1 MEANWHILE, as the myriads of the crowd were thronging together so that they trod down one another, he began and said to his disciples first, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, that is, their hypocrisy.
1 Enquanto isso ajuntou-se uma multidão de inúmeras pessoas, de tal modo que pisoteavam umas as outras, e ele começou a dizer primeiro aos seus discípulos: Cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus, que é a hipocrisia.
2 For nothing is covered up which will not be revealed, nor secret which will not be known.
2 Porque não há nada encoberto que não seja revelado, nem oculto que não venha a se tornar conhecido.
3 Whatever you have said in darkness will, on the contrary, be heard in the light, and what you have spoken into the ear in inner moms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
3 Porquanto tudo o que em trevas falastes, será ouvido na luz, e o que nos quartos tiverdes falado nos ouvidos, será proclamado dos telhados.
4 I tell you, my friends, never fear those who kill the body and after that have nothing more that they can do.
4 E eu vos digo meus amigos: Não tenham medo dos que matam o corpo e depois não têm mais o que fazer.
5 But I will show you whom you should fear. Fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I say, fear him.
5 Mas eu vos mostrarei a quem deveis temer: Temei aquele que, depois de matar, tem poder para lançar no inferno; sim, eu vos digo, a esse temei.
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.
6 Não se vendem cinco pardais por dois asses e nenhum deles fica esquecido diante de Deus?
7 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Never fear; you are worth more than many sparrows.
7 Mas até os cabelos da vossa cabeça estão todos contados. Não temais, porque valeis mais do que muitos pardais.
8 But I tell you every one who confesses me before men, him will the Son of Man confess before the angels of God.
8 Eu também vos digo: Todo aquele que me confessar diante dos homens, também o Filho do homem o confessará diante dos anjos de Deus;
9 And he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.
9 mas quem me negar diante dos homens, será negado diante dos anjos de Deus.
10 Every one who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but he who says profane words against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
10 E a todo aquele que falar uma palavra contra o Filho do homem, lhe será perdoada, mas ao que blasfemar contra o Espírito Santo não lhe será perdoado.
11 When they bring you in before synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not be anxious about how to defend yourselves or what to say.
11 E, quando eles vos conduzirem às sinagogas, aos magistrados e poderosos, não cuideis de como ou o que respondereis, ou o que direis;
12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that hour what you must say."
12 porque o Espírito Santo vos ensinará na mesma hora o que deveis dizer.
13 One out of the crowd said to him, "Teacher, bid my brother to divide the inheritance with me."
13 E disse-lhe um da multidão: Mestre, fala ao meu irmão que ele divida comigo a herança.
14 But he said, "Man, who appointed me judge or divider over you?"
14 E ele lhe disse: Homem, quem me fez por juiz ou um divisor entre vós?
15 He said to them, "See to it and be on your guard against every form of covetousness, for not even when one has a superabundance is his life from the things he owns."
15 E ele disse-lhes: Acautelai-vos e guardai-vos da cobiça; porque a vida do homem não consiste na abundância das coisas que ele possui.
16 He gave them an illustration, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man yielded abundantly.
16 E ele falou-lhes uma parábola, dizendo: A terra de um certo homem rico produziu com abundância;
17 He debated within himself, saying, 'What shall I do? for I have no place to store my crops.'
17 e ele pensava consigo mesmo, dizendo: O que eu farei pois não tenho espaço para guardar os meus frutos?
18 Then he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and will build larger ones, and there I will store all my wheat and my goods;
18 E ele disse: Eu farei isto: derrubarei os meus celeiros, e edificarei maiores, e ali eu colocarei todos os meus frutos e os meus bens.
19 and I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years, take your ease, eat, drink, be merry!'
19 E eu direi à minha alma: Alma, tens em depósito muitos bens, para muitos anos; descansa, come, bebe e alegra-te.
20 But God said to him, 'Foolish man, this night your soul will be required of you; and the things that you have prepared \'97 whose will they be?'
