7 Como insistissem na pergunta, Jesus se levantou e lhes disse: Aquele que dentre vós estiver sem pecado seja o primeiro que lhe atire pedra.

9 Mas, ouvindo eles esta resposta e acusados pela própria consciência, foram-se retirando um por um, a começar pelos mais velhos até aos últimos, ficando só Jesus e a mulher no meio onde estava.

10 Erguendo-se Jesus e não vendo a ninguém mais além da mulher, perguntou-lhe: Mulher, onde estão aqueles teus acusadores? Ninguém te condenou?

11 Respondeu ela: Ninguém, Senhor! Então, lhe disse Jesus: Nem eu tampouco te condeno; vai e não peques mais.]
12 Again, therefore, unto them, spake Jesus, sayingI, am the light of the world: He that followeth me, shall in nowise walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
12 De novo, lhes falava Jesus, dizendo: Eu sou a luz do mundo; quem me segue não andará nas trevas; pelo contrário, terá a luz da vida.
13 The Pharisees, therefore, said unto himThou, concerning thyself, bearest witness: thy witness, is not true.
13 Então, lhe objetaram os fariseus: Tu dás testemunho de ti mesmo; logo, o teu testemunho não é verdadeiro.
14 Jesus answered, and said unto themEven though, I, bear witness concerning myself, true, is my witness, because I know whence I came, and whither I go; but, ye, know not whence I come, and whither I go.
14 Respondeu Jesus e disse-lhes: Posto que eu testifico de mim mesmo, o meu testemunho é verdadeiro, porque sei donde vim e para onde vou; mas vós não sabeis donde venho, nem para onde vou.
15 Ye, according to the flesh, do judge: I, am judging no one.
15 Vós julgais segundo a carne, eu a ninguém julgo.
16 And, even if, I, am judging, my judging, is, genuine,because, alone, am I not, but, I, and the Father who sent me;
16 Se eu julgo, o meu juízo é verdadeiro, porque não sou eu só, porém eu e aquele que me enviou.
17 And, in your own law, it is written, that, two mens witness, is, true:
17 Também na vossa lei está escrito que o testemunho de duas pessoas é verdadeiro.
18 I, am the one bearing witness of myself, and the Father who sent me is bearing witness concerning me.
18 Eu testifico de mim mesmo, e o Pai, que me enviou, também testifica de mim.
19 They were saying unto him, thereforeWhere, is thy father? Jesus answeredNeither, me, do ye know, nor yet my Father: If, me, ye had known, my Father also, had ye known.
19 Então, eles lhe perguntaram: Onde está teu Pai? Respondeu Jesus: Não me conheceis a mim nem a meu Pai; se conhecêsseis a mim, também conheceríeis a meu Pai.
20 These sayings, spake he in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and yet, no one, seized him, because, not yet, had come his hour.
20 Proferiu ele estas palavras no lugar do gazofilácio, quando ensinava no templo; e ninguém o prendeu, porque não era ainda chegada a sua hora.
21 He said unto them again, thereforeI, go, and ye shall seek me,and yet, in your sin, shall ye die: Whither, I, go, ye, cannot come.
21 De outra feita, lhes falou, dizendo: Vou retirar-me, e vós me procurareis, mas perecereis no vosso pecado; para onde eu vou vós não podeis ir.
22 The Jews, therefore, were sayingCan it be that he will kill himself, that he saith, Whither, I, go, ye, cannot come?
22 Então, diziam os judeus: Terá ele, acaso, a intenção de suicidar-se? Porque diz: Para onde eu vou vós não podeis ir.
23 And he was saying unto themYe, are, of the realms below, I, am, of the realms above: Ye, are, of this world, I, am not of this world.
23 E prosseguiu: Vós sois cá de baixo, eu sou lá de cima; vós sois deste mundo, eu deste mundo não sou.
24 Therefore said I unto you, Ye shall die in your sins: For, if ye believe not that, I, am he, ye shall die in your sins.
24 Por isso, eu vos disse que morrereis nos vossos pecados; porque, se não crerdes que
25 They were saying unto him, thereforeWho art, thou? Jesus said unto themFirst and foremost, even what I speak unto you.
