1 I, therefore, brethren, when I came unto you, came, not with excellency of discourse or wisdom, declaring unto you the mystery of God;
1 Irmãos, na primeira vez que estive com vocês, não usei palavras eloquentes nem sabedoria humana para lhes apresentar o plano secreto de Deus.
2 For I had not determined to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ,and, him, as one who had been crucified!
2 Pois decidi que, enquanto estivesse com vocês, me esqueceria de tudo exceto de Jesus Cristo, aquele que foi crucificado.
3 I, therefore in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling, came to be with you,
3 Fui até vocês em fraqueza, atemorizado e trêmulo.
4 And, my discourse, and what I proclaimed, were not in suasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of Spirit and power:
4 Minha mensagem e minha pregação foram muito simples. Em vez de usar argumentos persuasivos e astutos, me firmei no poder do Espírito.
5 In order that, your faith, might not be in mens wisdom, but in Gods power.
5 Agi desse modo para que vocês não se apoiassem em sabedoria humana, mas no poder de Deus.
6 Wisdom, however, we do speak, among the full-grown,wisdom, indeed, not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are to come to nought;
6 No entanto, quando estamos entre pessoas maduras, falamos com palavras de sabedoria, mas não com o tipo de sabedoria desta era ou de seus governantes, que logo caem no esquecimento.
7 But we speak, Gods, wisdom, in a sacred secret, that hidden , which God marked out beforehand, before the ages, for our glory,
7 Pelo contrário, a sabedoria a que nos referimos é o mistério de Deus, seu plano antes secreto e oculto, embora ele o tenha elaborado para nossa glória antes do começo do mundo.
8 Which, none of the rulers of this age had come to know, for, had they known, not, in that case, the Lord of the glory, would they have crucified!
8 Os governantes desta era, por sua vez, não a entenderam, pois se a houvessem entendido não teriam crucificado o Senhor da glória.
9 But, even as it is writtenThe things which eye hath not seen, and ear hath not heard, and upon the heart of man have not come up,whatsoever things God hath prepared for them that love him,
9 É a isso que as Escrituras se referem quando dizem: “Olho nenhum viu, ouvido nenhum ouviu, e mente nenhuma imaginou o que Deus preparou para aqueles que o amam”.
10 Unto us, in fact, hath God revealed through the Spirit; for, the Spirit, into all things, maketh search, yea! the deep things of God.
10 Mas foi a nós que Deus revelou estas coisas por seu Espírito. Pois o Espírito sonda todas as coisas, até os segredos mais profundos de Deus.
11 For who of men knoweth the things of a man,save the spirit of the man that is in him? thus, even the things of God, hath no one come to know, save the Spirit of God.
11 Pois quem conhece os pensamentos de uma pessoa, senão o próprio espírito dela? Da mesma forma, ninguém conhece os pensamentos de Deus, senão o Espírito de Deus.
12 But, as for us,not the spirit of the world, have we received, but the Spirit which is of God,that we might know the things which, by God, have been given in favour unto us:
12 E nós recebemos o Espírito de Deus, e não o espírito deste mundo, para que conheçamos as coisas maravilhosas que Deus nos tem dado gratuitamente.
13 Which we also speaknot in words taught of human wisdom, but in such as are taught of Spirit, by spiritual words, spiritual things, explaining.
13 Quando lhes dizemos isso, não empregamos palavras vindas da sabedoria humana, mas palavras que nos foram ensinadas pelo Espírito, explicando verdades espirituais a pessoas espirituais.
14 But, a man of the soul, doth not welcome the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, and he cannot get to know them, because, spiritually, are they examined;
14 Mas o homem natural não aceita as verdades do Espírito de Deus. Elas lhe parecem loucura, e ele não consegue entendê-las, pois apenas quem é espiritual consegue avaliar corretamente o que diz o Espírito.
15 But, the man of the spirit, on the one hand, examineth all things, but, on the other, he himself, by no one, is examined.
15 Quem é espiritual pode avaliar todas as coisas, mas ele próprio não pode ser avaliado por outros.
16 For who hath come to know the mind of the Lord, that shall instruct him? But, we, have, the mind of Christ.
16 Pois, “Quem conhece os pensamentos do Senhor? Quem sabe o suficiente para instruí-lo?”. Mas nós temos a mente de Cristo.
