Eclesiastes 5

1 Keep thy foot, when thou goest unto the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than dullards to offer sacrifice,for they make no acknowledgment of doing wrong.
1 Quando você for ao santuário de Deus, seja reverente. Quem se aproxima para ouvir é melhor do que os tolos que oferecem sacrifício sem saber que estão agindo mal.
2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and, with thy heart, be not in haste to bring forth a word, before God,for, God, is in the heavens, and, thou, upon the earth, for this cause, let thy words be few.
2 Não seja precipitado de lábios, nem apressado de coração para fazer promessas diante de Deus. Deus está nos céus, e você está na terra, por isso, fale pouco.
3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business,and, the voice of a dullard, is with a multitude of words.
3 Das muitas ocupações brotam sonhos; do muito falar nasce a prosa vã do tolo.
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, do not defer to pay it, for there is no pleasure in dullards,what thou vowest, pay!
4 Quando você fizer um voto, cumpra-o sem demora, pois os tolos desagradam a Deus; cumpra o seu voto.
5 Better that thou shouldest not vow,than vow, and not pay.
5 É melhor não fazer voto do que fazer e não cumprir.
6 Do not let thy mouth cause thy flesh to sin,neither say thou, before the messenger, that it was, a mistake,wherefore should God be indignant at thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands?
6 Não permita que a sua boca o faça pecar. E não diga ao mensageiro de Deus: "O meu voto foi um engano". Por que irritar a Deus com o que você diz e deixá-lo destruir o que você realizou?
7 For amidst a multitude of dreams, and vanities, and many words,but, towards God, be thou reverent.
7 Em meio a tantos sonhos, absurdos e conversas inúteis, tenha temor de Deus.
8 If, the oppression of the poor, and the wresting of justice and righteousness, thou see in the province, do not be astonished over the matter,for, one high above the highest, is watching, yea, the Most High, is over them.
8 Se você vir o pobre oprimido numa província e vir que lhe são negados o direito e a justiça, não fique surpreso; pois todo oficial está subordinado a alguém em posição superior, e sobre os dois há outros em posição ainda mais alta.
9 And, the profit of the earth, is, for all,a king, by the field, is served.
9 Mesmo assim, é vantagem a nação ter um rei que a governe e que se interesse pela agricultura.
10 He that loveth silver, shall not be satisfied with silver nor, he that loveth abundance, with revenue,-even this, was vanity.
10 Quem ama o dinheiro jamais terá o suficiente; quem ama as riquezas jamais ficará satisfeito com os seus rendimentos. Isso também não faz sentido.
11 When blessings are increased, increased are the eaters thereof,what profit, then, to the owner of them saving the sight of his eyes?
11 Quando aumentam os bens, também aumentam os que os consomem. E que benefício trazem os bens a quem os possui, senão dar um pouco de alegria aos seus olhos?
12 Sweet the sleep of the labourer, whether, little or much, he eat,but, the surfeit of the rich man, will not suffer him to sleep.
12 O sono do trabalhador é ameno, quer coma pouco quer coma muito, mas a fartura de um homem rico não lhe dá tranqüilidade para dormir.
13 Here was an incurable evil, I had seen under the sun, riches kept by the owner thereof, to his hurt;
13 Há um mal terrível que vi debaixo do sol: riquezas acumuladas para infelicidade do seu possuidor.
14 and those riches perish, by being ill employed,and though he begetteth a son, yet is there in his hand nothing at all.
14 Se as riquezas se perdem num mau negócio, nada ficará para o filho que lhe nascer.
15 As he came from his mothers womb, naked, he again departeth, as he came,and, nothing, can he take of his toil, which he can carry in his hand.
15 O homem sai nu do ventre de sua mãe, e como vem, assim vai. De todo o trabalho em que se esforçou nada levará consigo.
16 Even this, moreover, is an incurable evil, altogether as he came, so, shall he depart,what profit then shall he have who toileth for the wind?
16 Há também outro mal terrível: Como o homem vem, assim ele vai, e o que obtém, de todo o seu esforço em busca do vento?
17 Even all his days,
17 Passa toda a sua vida nas trevas, com grande frustração, doença e amargura.
18 Lo! what, I myself, have seenBetter that it should be excellent to eat and to drink and to see blessedness, in all ones toil wherein one toileth under the sun, for the number of the days of his life, in that God hath given it him, for, that, is his portion:
18 Assim, descobri que o melhor e o que vale a pena é comer, beber, e desfrutar o resultado de todo o esforço que se faz debaixo do sol durante os poucos dias de vida que Deus dá ao homem, pois essa é a sua recompensa.
19 yet, as regardeth every man, to whom God hath given wealth and goods, and granted him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to find gladness in his toil, this, is, the gift of God.
19 E, quando Deus concede riquezas e bens a alguém, e o capacita a desfrutá-los, a aceitar a sua sorte e a ser feliz em seu trabalho, isso é um presente de Deus.
20 Though it be not much, let him remember the days of his life,for, God, beareth witness, by the gladness of his heart.
20 Raramente essa pessoa reflete no fato de que a sua vida é curta, porque Deus o mantém ocupado com a alegria do coração.
