1 Moreover we make known unto you, brethren, the favour of God which hath been given in the assemblies of Macedonia,
1 Agora, irmãos, queremos que saibam o que Deus, em sua graça, tem feito por meio das igrejas da Macedônia.
2 That, in a great testing of tribulation, the superabounding of their joy and their deep destitution, superabounded unto the riches of their liberality;
2 Elas têm sido provadas com muitas aflições, mas sua grande alegria e extrema pobreza transbordaram em rica generosidade.
3 That, according to power, I bear witness, and beyond power, of their own accord, ,
3 Posso testemunhar que deram não apenas o que podiam, mas muito além disso, e o fizeram por iniciativa própria.
4 With much exhortation, entreating of us the favour and the fellowship of the ministry which was for the saints;
4 Eles nos suplicaram repetidamente o privilégio de participar da oferta ao povo santo.
5 And, not merely as we hoped, but, themselves, gave they, first, unto the Lord and unto us through Gods will,
5 Fizeram até mais do que esperávamos, pois seu primeiro passo foi entregar-se ao Senhor e a nós, como era desejo de Deus.
6 To the end we should exhort Titus, in order that, according as he before made a beginning, so, he should also complete unto you this favour also.
6 Por isso pedimos a Tito, que inicialmente encorajou vocês a contribuírem, que os visitasse outra vez e os animasse a completar esse serviço de generosidade.
7 But, just as, in everything, ye superabound,in faith, and discourse, and knowledge, and all earnestness, and in the love among you which proceedeth from us, in order that, in this favour also, ye would superabound.
7 Visto que vocês se destacam em tantos aspectos — na fé, nos discursos eloquentes, no conhecimento, no entusiasmo e no amor que receberam de nós —, queríamos que também se destacassem no generoso ato de contribuir.
8 Not by way of injunction, do I speak, but through, others, earnestness, and, the genuineness of your own love, putting to the test.
8 Não estou ordenando que o façam, mas sim testando a sinceridade de seu amor ao compará-lo com a dedicação de outros.
9 For ye are taking knowledge of the favour of our Lord Jesus Christ ,how that, for your sakes, he became destitutealthough he was, rich, in order that, ye, by his destitution, might be enriched.
9 Vocês conhecem a graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. Embora fosse rico, por amor a vocês ele se fez pobre, para que por meio da pobreza dele vocês se tornassem ricos.
10 And, a judgment, herein, do I give,for, this, unto you, is profitable,who, indeed, not only of the doing, but of the desiring, made for yourselves a beginning a year ago;
10 Este é meu conselho: seria bom que terminassem o que começaram há um ano, quando foram os primeiros a querer contribuir e a efetivamente fazê-lo.
11 Howbeit, now, the doing also, complete ye, in order that, even according to the forwardness of the desiring, so, may be the completingout of what ye have.
11 Assim, completem o que começaram. Que a boa vontade demonstrada no princípio seja igualada, agora, por sua contribuição. Doem proporcionalmente àquilo que possuem.
12 For, if the forwardness is set forth, according to what one may have, he is well approved, not according to what one hath not.
12 Tudo que derem será aceitável, desde que o façam de boa vontade, de acordo com o que têm, e não com o que não têm.
13 For, not that unto others should be relief, and unto you distress , but, by equality, in the present season, your surplus for their deficiency,
13 Não que sua contribuição deva facilitar a vida dos outros e dificultar a de vocês. Quero dizer apenas que deve haver igualdade.
14 In order that their surplus may come to be for your deficiency: that there may come about an equality:
14 No momento, vocês têm fartura e podem ajudar os que passam por necessidades. Em outra ocasião, eles terão fartura e poderão compartilhar com vocês quando for necessário. Assim, haverá igualdade.
15 Even as it is writtenHe that
15 Como dizem as Escrituras: “Para aqueles que muito recolheram nada sobrou, e para aqueles que pouco recolheram nada faltou”.
16 Thanks, however, unto God!who is putting the same earnestness in your behalf in the heart of Titus,
16 Agradeço a Deus porque ele concedeu a Tito a mesma dedicação que eu tenho por vocês.
17 In that, though, indeed, the exhortation, he welcomed; yet already being, greatly in earnest, of his own accord, hath he gone forth unto you.
17 Tito recebeu com prazer nosso pedido para que os visitasse outra vez. Na verdade, ele mesmo estava ansioso para ir vê-los.
18 Howbeit, we also set forward, with him, the brother, whose praise in the Glad Tidings, through all the assemblies:
18 Com ele estamos enviando outro irmão, que é elogiado por todas as igrejas como pregador das boas-novas.
19 Not only so, however, but he hath also been appointed by the assemblies, as a fellow-traveler with us in this favour, which is being ministered by us with a view to the Lords glory and our earnest desire:
19 Ele foi nomeado pelas igrejas para nos acompanhar quando levarmos a oferta, um serviço que visa glorificar o Senhor e mostrar nossa disposição de ajudar.
20 Arranging thislest anyone, upon us, should cast blame, in this munificence which is being ministered by us;
20 Com isso, queremos evitar qualquer crítica à nossa maneira de administrar essa oferta generosa.
21 For we provide things honourable, not only before Lord, but also before men.
21 Tomamos o cuidado de agir honradamente não só aos olhos do Senhor, mas também diante das pessoas.
22 Moreover we have set forward, with them, our brother whom we have proved, in many things, ofttimes, earnest,but, now, much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence towards you.
22 Além disso, estamos enviando com eles outro irmão que muitas vezes deu provas de seu bom caráter e que, em várias ocasiões e de diversas maneiras, demonstrou enorme dedicação. E, por causa da grande confiança que ele tem em vocês, agora está ainda mais empolgado.
23 Whether as regardeth Titus, he is a partner of mine, and, towards you, a fellow-worker. or our brethren, apostles of assemblies, and Christs glory.
23 Se alguém lhes perguntar a respeito de Tito, digam que ele é meu colaborador, que trabalha comigo para ajudar vocês. Quanto aos irmãos que o acompanham, foram enviados pelas igrejas e trazem honra a Cristo.
24 The proof of your love, therefore, and of our boasting in your behalf, shew ye, unto them, in the face of the assemblies.
24 Portanto, mostrem diante deles seu amor e provem para todas as igrejas que temos razão ao elogiar vocês.
