1 Then the accuser stood up, against Israel,and moved David, to number Israel.
1 E Satanás se levantou contra Israel, e incitou Davi a enumerar Israel.
2 And David said unto Joab and unto the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel, from Beer-sheba even unto Dan,and bring unto me, that I may know the number of them.
2 E Davi disse a Joabe e aos governantes do povo: Ide, enumerai Israel desde Berseba até Dã; e trazei o número deles para mim, para que eu possa sabê-lo.
3 Then said Joab, May Yahweh add unto his people, as many as they are, a hundred times, but are they not, my lord O king, all of them my lords, as servants? wherefore should my lord seek this? wherefore should it become guilt to Israel?
3 E Joabe respondeu: O SENHOR faça o seu povo uma centena de vezes maior do que ele é; mas, meu senhor e rei, não são todos servos do meu senhor? Por que então o meu senhor requer esta coisa? Por que será ele causa de transgressão para Israel?
4 But, the word of the king, prevailed against Joab,and Joab departed, and went to and fro throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
4 Todavia, a palavra do rei prevaleceu contra Joabe. Pelo que Joabe partiu, e foi por todo o Israel, e voltou para Jerusalém.
5 And Joab delivered the sum of the number of the people, unto David,and all Israel was found to be a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men, who drew sword, and Judah, four hundred and seventy thousand men, who drew sword.
5 E Joabe deu a soma do número do povo a Davi. E todos os de Israel eram um milhão e cem mil homens que empunhavam a espada; e Judá era quatrocentos e setenta mil homens que empunhavam espada.
6 But, Levi and Benjamin, counted he not among them,for detestable was the word of the king unto Joab.
6 Porém, Levi e Benjamim ele não contou entre eles; porque a palavra do rei foi abominável para Joabe.
7 And it was displeasing in the eyes of God, concerning this thing,therefore smote he Israel.
7 Isso desagradou a Deus, portanto ele feriu Israel.
8 And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing,but, now, I beseech thee, take away the iniquity of thy servant, for I have shown myself very foolish.
8 E Davi disse a Deus: Pequei grandemente em fazer isso; mas, agora, imploro-te, remove a iniquidade do teu servo; por eu ter feito mui tolamente.
9 Then spake Yahweh unto Gad, the seer of David saying:
9 E o SENHOR falou a Gade, o vidente de Davi, dizendo:
10 Goand thou shalt speak unto David, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh, Three things, do I offer thee,choose thee one from among them, that I may do it unto thee.
10 Vai e conta a Davi, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR: Ofereço-te três coisas, escolhe para ti uma delas, para que eu possa fazê-la a ti.
11 So Gad came unto David,and said to him, Thus, saith Yahweh,
11 Assim, Gade veio até Davi, e disse a ele: Assim diz o SENHOR: Escolhe para ti:
12 Choose thee:Whether, for three years, famine, Or, for three months, that thou flee before thine adversaries, while the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee, Or, for three days, the sword of Yahweh, and pestilence be in the land, with, the messenger of Yahweh, laying waste throughout all the boundary of Israel,Now, therefore, see, what, answer, I shall return unto him that sent me.
12 ou três anos de fome; ou três meses para seres destruído diante dos teus inimigos, enquanto a espada dos teus inimigos te supere; ou, ainda, três dias da espada do SENHOR; a saber, a peste na terra, e o anjo do SENHOR destruindo ao longo de toda costa de Israel. Agora, portanto, aconselha-te de qual palavra trarei de volta àquele que me enviou.
13 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait,Oh let me fall, I pray thee, into the hand of Yahweh, for abounding are his compassions, exceedingly, but, into the hand of man, let me not fall.
13 E Davi disse a Gade: Estou em um grande aperto; que caiamos, agora, na mão do SENHOR; porque mui grandes são as suas misericórdias; mas que eu não caia na mão de homem.
14 So Yahweh laid pestilence, upon Israel,and there fell, of Israel, seventy thousand men.
14 Assim, o SENHOR enviou peste sobre Israel; e ali caíram de Israel setenta mil homens.
15 And God sent a messenger to Jerusalem, to lay it waste, but, as he was laying it waste, Yahweh looked, and relented concerning the calamity, and said unto the messenger who was laying waste, Enough! now, stay thy hand. And, the messenger of Yahweh, was standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
15 E Deus enviou um anjo a Jerusalém para destruí-la; e enquanto ele a estava destruindo, o SENHOR olhou, e se arrependeu do mal, e disse ao anjo que destruía: Basta, detém agora a tua mão. E o anjo do SENHOR se pôs de pé junto à eira de Ornã, o jebuseu.
16 And, when David lifted up his eyes, and saw the messenger of Yahweh, standing, between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn, in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, then fell David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, upon their faces.
