1 When thou shalt go out to wage war against thine enemy, and shalt see the horses and chariots of a people more in number than thou, thou shalt not be afraid of them,for, Yahweh thy God, is with thee, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
1 Quando saíres à peleja contra teus inimigos, e vires cavalos, e carros, e povo maior em número do que tu, deles não terás temor; pois o SENHOR teu Deus, que te tirou da terra do Egito, está contigo.
2 And it shall be, when ye are coming nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people;
2 E será que, quando vos achegardes à peleja, o sacerdote se adiantará, e falará ao povo,
3 and shall say unto them,Hear, O Israel, ye are coming near to-day, unto battle against your enemies,let not your heart faint do not fear nor start nor quake because of them.
3 E dir-lhe-á: Ouvi, ó Israel, hoje vos achegais à peleja contra os vossos inimigos; não se amoleça o vosso coração: não temais nem tremais, nem vos aterrorizeis diante deles,
4 For Yahweh your God, is he that is going with you,to fight for you against your enemies to save you.
4 Pois o Senhor vosso Deus é o que vai convosco, a pelejar contra os vossos inimigos, para salvar-vos.
5 Then shall the officers speak unto the people saying, Who is the man that hath built a new house and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return unto his house,lest he die in the battle, and, another man dedicate it.
5 Então os oficiais falarão ao povo, dizendo: Qual é o homem que edificou casa nova e ainda não a consagrou? Vá, e torne-se à sua casa para que porventura não morra na peleja e algum outro a consagre.
6 And who is the man that hath planted a vineyard and hath not thrown it open? let him go and return unto his house,lest he die in the battle, and another man, throw it open.
6 E qual é o homem que plantou uma vinha e ainda não a desfrutou? Vá, e torne-se à sua casa, para que porventura não morra na peleja e algum outro a desfrute.
7 And who is the man that hath betrothed a wife and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house,lest he die in the battle, and, another man, take her.
7 E qual é o homem que está desposado com alguma mulher e ainda não a recebeu? Vá, e torne-se à sua casa, para que porventura não morra na peleja e algum outro homem a receba.
8 Then shall the officers further speak unto the people, and sayWho is the man that is fearful and faint-hearted? let him go and return unto his house,lest his brethrens heart melt as well as his heart.
8 E continuarão os oficiais a falar ao povo, dizendo: Qual é o homem medroso e de coração tímido? Vá, e torne-se à sua casa, para que o coração de seus irmãos não se derreta como o seu coração.
9 And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people, then shall they appoint captains of hosts at the head of the people.
9 E será que, quando os oficiais acabarem de falar ao povo, então designarão os capitães dos exércitos para a dianteira do povo.
10 When thou shalt come nigh unto a city, to fight against it,then shalt thou proclaim unto itpeace,
10 Quando te achegares a alguma cidade para combatê-la, apregoar-lhe-ás a paz.
11 and it shall be if peace, be the answer it giveth thee, and it open unto thee, then shall it be, that, all the people that are found therein, shall become thy tributaries and shall serve thee.
11 E será que, se te responder em paz, e te abrir as portas, todo o povo que se achar nela te será tributário e te servirá.
12 But if it will not make peace with thee, but will make war with thee, then shalt thou lay siege to it;
12 Porém, se ela não fizer paz contigo, mas antes te fizer guerra, então a sitiarás.
13 and Yahweh thy God will deliver it into thy hand,and thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword;
13 E o Senhor teu Deus a dará na tua mão; e todo o homem que houver nela passarás ao fio da espada.
14 but the women and the little ones and the cattle and all that shall be in the cityall the spoil thereof, shalt thou take as thy prey,so shalt thou eat the spoil of thine enemies, whom Yahweh thy God hath delivered unto thee.
14 Porém, as mulheres, e as crianças, e os animais; e tudo o que houver na cidade, todo o seu despojo, tomarás para ti; e comerás o despojo dos teus inimigos, que te deu o Senhor teu Deus.
15 Thus, shalt thou do unto all the cities that are very far away from thee,which are not of the cities of those nations.
15 Assim farás a todas as cidades que estiverem mui longe de ti, que não forem das cidades destas nações.
16 But of the cities of these peoples which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee as an inheritance, shalt thou not save alive, any breathing thing.
16 Porém, das cidades destas nações, que o Senhor teu Deus te dá em herança, nenhuma coisa que tem fôlego deixarás com vida.
17 But thou shalt devote them to destructionthe Hittites and the Amorites the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites,as Yahweh thy God hath commanded thee:
17 Antes destruí-las-ás totalmente: aos heteus, e aos amorreus, e aos cananeus, e aos perizeus, e aos heveus, e aos jebuseus, como te ordenou o Senhor teu Deus.
18 lest they teach you to do, according to all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods,and so ye sin against Yahweh your God.
18 Para que não vos ensinem a fazer conforme a todas as suas abominações, que fizeram a seus deuses, e pequeis contra o Senhor vosso Deus.
19 When thou shalt besiege a city for many days to fight against it, to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by wielding against them an axe, when of them, thou mightest eat, them, there-fore shalt thou not cut down,for, Is the tree of the field, a man, that it should enter, because of thee into the siege?
19 Quando sitiares uma cidade por muitos dias, pelejando contra ela para a tomar, não destruirás o seu arvoredo, colocando nele o machado, porque dele comerás; pois que não o cortarás (pois o arvoredo do campo é mantimento para o homem), para empregar no cerco.
20 Nevertheless, the tree of which thou knowest that it is, not a tree yielding food, the same, mayest thou destroy, and cut down,and so build up a siege-work against the city which is making war with thee, until thou hast subdued it.
20 Mas as árvores que souberes que não são árvores de alimento, destruí-las-ás e cortá-las-ás; e contra a cidade que guerrear contra ti edificarás baluartes, até que esta seja vencida.
