1 Then came all the tribes of Israel unto David, in Hebron,and spake, sayingBehold us! thy bone and thy flesh, we are.
1 Então todas as tribos de Israel vieram a Hebrom para encontrar-se com Davi. “Somos do mesmo povo e raça”, disseram.
2 Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou, wast he that led out and brought in, Israel,and Yahweh said to theeThou, shalt be shepherd unto my people, Israel, and, thou, shalt become leader over Israel.
2 “No passado, quando Saul era nosso rei, era você que liderava o exército de Israel. E o S enhor lhe disse: ‘Você será o pastor do meu povo, Israel. Será o líder de Israel’.”
3 So all the elders of Israel came unto the king, in Hebron, and King David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh, and they anointed David to be king over Israel.
3 Então, ali em Hebrom, o rei Davi fez um acordo diante do S enhor com todas as autoridades de Israel, e elas o ungiram rei de Israel.
4 Thirty years old, was David when he began to reign,forty years, he reigned:
4 Davi tinha 30 anos quando começou a reinar e, ao todo, reinou por quarenta anos.
5 in Hebron, reigned he over Judah, seven years, and six months,and, in Jerusalem, reigned he thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.
5 Havia reinado sobre Judá sete anos e seis meses e, em Jerusalém, reinou sobre todo o Israel e Judá por 33 anos.
6 Then went the king and his men, to Jerusalem, against the Jebusites, inhabiting the land,and they spake to David, sayingThou canst not come in hither, unless thou take away the blind and lameThinking, David will not come in hither.
6 Então o rei partiu com seus soldados para Jerusalém, a fim de lutar contra os jebuseus, que viviam naquele lugar. Os jebuseus zombavam de Davi: “Você jamais entrará aqui! Até os cegos e aleijados são capazes de impedi-lo!”. Diziam isso porque imaginavam estar seguros,
7 So then David captured the citadel of Zion,the same, is the city of David.
7 mas Davi tomou a fortaleza de Sião, que hoje é chamada de Cidade de Davi.
8 And David said, on that dayWhosoever is smiting the Jebusites, then let him reach as far as the aqueduct. But, as for the lame and the blind, they were the hated of Davids soul,for which cause, they kept on saying, Blind and lame! he will not enter the place.
8 No dia do ataque, Davi disse a seus soldados: “Odeio esses jebuseus ‘cegos’ e ‘aleijados’. Quem os atacar deve entrar na cidade pelo túnel de água”. Essa é a origem do ditado: “Os cegos e os aleijados não entrarão na casa”.
9 So then David dwelt in the citadel, and called it, The City of David,and David built round about, from Millo and inwards.
9 Então Davi foi morar na fortaleza de Sião e a chamou de Cidade de Davi. Ampliou a cidade, desde o aterro até a parte interna.
10 And David went on and on waxing great,Yahweh, God of hosts, being with him.
10 Davi foi se tornando cada vez mais poderoso, pois o S enhor , o Deus dos Exércitos, estava com ele.
11 Then Hiram, king of Tyre, sent messengers unto David, with cedar-wood, and carpenters, and masons, and they built a house for David.
11 Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou a Davi mensageiros com madeira de cedro, carpinteiros e pedreiros, que construíram um palácio para Davi.
12 So David perceived that Yahweh had established him to be king over Israel,and that he had exalted his kingdom, for the sake of his people Israel.
12 E Davi compreendeu que o S enhor o havia confirmado como rei sobre Israel e exaltado seu reino por causa de seu povo, Israel.
13 And David took him yet more concubines and wives, out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron, and there were, yet further, born unto David, sons and daughters.
13 Depois de mudar-se de Hebrom para Jerusalém, Davi tomou mais concubinas e esposas e teve mais filhos e filhas.
14 Now, these, are the names of the sons who were born unto him in Jerusalem,Shammua and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon;
14 Estes são os nomes dos filhos de Davi que nasceram em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão,
15 and Ibhar and Elishua and Nepheg and Yaphia;
15 Ibar, Elisua, Nefegue, Jafia,
16 and Elishama and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
16 Elisama, Eliada e Elifelete.
17 And, when the Philistine heard that they had anointed David to be king over Israel, then came up all the Philistines to seek to secure David, and David heard of it, and went down into the citadel.
17 Quando os filisteus souberam que Davi tinha sido ungido rei de Israel, mobilizaram suas tropas para capturá-lo. Davi, porém, foi informado disso e desceu para a fortaleza.
18 Now, the Philistines, had come,and had spread themselves out in the vale of Rephaim.
18 Os filisteus chegaram e se espalharam pelo vale de Refaim.
19 So then David enquired of Yahweh, saying,Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Yahweh said unto DavidGo up; for I, will surely deliver, the Philistines into thy hand.
19 Então Davi perguntou ao S enhor : “Devo sair e lutar contra os filisteus? Tu os entregarás em minhas mãos?”. O S
20 And David entered Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and saidYahweh hath broken forth upon mine enemies, before me, like a breaking forth of waters. For this cause, called he the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
20 Então Davi foi a Baal-Perazim e ali derrotou os filisteus, e exclamou: “O S enhor irrompeu no meio de meus inimigos como uma violenta inundação!”. Por isso, chamou aquele lugar de Baal-Perazim.
21 And they left their images there,and David and his men took them away.
21 Davi e seus homens levaram os ídolos que os filisteus haviam abandonado ali.
22 And, yet again, did the Philistines come up, and they spread themselves out in the vale of Rephaim.
22 Pouco tempo depois, os filisteus voltaram a se espalhar pelo vale de Refaim.
23 So David enquired of Yahweh, and he saidThou shalt not go up,Get round behind them, and come in upon them, over against the mulberry-trees.
23 Mais uma vez, Davi consultou o S enhor . “Não os ataque pela frente”, respondeu o S enhor . “Em vez disso, dê a volta por trás deles e ataque-os perto dos álamos.
24 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, then, shalt thou act with decision,for, then, will Yahweh have gone forth before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
24 Quando ouvir um som como de pés marchando por cima dos álamos, ataque! É o sinal de que o S enhor vai à sua frente para derrotar o exército filisteu.”
25 And David did so, as Yahweh had commanded him,and smote the Philistines, from Gibeon until thou enterest Gezer.
25 Davi fez como o S enhor ordenou e derrotou os filisteus por todo o caminho, desde Gibeom até Gezer.
