1 And, when the days of David drew near that he must die, he charged Solomon his son, saying:
1 Ora, aproximavam-se os dias da morte de Davi; e ele encarregou a Salomão, o seu filho, dizendo:
2 I, am going the way of all the earth,thou must be strong, therefore, and show thyself a man;
2 Eu vou pelo caminho de toda a terra; sê tu forte, portanto, e mostra-te um homem;
3 and keep the observances of Yahweh thy God, by walking in his ways, by keeping his statutes, his commandments, and his regulations and his testimonies, as written in the law of Moses,to the end thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself;
3 e guarda o encargo do SENHOR teu Deus, para caminhar nos seus caminhos, para guardar os seus estatutos e os seus mandamentos, e os seus juízos, e os seus testemunhos, como está escrito na lei de Moisés, para que possas prosperar em tudo o que fazes, e para onde quer que te voltes;
4 to the end that Yahweh may establish his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy sons will take heed to their way, by walking before me, in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul, (then, said he) there shall not be cut off to thee a man, from off the throne of Israel.
4 para que o SENHOR possa continuar a sua palavra que falou a teu respeito, dizendo: Se os teus filhos atentarem ao seu caminho, para caminharem diante de mim em verdade com todo o seu coração e com toda a sua alma, não te faltará (disse ele) um homem no trono de Israel.
5 Moreover also, thou, knowest what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me, how he dealt with two generals of the armies of Israelwith Abner son of Ner, and with Amasa son of Jetherboth of whom he slew, shedding the blood of war in peace,and putting the blood of war upon his girdle that was on his loins, and upon his sandals, that were on his feet.
5 Além disso, tu sabes também o que Joabe, o filho de Zeruia fez a mim, e o que ele fez aos dois capitães dos exércitos de Israel, a Abner, o filho de Ner, e a Amasa, o filho de Jéter, a quem ele matou, e derramou o sangue da guerra em paz, e colocou o sangue da guerra sobre o seu cinto que estava junto aos seus lombos, e nos seus calçados que estavam nos seus pés.
6 Thou, therefore, must do according to thy wisdom,but will not let his grey hair go down in peace, to hades.
6 Faz, portanto, segundo a tua sabedoria, e não permitas que suas cãs desça ao sepulcro em paz.
7 But, with the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, thou wilt deal in lovingkindness, and they will be among them who eat at thy table,for, so, drew they near unto me, when I fled from Absolom thy brother.
7 Porém, demonstra bondade para com os filhos de Barzilai, o gileadita, e deixa-os estar entre aqueles que comem à tua mesa; pois assim eles vieram a mim quando eu fugia por causa de Absalão, o teu irmão.
8 Lo! also, there is with theeShimei son of Gera a Benjamite, of Behurim, well, he, it was who cursed me with a grievous curse; on the day I journeyed to Mahanaim,but he, came down to meet me, at the Jordan, and so I sware to him by Yahweh, sayingI will not put thee to death, with the sword.
8 E, eis que, tu tens contigo Simei, o filho de Gera, um benjamita de Baurim, o qual me amaldiçoou com uma maldição dolorosa no dia em que fui a Maanaim; mas desceu para se encontrar comigo junto ao Jordão, e eu jurei-lhe pelo SENHOR, dizendo: Não te levarei à morte pela espada.
9 Now, therefore do not hold him guiltless, for, a wise man, thou art, and wilt know how thou oughtest to deal with him, and wilt suffer his grey hairs to go down with blood, to hades.
9 Agora, portanto, não o tenhas por inocente; pois tu és um homem sábio, e sabes o que deves fazer com ele; porém que as suas cãs desçam ao sepulcro com sangue.
10 So then David slept with his fathers,and was buried in the city of David.
10 Assim, Davi dormiu com os seus pais, e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi.
11 Now, the days that David reigned over Israel, were forty years,in Hebron, reigned he seven years, and, in Jerusalem, reigned he thirty and three years.
11 E os dias em que Davi reinou sobre Israel foram quarenta anos; sete anos reinou ele em Hebrom, e trinta e três anos reinou em Jerusalém.
12 But, when, Solomon, took his seat upon the throne of David his father, then was the kingdom firmly established.
12 Depois, assentou-se Salomão no trono de Davi, o seu pai; e o seu reino foi estabelecido magnificamente.
13 And Adonijah son of Haggith came in unto Bath-sheba, mother of Solomon: And she saidPeaceably, comest thou? And he saidPeaceably.
13 E Adonias, o filho de Hagite, veio até Bate-Seba, a mãe de Salomão. E ela disse: Vens tu pacificamente? E ele disse: Pacificamente.
14 Then said heI have somewhat to say unto thee. And she saidSay on.
14 Disse ele também: Tenho algo a te dizer. E ela disse: Prossegue.
15 And he saidThou, knowest that, mine, was the kingdom, and, on me, had all Israel set their faces, that I should become king,howbeit the kingdom, hath turned about, and become my brothers, for, from Yahweh, became it, his.