16 E Davi ergueu os seus olhos, e viu o anjo do SENHOR de pé entre a terra e o céu, tendo a espada desembainhada na sua mão estendida sobre Jerusalém. Então, Davi e os anciãos de Israel, que estavam vestidos de pano de saco, caíram sobre as suas faces.
17 And David said unto God, Was it not, I, who gave word to number the people? Yea, I, it was who sinned and did the great wrong, what then had, these sheep, done? O Yahweh, my God, let thy hand, I beseech thee, be against me, and against the house of my father, but not against, thy people, that they should be plagued!
17 E Davi disse a Deus: Não sou eu quem ordenou que o povo fosse enumerado? Eu mesmo que pequei e fiz muito mal; mas quanto a estas ovelhas, o que elas fizeram? Que a tua mão, suplico-te, ó SENHOR meu Deus, esteja sobre mim, e sobre a casa do meu pai; mas não sobre o teu povo, para que sejam atormentados.
18 And, the messenger of Yahweh, commanded Gad, to say unto David,that David should go up, to rear an altar unto Yahweh, in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
18 Então, o anjo do SENHOR mandou Gade dizer a Davi, que Davi deveria subir à eira de Ornã, o jebuseu, e erguer um altar ao SENHOR.
19 So David went up, according to the word of Gad, which he spake in the name of Yahweh.
19 E Davi subiu, diante da palavra de Gade, a qual ele falou em nome do SENHOR.
20 And Ornan turned, and saw the messenger, but, his four sons with him, were hiding themselves,now, Ornan, had been threshing wheat.
20 E Ornã volveu-se, e viu o anjo; e ele com seus quatro filhos se esconderam. Ora, Ornã estava joeirando trigo.
21 Then came David unto Ornan,and Ornan looked, and saw David, and went forth out of the threshing-floor, and bowed himself unto David, with his face to the ground.
21 E enquanto Davi vinha até Ornã, Ornã olhou e viu Davi, e saiu da eira, e se prostrou diante de Davi com a sua face no chão.
22 And David said unto Ornan, Grant me the place of the threshing-floor, that I may build thereon an altar, unto Yahweh,for silver in full, shalt thou grant it me, that the plague may be stayed from off the people.
22 Então, Davi disse a Ornã: Concede-me o lugar desta eira para que nela eu possa edificar um altar ao SENHOR; tu me concederás pelo preço cheio, para que a praga possa ser detida do povo.
23 And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do what is good in his own eyes,see! I have given the oxen for ascending-sacrifices, and, the threshing implements for wood, and the wheat for a meal-offering,the whole, have I given.
23 E Ornã disse a Davi: Toma-a para ti, e que o meu senhor, o rei, faça aquilo que é bom aos seus olhos; eis que te dou também os bois por ofertas queimadas, e os instrumentos da eira por lenha, e o trigo por oferta de alimentos; tudo te dou.
24 Then said King David to Ornan, Nay! but I will, surely buy, it for silver in full,for I will not take that which is thine for Yahweh, nor offer an ascending-sacrifice that hath cost me nothing.
24 E o rei Davi disse a Ornã: Não; mas, verdadeiramente, comprá-la-ei pelo preço cheio; porque não tomarei aquilo que é teu para o SENHOR, tampouco oferecerei ofertas queimadas sem custo.
25 So David gave to Ornan, for the place,shekels of gold, by weight, six hundred.
25 Assim, Davi deu a Ornã, pelo lugar o peso de seiscentos shekels de ouro.
26 And David built there an altar unto Yahweh, and caused to go up ascending-sacrifices, and peace-offerings,and called unto Yahweh, and he responded to him, by fire, out of the heavens, upon the altar of ascending-sacrifice.
26 E Davi edificou ali um altar ao SENHOR, e ofereceu ofertas queimadas e ofertas de paz, e clamou ao SENHOR; e ele lhe respondeu do céu com fogo sobre o altar da oferta queimada.
27 And Yahweh gave word to tile messenger, and he put back his sword into its sheath.
27 E o SENHOR ordenou ao anjo, e ele voltou a pôr a espada na sua bainha.
28 At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
28 Naquele momento, quando Davi viu que o SENHOR havia lhe respondido na eira de Ornã, o jebuseu; ofereceu ali sacrifícios.
29 But, the habitation of Yahweh, which Moses made in the desert, and the altar of ascending-sacrifice, were, at that time, in the high place at Gibeon;
29 Porque o tabernáculo do SENHOR, o qual Moisés fez no deserto, e o altar da oferta queimada, estavam naquele tempo no lugar alto de Gibeão.
30 and David could not go before it, to seek God,for he had been terrified, because of the sword of the messenger of Yahweh.
30 Porém, Davi não conseguiu ir diante dele para indagar a Deus; porque ele estava atemorizado por causa da espada do anjo do SENHOR.
