one circumcised, With him that is uncircumcised:
25 — Eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor , em que castigarei todos os que são circuncidados apenas na carne:
26 Upon Egypt and upon Judah, And upon Edom, and upon the sons of Ammon, And upon Moab, And upon all the clipped beards, The dwellers in the desert,For, all the nations, are uncircumcised, And, all the house of Israel, are uncircumcised in heart.
26 o povo do Egito, de Judá, de Edom, os filhos de Amom, de Moabe, e todos os que cortam o cabelo nas têmporas e vivem no deserto. Porque todas essas nações e toda a casa de Israel são incircuncisos de coração.