15 E ele disse: Tu sabes que o reino era meu, e que todo o Israel virou a face para mim, para que eu reinasse; todavia o reino sofreu reviravolta, e tornou-se do meu irmão; pois era dele da parte do SENHOR.
16 Now, therefore, one request, have I to ask of thee, do not turn away my face.
16 E, agora, faço uma petição a ti, não me negues. E ela lhe disse: Prossegue.
17 And she said unto himSay on. And he saidSpeak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, for he will not turn away thy face,that he give me Abishag the Shunammite, to wife.
17 E ele disse: Dize ao rei Salomão, (pois ele não te dirá um não) para que ele me dê Abisague, a sunamita, como esposa.
18 And Bath-sheba said: Good! I myself, will speak for thee, unto the king.
18 E Bate-Seba disse: Bem, falarei por ti ao rei.
19 So Bath-sheba went in unto King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah,and the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself down to her, and sat down upon his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the mother of the king, and she sat on his right hand.
19 Bate-Seba, portanto, foi até ao rei Salomão, para falar com ele em favor de Adonias. E o rei se levantou para se encontrar com ela, e se curvou diante dela, e se assentou no seu trono, e fez com que um assento fosse preparado para a mãe do rei; e ela se assentou à sua direita.
20 Then said sheOne small request, am I asking of thee, do not turn away my face. And the king said to herAsk on, my mother, for I will not turn away thy face.
20 Então, ela disse: Desejo de ti uma pequena petição; rogo-te, não me digas um não. E o rei lhe disse: Pede, minha mãe; pois não te direi um não.
21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother, to wife.
21 E ela disse: Que Abisague, a sunamita, seja dada a Adonias, o teu irmão, como esposa.
22 Then answered King Solomon, and said to his motherWherefore, then, art thou asking Abishag the Shunammite, for Adonijah? ask, then, for him the kingdom, because he is mine elder brother,even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab, son of Zeruiah.
22 E o rei Salomão respondeu e disse à sua mãe: E por que pedes tu Abisague, a sunamita, para Adonias? Pede também para ele o reino; pois é meu irmão mais velho, sim para ele, e para o sacerdote Abiatar, e para Joabe, filho de Zeruia.
23 Then swore King Solomon by Yahweh, saying,So, let God do to me, and, so, let him add, if, at the cost of his life, Adonijah hath not spoken this word.
23 Então, o rei Salomão jurou pelo SENHOR, dizendo: Assim Deus me faça, e mais ainda, se não falou Adonias esta palavra contra a sua própria vida.
24 Now, therefore, by the life of Yahweh, who hath established me, and seated me upon the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me a household, as he had spoken, surely, to-day, shall Adonijah be put to death!
24 Agora, portanto, como vive o SENHOR, o qual me estabeleceu, e me pôs sobre o trono de Davi, o meu pai, e que tem feito para mim uma casa, segundo prometeu: Adonias será levado à morte neste dia.
25 So King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada,and he fell upon him, that he died.
25 E o rei Salomão enviou pela mão de Benaia, o filho de Joiada; o qual arremeteu contra ele, de forma que ele morreu.
26 Also, unto Abiathar the priest, said the kingTo Anathoth, get thee unto thine own fields, for, death-doomed, thou art,but, this day, will I not put thee to death, because thou didst bear the ark of My Lord, Yahweh, before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.
26 E para Abiatar, o sacerdote, disse o rei: Vai-te para Anatote, para os teus próprios campos; pois tu és digno de morte; mas, desta vez, não te levarei à morte, porque tu carregaste a Arca do SENHOR Deus adiante de Davi, o meu pai, e porquanto tu foste afligido em tudo o que meu pai estava aflito.
27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto Yahweh,to fulfil the word of Yahweh which he spake concerning the household of Eli, in Shiloh.
27 Assim, Salomão expulsou Abiatar do sacerdócio do SENHOR; para que ele pudesse cumprir a palavra do SENHOR, a qual ele falou a respeito da casa de Eli em Siló.
28 And, the report, came unto Joab, for, Joab, had inclined after Adonijah, although, after Solomon, he had not inclined,so then Joab fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and laid hold of the horns of the altar.
28 Então chegaram novas a Joabe; porque Joabe havia se desviado após Adonias, embora não tivesse se desviado após Absalão. E Joabe fugiu para o tabernáculo do SENHOR, e se agarrou aos chifres do altar.
29 And it was told King SolomonJoab hath fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and, there he is, beside the altar. So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, sayingGo fall upon him!
29 E contaram ao rei Salomão que Joabe havia fugido para o tabernáculo do SENHOR; e, eis que ele está junto ao altar. Então, Salomão enviou Benaia, o filho de Joiada, dizendo: Vai, cai sobre ele.
30 And Benaiah came into the Tent of Yahweh, and said unto himThus, saith the king, Come forth! And he saidNay! but, here, will I die! So Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus, spake Joab, and, thus, he answered me.
30 E Benaia veio até o tabernáculo do SENHOR, e disse-lhe: Assim diz o rei: Sai. E ele disse: Não; mas morrerei aqui. E Benaia trouxe novamente palavra ao rei, dizendo: Assim disse Joabe, e assim me respondeu.