25 Então, lhe perguntaram: Quem és tu? Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Que é que desde o princípio vos tenho dito?
26 Many things, have I, concerning you, to speak, and to judge; but, he who sent me, is, true, and, I, what things I heard from him, the same, speak I unto the world.
26 Muitas coisas tenho para dizer a vosso respeito e vos julgar; porém aquele que me enviou é verdadeiro, de modo que as coisas que dele tenho ouvido, essas digo ao mundo.
27 They noted not that, as touching the Father, unto them, he was speaking.
27 Eles, porém, não atinaram que lhes falava do Pai.
28 Jesus, therefore, saidWhensoever ye shall lift up the Son of Man, then, shall ye know, that, I, am he, and, of myself, am doing, nothing; but, just as the Father taught me, the same things, am I speaking.
28 Disse-lhes, pois, Jesus: Quando levantardes o Filho do Homem, então, sabereis que
29 And, he that sent me, is, with me: He hath not left me, alone. Because, I, the things that please him, ever do.
29 E aquele que me enviou está comigo, não me deixou só, porque eu faço sempre o que lhe agrada.
30 As he was speaking these things, many, believed on him.
30 Ditas estas coisas, muitos creram nele.
31 Jesus was saying, therefore, unto the Jews who had believed on himIf, ye, abide in my word, of a truth, my disciples, ye are;
31 Disse, pois, Jesus aos judeus que haviam crido nele: Se vós permanecerdes na minha palavra, sois verdadeiramente meus discípulos;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and, the truth, shall make you free.
32 e conhecereis a verdade, e a verdade vos libertará.
33 They made answer unto himSeed of Abraham, are we, and, unto no one, have been brought into bondage, at any time: How sayest, thou, Free, shall ye be made?
33 Responderam-lhe: Somos descendência de Abraão e jamais fomos escravos de alguém; como dizes tu: Sereis livres?
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you: Every one who committeth sin, is, a slave, of sin:
34 Replicou-lhes Jesus: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: todo o que comete pecado é escravo do pecado.
35 Now, the slave, doth not abide in the house, evermore. The Son, abideth, evermore.
35 O escravo não fica sempre na casa; o filho, sim, para sempre.
36 If then, the Son, shall make you free, really free, shall ye be.
36 Se, pois, o Filho vos libertar, verdadeiramente sereis livres.
37 I know that ye are, seed of Abraham; but ye are seeking to kill me, because, my word, findeth no place in you.
37 Bem sei que sois descendência de Abraão; contudo, procurais matar-me, porque a minha palavra não está em vós.
38 What things, I, have seen with the Father, I am speaking; Ye, also, then, what things ye have heard from your father, are doing.
38 Eu falo das coisas que vi junto de meu Pai; vós, porém, fazeis o que vistes em vosso pai.
39 They answered and said unto himOur father, is, Abraham. Jesus saith unto themIf, children of Abraham, ye are, the works of Abraham, are ye doing.
39 Então, lhe responderam: Nosso pai é Abraão. Disse-lhes Jesus: Se sois filhos de Abraão, praticai as obras de Abraão.
40 But, now, ye are seeking, to kill me,A man who, the truth, unto you, hath spoken, which I have heard from God: this, Abraham, did not.
40 Mas agora procurais matar-me, a mim que vos tenho falado a verdade que ouvi de Deus; assim não procedeu Abraão.
41 Ye, are doing the works of your father. They said unto himWe, of fornication, were not born: One father, have weGod.
41 Vós fazeis as obras de vosso pai. Disseram-lhe eles: Nós não somos bastardos; temos um pai, que é Deus.
42 Jesus said unto themIf, God, had been your father, ye had been loving me, for, I, from God, came forth, and am here; for, not even of myself, have I come, but, he, sent me forth.
42 Replicou-lhes Jesus: Se Deus fosse, de fato, vosso pai, certamente, me havíeis de amar; porque eu vim de Deus e aqui estou; pois não vim de mim mesmo, mas ele me enviou.
