1 Samuel 1

1 And there was a certain man, of Ramathaim-zuphi, of the hill country of Ephraim,whose name, was Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, an Ephraimite;
1 Houve um homem de Ramataim-Zofim, da região montanhosa de Efraim, cujo nome era Elcana, filho de Jeroão, filho de Eliú, filho de Toú, filho de Zufe, efraimita.
2 and, he, had two wives, the name of the one, Hannah, and, the name of the other, Peninnah,and Peninnah had children, but, Hannah, had no children.
2 Tinha ele duas mulheres: uma se chamava Ana, e a outra, Penina; Penina tinha filhos; Ana, porém, não os tinha.
3 So then that man went up, out of his city, from time to time, to worship and to sacrifice unto Yahweh of hosts, in Shiloh,and, there, were the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests unto Yahweh.
3 Este homem subia da sua cidade de ano em ano a adorar e a sacrificar ao Senhor dos Exércitos, em Siló. Estavam ali os dois filhos de Eli, Hofni e Fineias, como sacerdotes do Senhor .
4 And, when the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice, he used to give, to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions;
4 No dia em que Elcana oferecia o seu sacrifício, dava ele porções deste a Penina, sua mulher, e a todos os seus filhos e filhas.
5 and, unto Hannah, used he to give one portion,howbeit, Hannah, he loved, although, Yahweh, had restrained her from having children.
5 A Ana, porém, dava porção dupla, porque ele a amava, ainda mesmo que o Senhor a houvesse deixado estéril.
6 And her rival used even to cause her great vexation, for the sake of provoking her,because Yahweh had restrained her from having children.
6 (A sua rival a provocava excessivamente para a irritar, porquanto o Senhor lhe havia cerrado a madre.)
7 And, thus, used she to do, year by year, whenever she went up to the house of Yahweh, thus, used she to vex her,and she wept, and would not eat.
7 E assim o fazia ele de ano em ano; e, todas as vezes que Ana subia à Casa do Senhor , a outra a irritava; pelo que chorava e não comia.
8 So Elkanah her husband said to herHannah! wherefore shouldst thou weep? and wherefore wilt thou not eat? and wherefore should thy heart be sad? Am, I, not better to thee, than ten sons?
8 Então, Elcana, seu marido, lhe disse: Ana, por que choras? E por que não comes? E por que estás de coração triste? Não te sou eu melhor do que dez filhos?
9 And Hannah rose up, after she had eaten in Shiloh, and after she had drunk,and, Eli the priest, was sitting upon his chair, by the door-post of the temple of Yahweh;
9 Após terem comido e bebido em Siló, estando Eli, o sacerdote, assentado numa cadeira, junto a um pilar do templo do Senhor ,
10 and, she being in bitterness of soul, prayed unto Yahweh, and, wept sore.
10 levantou-se Ana, e, com amargura de alma, orou ao Senhor , e chorou abundantemente.
11 And she vowed a vow, and saidYahweh of hosts! If thou wilt, look, upon the humiliation of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child, then will I give him unto Yahweh, all the days of his life, and no, razor, shall come upon his head.
11 E fez um voto, dizendo: Senhor dos Exércitos, se benignamente atentares para a aflição da tua serva, e de mim te lembrares, e da tua serva te não esqueceres, e lhe deres um filho varão, ao Senhor o darei por todos os dias da sua vida, e sobre a sua cabeça não passará navalha.
12 And so it was, as she continued praying before Yahweh, that Eli was watching her mouth.
12 Demorando-se ela no orar perante o Senhor , passou Eli a observar-lhe o movimento dos lábios,
13 But as for, Hannah, she, was speaking in her heart, only her lips, were moving, but, her voice, could not be heard,so Eli thought she had been drunken.
13 porquanto Ana só no coração falava; seus lábios se moviam, porém não se lhe ouvia voz nenhuma; por isso, Eli a teve por embriagada
14 And Eli said unto her, How long, wilt thou be, drunken? Put away thy wine from thee.
14 e lhe disse: Até quando estarás tu embriagada? Aparta de ti esse vinho!