31 And the king said to himDo as he hath spoken, fall, then, upon him, and bury him,and so put away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;
31 E disse-lhe o rei: Faz como ele disse, e cai sobre ele, e sepulta-o; para que tu possas remover o sangue inocente que Joabe derramou de mim e da casa do meu pai.
32 thus will Yahweh bring back his blood upon his own head, in that he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing it,even Abner son of Ner, general of the army of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, general of the army of Judah;
32 E o SENHOR devolverá o seu sangue sobre a sua própria cabeça, que caiu sobre dois homens mais justos e melhores do que ele, e os matou com a espada, sem o conhecimento do meu pai Davi, a saber, Abner, o filho de Ner, capitão do exército de Israel, e Amasa, o filho de Jéter, capitão do exército de Judá.
33 thus shall their blood come back upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed unto times age-abiding,but, David and his seed, and his house, and his throne, shall have peace, unto times age-abiding, from Yahweh.
33 O sangue deles, portanto, retornará sobre a cabeça de Joabe, e sobre a cabeça da sua semente para sempre; mas sobre Davi, e sobre a sua semente, e sobre a sua casa, e sobre o seu trono, haverá paz do SENHOR para sempre.
34 So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and put him to death,and he was buried in his own house, in the wilderness.
34 Assim subiu Benaia, o filho de Joiada, e arremeteu contra ele, e o matou; e foi sepultado na sua própria casa no deserto.
35 And the king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada, in his stead, over the army,and, Zadok the priest, did the king put in the stead of Abiathar.
35 E o rei colocou Benaia, o filho de Joiada, em seu lugar sobre o exército; e Zadoque, o sacerdote, o rei colocou no lugar de Abiatar.
36 And the king sent, and called for Shimei, and said to himBuild thee a house, in Jerusalem, so shalt thou dwell there,and shalt not go forth from thence, hither or thither;
36 E o rei mandou chamar Simei, e disse-lhe: Edifica para ti uma casa em Jerusalém, e habita ali, e dali não vás para nenhum outro lugar.
37 but it shall be that, on the day thou goest forth, and passest over the Kidron ravine, know, that thou shalt, die,thy blood, shall be, upon thine own head.
37 Porque sucederá que, no dia em que saíres, e atravessares o ribeiro de Cedrom, saberás com certeza que seguramente morrerás; o teu sangue estará sobre a tua própria cabeça.
38 And Shimei said to the kingGood, is the word, as my lord the king hath spoken, so, will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
38 E Simei disse ao rei: O dizer é bom; como o meu senhor, o rei, disse, assim fará o teu servo. E Simei habitou em Jerusalém muitos dias.
39 But it came to pass, at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei fled unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath,and they told Shimei, sayingLo! thy servants are in Gath.
39 E sucedeu, ao fim de três anos, que dois dos servos de Simei fugiram para Aquis, filho de Maaca, rei de Gate. E contaram a Simei, dizendo: Eis que os teus servos estão em Gate.
40 So Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servantsand Shimei went and brought in his servants, from Gath.
40 E Simei se levantou, e selou a sua mula, e foi a Gate ter com Aquis, para procurar os seus servos; e Simei foi, e trouxe os seus servos de Gate.
41 And it was told SolomonShimei hath been out of Jerusalem to Gath, and returned.
41 E contaram a Salomão que Simei tinha ido de Jerusalém a Gate, e estava de volta.
42 Then sent the king and called for Shimei, and said unto himDid I not put thee on oath by Yahweh, and adjure thee, sayingOn the day thou goest forth and takest thy journey hither or thither, know, that thou shalt, die. Then saidst thou unto meGood, is the word I have heard.
42 E o rei mandou chamar Simei, e lhe disse: Não te fiz jurar pelo SENHOR e protestei contigo, dizendo: Sabe por certo que, no dia em que tu saíres, e caminhares para qualquer lugar, que, seguramente, morrerás? E tu me disseste: A palavra que ouvi é boa.
43 Why then, hast thou not kept the oath of Yahweh,and the charge which I laid upon thee?
43 Por que, então não guardaste o juramento do SENHOR, e o mandamento com o qual que te ordenei?
44 Then said the king unto ShimeiThou, knowest all the wickedness which thy heart is privy to, which thou didst unto David my father,therefore shall Yahweh bring back thy wickedness, upon thine own head.
44 Além disso, o rei disse a Simei: Tu conheces toda a iniquidade com a qual o teu coração está familiarizado, que tu fizeste a Davi, o meu pai; portanto o SENHOR devolverá a tua iniquidade sobre a tua própria cabeça;
45 But, King Solomon, shall be blessed,and, the throne of David, shall be established before Yahweh, unto times age-abiding.
45 e o rei Salomão será bendito, e o trono de Davi será estabelecido diante do SENHOR para sempre.
46 So the king charged Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and fell upon him, that he died,and, the kingdom, was established in the hand of Solomon.
46 Assim, o rei ordenou Benaia, o filho de Joiada; o qual saiu, e arremeteu contra ele, de modo que morreu. E o reino foi estabelecido na mão de Salomão.