43 Wherefore, is it, that, my speech, ye do not understand? because ye cannot hear my word.
43 Qual a razão por que não compreendeis a minha linguagem? É porque sois incapazes de ouvir a minha palavra.
44 Ye, are, of your fatherthe adversary, and, the covetings of your father, ye choose to be doing. He, was, a murderer, from the beginning, and, in the truth, he stood not; because truth is not in him: Whensoever he speaketh falsehood, of his own, he speaketh; because, false, he is, and, the father of it.
44 Vós sois do diabo, que é vosso pai, e quereis satisfazer-lhe os desejos. Ele foi homicida desde o princípio e jamais se firmou na verdade, porque nele não há verdade. Quando ele profere mentira, fala do que lhe é próprio, porque é mentiroso e pai da mentira.
45 But, as for me, because, the truth, I speak, ye do not believe me.
45 Mas, porque eu digo a verdade, não me credes.
46 Which of you convicteth me of sin? If, truth, I speak, wherefore, do, ye, not believe me?
46 Quem dentre vós me convence de pecado? Se vos digo a verdade, por que razão não me credes?
47 He that is of God, heareth, the sayings of God; therefore, do, ye, not hear, because, of God, ye are not.
47 Quem é de Deus ouve as palavras de Deus; por isso, não me dais ouvidos, porque não sois de Deus.
48 The Jews answered, and said unto himDo, we, not, well, say: Thou, art, a Samaritan, and hast a demon?
48 Responderam, pois, os judeus e lhe disseram: Porventura, não temos razão em dizer que és samaritano e tens demônio?
49 Jesus answeredI, have not, a demon, but honour my Father: and, ye, dishonour me.
49 Replicou Jesus: Eu não tenho demônio; pelo contrário, honro a meu Pai, e vós me desonrais.
50 But, I, seek not my glory: There is one who seeketh and judgeth.
50 Eu não procuro a minha própria glória; há quem a busque e julgue.
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you: If anyone shall keep, my word, death, shall he not see, unto times age-abiding.
51 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: se alguém guardar a minha palavra, não verá a morte, eternamente.
52 The Jews said unto himNow, we know that, a demon, thou hast:Abraham, died, and, the prophets, and yet, thou, sayest: If anyone shall keep, my word, in nowise shall he taste of death, unto times age-abiding.
52 Disseram-lhe os judeus: Agora, estamos certos de que tens demônio. Abraão morreu, e também os profetas, e tu dizes: Se alguém guardar a minha palavra, não provará a morte, eternamente.
53 Surely, thou, art not, greater, than our father Abraham,who, indeed, died? and, the prophets, died:Whom, makest thou thyself?
53 És maior do que Abraão, o nosso pai, que morreu? Também os profetas morreram. Quem, pois, te fazes ser?
54 Jesus answeredIf, I, glorify myself, my glory, is nothing: It is, my Father, that glorifieth me,of whom, ye, sayHe is, your God!
54 Respondeu Jesus: Se eu me glorifico a mim mesmo, a minha glória nada é; quem me glorifica é meu Pai, o qual vós dizeis que é vosso Deus.
55 And yet ye have not come to know him; but, I, do know him: If I say, I know him not, I shall be like youfalse; but I know him, and, his word, am I keeping.
55 Entretanto, vós não o tendes conhecido; eu, porém, o conheço. Se eu disser que não o conheço, serei como vós: mentiroso; mas eu o conheço e guardo a sua palavra.
56 Abraham, your father, exulted that he should see my day; and he saw, and rejoiced.
56 Abraão, vosso pai, alegrou-se por ver o meu dia, viu-o e regozijou-se.
57 The Jews, therefore, said unto himFifty years old, not yet art thou, and, Abraham, hast thou seen?
57 Perguntaram-lhe, pois, os judeus: Ainda não tens cinquenta anos e viste Abraão?
58 Jesus said unto themVerily, verily, I say unto you: Before, Abraham, came into existence, I, am.
58 Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Em verdade, em verdade eu vos digo: antes que Abraão existisse,
59 They took up stones, therefore, that they might cast at him; but, Jesus, was hidden, and went forth out of the temple.
59 Então, pegaram em pedras para atirarem nele; mas Jesus se ocultou e saiu do templo.