20 Mas Deus lhe disse: Tolo, esta noite te requisitarão tua alma, e de quem serão estas coisas que tu preparaste?
21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God."
21 Assim é aquele que para si ajunta tesouros, e não é rico para com Deus.
22 He said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, never worry about your life, what you are to eat, nor about your body, what you are to put on.
22 E ele disse aos seus discípulos: Por isso eu vos digo: Não sejais cuidadosos quanto à vossa vida, pelo que haveis de comer, nem quanto ao vosso corpo, pelo que haveis de vestir.
23 For the life is more than the food and the body is more than the clothing.
23 A vida é mais do que a comida, e o corpo é mais do que o vestuário.
24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have neither granary nor barn; yet God feeds them. How much more you are worth than the birds!
24 Considerai os corvos, que não semeiam, nem colhem, nem têm despensa, nem celeiro, e Deus os alimenta; quanto mais sois vós mais valiosos do que as aves?
25 Which of you can by worrying add a foot to his height?
25 E qual de vós poderá, com os seus cuidados, acrescentar um côvado à sua estatura?
26 If you cannot do the least, why do you worry about the rest?
26 Então se não sois capazes de fazer as coisas mínimas, por que andais cuidadosos com o restante?
27 Consider the lilies, how they neither spin nor weave. Yet I tell you even Solomon in all his splendor was not arrayed like one of these.
27 Considerai os lírios, como eles crescem; eles não trabalham, nem fiam; e eu vos digo que Salomão em toda a sua glória não se vestiu como um deles.
28 But if God so clothes the herbage which to-day is in the field and to-morrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O men of little faith!
28 Então se Deus assim veste a erva, que hoje está no campo e amanhã é lançada no forno, quanto mais vestirá a vós, Oh pequena fé?
29 Do not seek after something to eat and something to drink, and do not be agitated by cares.
29 E não busqueis o que comer, ou o que beber, nem sejais de mente duvidosa.
30 For these things all the nations of the world are seeking after.
30 Porque todas estas coisas as nações do mundo buscam; mas vosso Pai sabe que necessitais destas coisas.
31 But strive for his kingdom and these things will be provided for you.
31 Mas antes, buscai o reino de Deus, e todas essas coisas vos serão acrescentadas.
32 Never fear, little flock! For it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
32 Não temas, ó pequenino rebanho, porque é aprazível a vosso Pai dar-vos o reino.
33 Sell what you have and give gifts of mercy. Make for yourselves purses that never grow old, an unfailing treasure in heaven where no thief approaches nor moth consumes;
33 Vendei o que tendes, e dai esmolas; provei para vós bolsas que não envelheçam, tesouro inesgotável nos céus, aonde não chega ladrão, nem a traça corrói.
34 for where your treasure is there your heart will be.
34 Porque onde estiver o vosso tesouro, aí estará também o vosso coração.
35 Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning;
35 Estejam cingidos os vossos lombos, e as vossas lâmpadas acesas,
36 and be like men expecting their Master when he returns from the wedding, so that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.
36 e sede vós semelhantes aos homens que esperam que o seu senhor retorne das bodas, para que, quando ele vier e bater, eles possam abrir-lhe imediatamente.
37 Blessed are those servants whom the Master, when he comes, will find watching! Truly I tell you he will gird himself and make them recline at the table and will come and wait on them.
37 Abençoados são aqueles servos que, quando vier o senhor, os ache vigiando; em verdade eu vos digo que ele se cingirá, e os fará assentar à mesa, e, chegando-se, os servirá.
38 If he comes in the second watch or in the third watch and finds them so, blessed are they!
38 E, se ele vier na segunda vigília, ou vier na terceira vigília, e assim os encontrar, abençoados são estes servos.
39 But know this, if the householder had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.
39 Mas sabei isto: que se o dono da casa soubesse a que hora viria o ladrão, ele teria vigiado, e não teria permitido que arrombasse a sua casa.