15 And Hannah responded and saidNay! my lord; A woman depressed in spirit, am I: neither wine nor strong drink, have I drunk,but I poured out my soul, before Yahweh.
15 Porém Ana respondeu: Não, senhor meu! Eu sou mulher atribulada de espírito; não bebi nem vinho nem bebida forte; porém venho derramando a minha alma perante o Senhor .
16 Do not count thy handmaid for an abandoned woman,for, out of the abundance of my grief and my vexation, have I spoken, hitherto.
16 Não tenhas, pois, a tua serva por filha de Belial; porque pelo excesso da minha ansiedade e da minha aflição é que tenho falado até agora.
17 Then responded Eli, and saidGo and prosper! And the, God of Israel, grant thy petition which thou hast asked of him!
17 Então, lhe respondeu Eli: Vai-te em paz, e o Deus de Israel te conceda a petição que lhe fizeste.
18 And she said: Let thy serving-woman find favour, in thine eyes. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and, her countenance, was sad no longer.
18 E disse ela: Ache a tua serva mercê diante de ti. Assim, a mulher se foi seu caminho e comeu, e o seu semblante já não era triste.
19 And they rose up early in the morning, and worshipped before Yahweh, and returned, and entered their own house, in Ramah,and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and Yahweh remembered her.
19 Levantaram-se de madrugada, e adoraram perante o Senhor , e voltaram, e chegaram a sua casa, a Ramá. Elcana coabitou com Ana, sua mulher, e, lembrando-se dela o Senhor ,
20 And so it was, when the days had come round during which Hannah was with child, that she bare a son,and called his name Samuel, Because, of Yahweh, I asked him. \fs15
20 ela concebeu e, passado o devido tempo, teve um filho, a que chamou Samuel, pois dizia: Do Senhor o pedi.
21 And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up, to offer unto Yahweh the yearly sacrifice, and his own vow.
21 Subiu Elcana, seu marido, com toda a sua casa, a oferecer ao Senhor o sacrifício anual e a cumprir o seu voto.
22 But, Hannah, went not up,for she said to her husband till the boy is weaned, then will I take him, and he shall appear before Yahweh, and abide there evermore.
22 Ana, porém, não subiu e disse a seu marido: Quando for o menino desmamado, levá-lo-ei para ser apresentado perante o Senhor e para lá ficar para sempre.
23 And Elkanah her husband said to herDo what is good in thine own eyes, tarry until thou have weaned him, only may Yahweh establish his word! So the woman tarried, and nursed her son, until she weaned him.
23 Respondeu-lhe Elcana, seu marido: Faze o que melhor te agrade; fica até que o desmames; tão somente confirme o Senhor a sua palavra. Assim, ficou a mulher e criou o filho ao peito, até que o desmamou.
24 Then took she him up with her, when she had weaned him, with a bullock of three years old, and one ephah of meal, and a skin of wine, and took him to the house of Yahweh, at Shiloh,the boy yet being young.
24 Havendo-o desmamado, levou-o consigo, com um novilho de três anos, um efa de farinha e um odre de vinho, e o apresentou à Casa do Senhor , a Siló. Era o menino ainda muito criança.
25 So they slew the bullock,and took the boy in, unto Eli.
25 Imolaram o novilho e trouxeram o menino a Eli.
26 And she saidPardon, my lord! By the life of thy soul, my lord,I, am the woman who was standing near thee here, praying unto Yahweh:
26 E disse ela: Ah! Meu senhor, tão certo como vives, eu sou aquela mulher que aqui esteve contigo, orando ao Senhor .
27 For this boy, I prayed,And Yahweh hath given me my petition which I asked of him.
27 Por este menino orava eu; e o Senhor me concedeu a petição que eu lhe fizera.
28 Hence, I also, have loaned him unto Yahweh, all the days that he liveth. He, is lent unto Yahweh. And he bowed down there, unto Yahweh.
28 Pelo que também o trago como devolvido ao Senhor , por todos os dias que viver; pois do Senhor o pedi. E eles adoraram ali o Senhor .
