1 »When the tribe of Ephraim spoke, people trembled. The people of Ephraim were important in Israel. Then they became guilty of worshiping Baal, so they must die.
1 Quando Efraim falava, tremia-se; foi exalçado em Israel; mas ele fez-se culpado em Baal e morreu.
2 »They sin more and more. They make idols from silver for themselves. These idols are skillfully made. All of them are the work of craftsmen. People say this about the Israelites: They offer sacrifices and kiss calf-shaped idols.
2 E, agora, multiplicaram pecados e da sua prata fizeram uma imagem de fundição, ídolos segundo o seu entendimento, todos obra de artífices, dos quais dizem: Os homens que sacrificam beijam os bezerros.
3 »That is why they will be like fog in the morning and like morning dew that disappears quickly. They will be like straw blown away from threshing floors. They will be like smoke rising from chimneys.
3 Por isso, serão como a nuvem de manhã e como o orvalho da madrugada, que cedo passa, como o folhelho, que a tempestade lança da eira, e como a fumaça da chaminé.
4 »I AM JEHOVAH YOUR GOD. I brought you out of Egypt. You have known no god besides me. There is no savior except me.
4 Todavia, eu sou o Senhor , teu Deus, desde a terra do Egito; portanto, não reconhecerás outro deus além de mim, porque não há Salvador, senão eu.
5 »I took care of you in the desert, in a dry land.
5 Eu te conheci no deserto, em terra muito seca.
6 »When I fed you, you were full. When you were full, you became arrogant. That is why you forgot me.
6 Depois, eles se fartaram em proporção do seu pasto; estando fartos, ensoberbeceu-se o seu coração; por isso, se esqueceram de mim.
7 »So I will be like a lion. Like a leopard I will wait by the road to ambush you.
7 Serei, pois, para eles como leão; como leopardo, espiarei no caminho.
8 »Like a bear that has lost her cubs, I will attack you. I will rip you open. Like a lion I will devour you. Like a wild animal I will tear you apart.
8 Como urso que tem perdido seus filhos, os encontrarei, lhes romperei as teias do seu coração; e ali os devorarei como leão; as feras do campo os despedaçarão.
9 »You are destroying yourself, Israel. You are against me, your helper.
9 Para tua perda, ó Israel, te rebelaste contra mim, contra o teu ajudador.
10 »Where, now, is your king, the one who is supposed to save you? Where in all your cities are your judges? You said: Give us kings and officials!
10 Onde está, agora, o teu rei, para que te guarde em todas as tuas cidades? E os teus juízes, dos quais disseste: Dá-me rei e príncipes?
11 »I gave you a king when I was angry, and I took him away when I was furious.
11 Dei-te um rei na minha ira e to tirei no meu furor.
12 »Ephraim's wickedness is on record. The record of the people's sins is safely stored away.
12 A iniquidade de Efraim está atada, o seu pecado está armazenado.
13 »They have the opportunity to live again, but they are not smart enough to take it. They are like a baby who is about to be born but will not come out of its mother's womb.
13 Dores de mulher de parto lhe virão; ele é um filho insensato, porque é tempo, e não está no lugar em que deve vir à luz.
14 »I will ransom them from the power of the grave. I will redeem them from death! O death, where are your stings plagues? O grave, where is your destruction devastation? Compassion will be concealed from my eyes. (1 Co 15:54-57)
14 Eu os remirei da violência do inferno e os resgatarei da morte; onde estão, ó morte, as tuas pragas? Onde está, ó inferno, a tua perdição? O arrependimento será escondido de meus olhos.
15 »The people of Ephraim have become important among their relatives. However, Jehovahs scorching wind will come from the east. It will blow out of the desert. Then their springs will run dry, and their wells will dry up. The wind will destroy every precious thing in their storehouses.
15 Ainda que ele dê fruto entre os irmãos, virá o vento leste, vento do Senhor , subindo do deserto, e secar-se-á a sua nascente, e secar-se-á a sua fonte; ele saqueará o tesouro de todos os vasos desejáveis.
16 »The people of Samaria are guilty as charged because they rebelled against their God. They will be killed in war, their children will be smashed to death, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.«
16 Samaria virá a ser deserta, porque se rebelou contra o seu Deus; cairão à espada, seus filhos serão despedaçados, e as suas mulheres grávidas serão abertas pelo meio.