40 And you be ready, for in an hour that you do not think the Son of Man is coming."
40 Por isso, estai vós prontos também; porque o Filho do homem vem em uma hora que não penseis.
41 Peter said, "Master, do you intend this illustration for us or for all?"
41 Então, Pedro lhe disse: Senhor, dizes essa parábola a nós, ou também a todos?
42 The Master said, "Who then is the faithful, the wise, manager whom the master will appoint over his establishment to give out rations at the proper time?
42 E disse o Senhor: Qual é, pois, o mordomo fiel e prudente, que seu senhor fará governante sobre os servos, para lhes dar uma porção de alimento na estação devida?
43 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing!
43 Abençoado é aquele servo, a quem o senhor, quando vier, achar fazendo assim.
44 I tell you truly he will appoint him over all his possessions.
44 Em verdade eu vos digo que ele o fará governante sobre tudo o que ele tem.
45 But if that servant says in his heart, 'My master will be long in coming,' and begins to strike the men servants and the maids and to eat and drink and get drunk,
45 Mas, e se aquele servo disser em seu coração: O meu senhor atrasa em sua vinda, e começa a espancar os servos e servas, e a comer e a beber, e a embriagar-se,
46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not expecting and at an hour that he does not know, and will cut him in two and appoint his portion with the unfaithful.
46 o senhor daquele servo virá em um dia quando ele não espera, e em uma hora quando ele não estiver ciente, e açoitá-lo-á severamente e irá designar-lhe sua porção com os incrédulos.
47 That servant who knew his master's will and is not ready, and has not done according to his will, will be beaten with many lashes.
47 E o servo que sabia a vontade do seu senhor e não se preparou, nem fez conforme a sua vontade, será castigado com muitos açoites.
48 But he who did not know and yet has done things worthy of lashes will be beaten with few. From every one to whom much was given, much will be required, and from him to whom they have committed much, men will ask the more.
48 Mas, o que a não sabia e fez coisas dignas de açoites, será castigado com poucos açoites. Porque a quem quer que muito for dado, muito será requerido dele; e para o homem que muito foi confiado, muito mais se exigirá dele.
49 "I came to cast fire on the earth, and what will I, if it is already kindled?
49 Eu vim para lançar fogo na terra; e o que eu quero, se este já está aceso?
50 I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how am I distressed until it is accomplished!
50 Mas eu tenho um batismo para ser batizado; e como estou afligido até que venha a cumprir-se!
51 Do you think that I came to give peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but dissension.
51 Suponhas que eu vim dar paz à terra? Eu vos digo: Não; mas antes divisão.
52 There will be from now on five in one house split into parties, three against two and two against three,
52 Porque, daqui em diante, estarão cinco divididos em uma casa; três contra dois, e dois contra três.
53 father against son, and son against father, mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
53 O pai estará dividido contra o filho, e o filho contra o pai; a mãe contra a filha, e a filha contra a mãe; a sogra contra a sua nora, e a nora contra sua sogra.
54 He said also to the crowds, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, at once you say, 'A shower is coming,' and so it happens.
54 E ele também dizia à multidão: Quando vedes subir uma nuvem do oeste, imediatamente dizeis: Lá vem chuva; e assim acontece.
55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, 'There will be burning heat,' and so it happens.
55 E quando vedes soprar o vento sul, dizeis: Haverá calor; e assim acontece.
56 Hypocrites, you know how to interpret the face of the earth and the sky, why do you not interpret this crisis?
56 Hipócritas, podeis discernir a face da terra e do céu; mas, como não discernis este tempo?
57 Why do you not of yourselves judge correctly?
57 Sim, e por que vós mesmos não julgam o que é certo?
58 As you are going with your opponent to the magistrate, take pains on the road to get free from him, so that he may not drag you before the judge and the judge deliver you to the officer and the officer cast you into prison.
58 Porque, quando fores com o teu adversário ao magistrado, esforça-te para pôr em ordem o assunto com ele no caminho, para que ele não te arraste ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao oficial, e o oficial te lance na prisão.
59 I tell you you will not come out until you pay in full to the last penny."
59 Eu te digo que não sairás de lá enquanto não pagares o último ceitil.
