1 The word of Jehovah came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet. It was in the eighth month, in the second year of Darius the king:
1 No oitavo mês do segundo ano de Dario como rei da Pérsia, o Senhor Deus falou com o profeta Zacarias, filho de Baraquias e neto de Ido. O Deus Todo-Poderoso mandou que ele dissesse ao povo o seguinte:
2 Jehovah was very angry with your fathers.
2 — Eu, o Senhor , fiquei muito irado com os seus antepassados.
3 Tell them, Jehovah of Hosts has said: »Jehovah of Hosts says return to me and I will return to you.«
3 Portanto, agora eu digo a vocês: Voltem para mim, e eu, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso, voltarei para vocês.
4 »Do not be like your fathers! The former prophets declared: Jehovah of Hosts said, I implore you, return from your evil ways, and from your wicked activities! But they did not listen, they paid no attention to me,« said Jehovah.
4 Não sejam como os seus antepassados, que não deram atenção aos profetas antigos quando eles anunciaram esta minha mensagem: “O Senhor Todo-Poderoso ordena que vocês deixem de ser maus e que abandonem as suas maldades.” Mas eles não me obedeceram.
5 »Your fathers, where are they? The prophets, do they live forever?
5 E agora onde estão os seus antepassados? E será que aqueles profetas ainda estão vivos?
6 »I commanded my servants the prophets to obey my words and my statutes. They disregarded them and suffered greatly. Then they repented and admitted that I, Jehovah of Hosts, corrected them as they deserved according to their deeds.«
6 Por meio dos meus servos , os profetas, eu mandei mensagens e avisos aos antepassados de vocês. Mas eles não deram atenção e por isso foram castigados. Então eles se arrependeram e disseram: “O Senhor Todo-Poderoso fez o que tinha decidido fazer e nos castigou por causa dos nossos pecados. Ele fez o que merecíamos.”
7 In the second year that Darius was king, on the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month the month of Shebat, Jehovah gave me a message in a vision at night.
7 No dia vinte e quatro do mês onze, chamado sebate , do segundo ano do reinado de Dario, eu, o profeta Zacarias, filho de Baraquias e neto de Ido, recebi uma mensagem de Deus, o Senhor .
8 He said: »I had a vision in the night. I saw someone riding a red horse. He stopped among some myrtle trees in a valley, and behind him were other horses, red, speckled, and white.«
8 Naquela noite, tive uma visão e nela vi um anjo do Senhor montado num cavalo vermelho. O anjo estava parado num vale, no meio de umas moitas, e atrás dele estavam outros anjos montados, uns em cavalos vermelhos, outros em cavalos baios, e outros em cavalos brancos.
9 I asked him, »Sir, what do these horses mean?« He answered: »I will show you what they mean.«
9 Perguntei ao anjo que falava comigo: — Meu senhor, quem são esses anjos montados em cavalos? Ele respondeu: — Eu vou lhe dizer.
10 The man answered: »These are they whom Jehovah sent to inspect the earth.«
10 Aí o anjo que estava no meio das moitas disse: — Eles são os anjos que o
11 They spoke to the Messenger Angel of Jehovah who stood among the myrtle-trees: »We have patrolled the earth and the entire world is at rest.«
11 Então aqueles anjos disseram ao anjo que estava no meio das moitas: — Acabamos de andar por toda a terra e vimos que tudo está calmo e em paz.
12 Then the Messenger Angel of Jehovah said: »Jehovah of Hosts, how much longer until you show compassion to Jerusalem and the cities of Judah? You have been angry with them for seventy years.«
12 E o anjo do Senhor disse: — Ó
13 Jehovah replied to the angel that talked with me with gracious and comforting words.
13 O Senhor Deus respondeu com carinho ao anjo que estava falando comigo e disse palavras de consolo.
14 The angel said: »Call out, say, this is what Jehovah of Hosts has said: I am zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with intense ardor.
14 Aí o anjo que falava comigo mandou que eu anunciasse em voz alta o seguinte: — Esta é a mensagem do
15 And I am very angry with the nations that are at ease secure. I was but a little angered and they caused my anger to grow into fury.«
15 E estou muito irado com as nações que vivem sossegadas. Pois, quando eu estava um pouco irado com o meu povo, elas fizeram com que ele sofresse muito.
16 »Therefore,« said Jehovah: »I will return to Jerusalem with compassion. My house will be built in it,« said Jehovah of Hosts, »and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem.«
16 Portanto, cheio de compaixão, voltei para Jerusalém. E eu, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso, prometo que o Templo e a cidade toda serão construídos de novo.”
17 »Pronounce again, Jehovah of hosts: My cities will again overflow with prosperity. Jehovah will comfort Zion and yet choose Jerusalem.«
17 E o anjo me disse também: — Anuncie que o
18 I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and, behold, four horns.
18 Tive outra visão e vi quatro chifres de boi.
19 I questioned the angel: »What are these?« And he answered me, »These are the horns governments that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.«
19 Perguntei ao anjo que falava comigo: — Que querem dizer estes chifres? Ele respondeu: — Eles representam as nações que espalharam pelo mundo inteiro os moradores de Judá, de Israel e de Jerusalém.
20 Then Jehovah showed me four craftsmen.
20 Aí o Senhor Deus me mostrou quatro ferreiros.
21 I asked: »What did these come to do?« He answered: »These are the horns that scattered Judah! No man lifted up his head for these came to terrify them. They will cast down the horns powerauthority of the nations that lifted up their horn powerauthority against the land of Judah to scatter it.«
21 Eu perguntei: — O que é que eles vêm fazer? Ele respondeu: — Os chifres são as nações que espalharam os moradores de Judá de tal maneira, que ninguém tinha coragem de levantar a cabeça. E agora estes ferreiros representam os que estão vindo para assustar e quebrar aqueles chifres, isto é, aquelas nações que conquistaram a terra de Judá e espalharam o seu povo.
