Amós 1

1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa,of which (words) he had vision concerning Israel, in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
1 Esta mensagem acerca de Israel foi dada a Amós, pastor de ovelhas da cidade de Tecoa, em Judá. Ele a recebeu em visões dois anos antes do terremoto, quando Uzias era rei de Judá, e Jeroboão, filho de Jeoás, era rei de Israel.
2 So then he saidYahweh, out of Zion, will roar, and, out of Jerusalem, will utter his voice,and the pastures of the shepherds, shall mourn, and the top of Carmel, be dried up.
2 Foi isto que ele viu e ouviu: “A voz do S e trovejará desde Jerusalém! Os pastos verdes dos pastores secarão, e o capim no monte Carmelo murchará e morrerá”.
3 Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of Damascus, and because of four, will I not turn it back,Because, with threshing instruments of iron, they have threshed Gilead.
3 Assim diz o S enhor : “Os habitantes de Damasco pecaram repetidamente; não deixarei que fiquem impunes! Feriram meu povo em Gileade, como o cereal é debulhado com trilhos de ferro.
4 Therefore will send a fire, into the house of Hazael,which shall devour the palaces of Ben- hadad;
4 Por isso enviarei fogo sobre o palácio do rei Hazael, e as fortalezas do rei Ben-Hadade serão destruídas.
5 And I will break the bolt of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant out of the plain of Aven, and the holder of the sceptre out of the house of Eden,and the people of Syria, shall be exiled, unto Kir, saith Yahweh.
5 Derrubarei os portões de Damasco e matarei todos que habitam no vale de Áven. Destruirei o governante em Bete-Éden, e o povo da Síria será levado como escravo para Quir”, diz o S
6 Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of Gaza, and because of four, will I not turn it back,Because of their taking into exile the whole body of exiles, to deliver to Edom,
6 Assim diz o S enhor : “Os habitantes de Gaza pecaram repetidamente; não deixarei que fiquem impunes! Enviaram todo o povo para o exílio e o entregaram como escravos para Edom.
7 Therefore will I send a fire upon the wall of Gaza,which shall devour the palaces thereof;
7 Por isso enviarei fogo sobre os muros de Gaza, e suas fortalezas serão destruídas.
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant out of Ashdod, and the holder of the sceptre out of Ashkelon,and will turn my hand against Ekron, So shall perish the remnant of the Philistines, saith My Lord, Yahweh.
8 Matarei os que habitam em Asdode e destruirei o governante de Ascalom. Então me voltarei para atacar Ecrom, e os filisteus que restarem serão mortos”, diz o S
9 Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of Tyre, and because of four, will I not turn it back,Because of their delivering up the whole body of exiles to Edom, and they remembered not the brotherly covenant,
9 Assim diz o S enhor : “Os habitantes de Tiro pecaram repetidamente; não deixarei que fiquem impunes! Quebraram o pacto de irmãos com Israel e entregaram todo o povo como escravo para Edom.
10 Therefore will I send a fire upon the wall of Tyre,which shall devour the palaces thereof.
10 Por isso enviarei fogo sobre os muros de Tiro, e suas fortalezas serão destruídas”.
11 Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of Edom, and because of four, will I not turn it back,Because he pursued, with the sword, his brother, and stifled his compassions, and his anger tare in pieces evermore, and, his indignation, kept watch perpetually,
11 Assim diz o S enhor : “Os habitantes de Edom pecaram repetidamente; não deixarei que fiquem impunes! Com espadas perseguiram seus parentes, os israelitas, e não tiveram compaixão deles. Em sua fúria, os despedaçaram sem parar e foram implacáveis em sua ira.
12 Therefore will I send a fire into Teman,which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
12 Por isso enviarei fogo sobre Temã, e as fortalezas de Bozra serão destruídas”.
13 Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of the sons of Ammon, and because of four, will I not turn it back,Because of their ripping up the pregnant women of Gilead, that they might enlarge their own boundary,
13 Assim diz o S enhor : “Os habitantes de Amom pecaram repetidamente; não deixarei que fiquem impunes! Quando atacaram Gileade para ampliar suas fronteiras, abriram as mulheres grávidas ao meio com espadas.
14 Therefore will I kindle a fire upon the wall of Rabbah, which shall devour the palaces thereof,with a war-cry in the day of battle, with tempest in the day of storm-wind;
14 Por isso enviarei fogo sobre os muros de Rabá, e suas fortalezas serão destruídas. A batalha virá sobre eles com gritos, como um redemoinho numa forte tempestade.
15 And Milcom shall go into exile,he and his rulers together, saith Yahweh.
15 Seu rei e seus príncipes irão juntos para o exílio”, diz o S
