1 This is what the Lord Jehovah said about MOAB: »Pity the people of Nebo. Their town is destroyed! Kiriathaim is captured, its mighty fortress torn down, and its people put to shame.
1 A respeito de Moabe. Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Ai de Nebo, porque foi destruída! Envergonhada está Quiriataim, já está tomada; a fortaleza está envergonhada e abatida.
2 »The splendor of Moab is gone. The enemy has captured Heshbon and plot to destroy the nation of Moab. The town of Madmen will be silenced. Armies will march against it.
2 A glória de Moabe já não é; em Hesbom tramaram contra ela, dizendo: Vinde, e eliminemo-la para que não seja mais povo; também tu, ó Madmém, serás reduzida a silêncio; a espada te perseguirá.
3 »The people of Horonaim cry out: »Violence! Destruction!«
3 Há gritos de Horonaim: Ruína e grande destruição!
4 Moab has been destroyed! Listen to the children crying.
4 Destruída está Moabe; seus filhinhos fizeram ouvir gritos.
5 Hear the sound of their sobs along the road up to Luhith, the cries of distress on the way down to Horonaim.
5 Pela subida de Luíte, eles seguem com choro contínuo; na descida de Horonaim, se ouvem gritos angustiosos de ruína.
6 »Quick, run for your lives!« They say. »Run like a wild desert donkey!«
6 Fugi, salvai a vossa vida, ainda que venhais a ser como o arbusto solitário no deserto.
7 Moab, you trusted in your strength and your wealth, but now even you will be conquered. Your god Chemosh will go into exile, along with his princes and priests.
7 Pois, por causa da tua confiança nas tuas obras e nos teus tesouros, também tu serás tomada; Quemos sairá para o cativeiro com os seus sacerdotes e os seus príncipes juntamente.
8 Not a town will escape the destruction. Both valley and plain will be ruined. I Jehovah have spoken.
8 Virá o destruidor sobre cada uma das cidades, e nenhuma escapará; perecerá o vale, e se destruirá a campina; porque o Senhor o disse.
9 »Set up a tombstone for Moab. It will soon be destroyed. Its towns will be left in ruins, and no one will live there again.
9 Dai asas a Moabe, porque, voando, sairá; as suas cidades se tornarão em ruínas, e ninguém morará nelas.
10 »Curse those who do not do Jehovahs work with all their heart! Curse those who do not slash and kill!
10 Maldito aquele que fizer a obra do Senhor relaxadamente! Maldito aquele que retém a sua espada do sangue!
11 Jehovah said: »Moab has always lived secure and has never been taken into exile. Moab is like wine left to settle undisturbed and never poured from jar to jar. Its flavor has never been ruined, and it tastes as good as ever.
11 Despreocupado esteve Moabe desde a sua mocidade e tem repousado nas fezes do seu vinho; não foi mudado de vasilha para vasilha, nem foi para o cativeiro; por isso, conservou o seu sabor, e o seu aroma não se alterou.
12 »So now, the time is coming when I will send people to pour Moab out like wine. They will empty its wine jars and break them in pieces.
12 Portanto, eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor , em que lhe enviarei trasfegadores, que o trasfegarão; despejarão as suas vasilhas e despedaçarão os seus jarros.
13 »Then the Moabites will be disillusioned with their god Chemosh. The same as the Israelites were disillusioned with Bethel, their trusted god.
13 Moabe terá vergonha de Quemos, como a casa de Israel se envergonhou de Betel, sua confiança.
14 »Men of Moab, why do you claim to be heroes, brave soldiers tested in war?«
14 Como dizeis: Somos valentes e homens fortes para a guerra?
15 »Moab and its cities are destroyed. Its finest young men have been slaughtered. I am the king, the Lord Jehovah, and I have spoken!
15 Moabe está destruído e subiu das suas cidades, e os seus jovens escolhidos desceram à matança, diz o Rei, cujo nome é Senhor dos Exércitos.
16 »Moab's doom approaches. Its ruin is coming soon.
16 Está prestes a vir a perdição de Moabe, e muito se apressa o seu mal.
17 »Mourn for that nation, you that live nearby, all of you that know its fame. Say: Its powerful rule has been broken. Its glory and might are no more.
17 Condoei-vos dele, todos os que estais ao seu redor e todos os que lhe sabeis o nome; dizei: Como se quebrou a vara forte, o cajado formoso!
18 »You that live in Dibon come down from your place of honor and sit on the ground in the dust. Moab's destroyer is here and has left its forts in ruins.
18 Desce da tua glória e assenta-te em terra sedenta, ó moradora, filha de Dibom; porque o destruidor de Moabe sobe contra ti e desfaz as tuas fortalezas.
19 »You that live in Aroer stand by the road and wait. Ask those who are running away, say, What has happened?
19 Põe-te no caminho e espia, ó moradora de Aroer; pergunta ao que foge e à que escapa: Que sucedeu?
20 »Moab has fallen, they will answer; weep for it because it is disgraced. Announce along the Arnon River that Moab is destroyed!
20 Moabe está envergonhado, porque foi abatido; uivai e gritai; anunciai em Arnom que Moabe está destruído.
21 »Judgment has come on the cities of the plateau: on Holon, Jahzah, Mephaath,
21 Também o julgamento veio sobre a terra da campina, sobre Holom, Jasa e Mefaate,
22 »Dibon, Nebo, Beth Diblathaim,
22 sobre Dibom, Nebo e Bete-Diblataim,
23 »Kiriathaim, Bethgamul, Bethmeon,
23 sobre Quiriataim, Bete-Gamul e Bete-Meom,
24 »Kerioth, and Bozrah. Judgment has come on all the cities of Moab, far and near.
24 sobre Queriote e Bozra, e até sobre todas as cidades da terra de Moabe, quer as de longe, quer as de perto.
25 »Moab's might has been crushed. Its power has been destroyed. I Jehovah have spoken.
25 Está eliminado o poder de Moabe, e quebrado, o seu braço, diz o Senhor .
26 »Jehovah said: Make Moab drunk, because it has rebelled against me. Moab will roll in its own vomit and people will laugh.
26 Embriagai-o, porque contra o Senhor se engrandeceu; Moabe se revolverá no seu vômito e será ele também objeto de escárnio.
27 »Moab, remember how you made fun of the people of Israel? You treated them as though they had been caught with a gang of robbers.
27 Pois Israel não te foi também objeto de escárnio? Mas, acaso, foi achado entre ladrões, para que meneies a cabeça, falando dele?
28 »You people who live in Moab, leave your towns! Go and live on the cliffs! Be like the dove that makes its nest in the sides of a ravine.«
28 Deixai as cidades e habitai no rochedo, ó moradora de Moabe; sede como as pombas que se aninham nos flancos da boca do abismo.
29 »Moab is very proud! I have heard how proud, arrogant, and conceited the people are, how much they think of themselves.«
29 Ouvimos falar da soberba de Moabe, que de fato é extremamente soberba, da sua arrogância, do seu orgulho, da sua sobranceria e da altivez do seu coração.
30 »Jehovah says: I know Moabs great pride, but it is of no use. Moabs bragging gains nothing.
30 Conheço, diz o Senhor , a sua insolência, mas isso nada é; as suas gabarolices nada farão.
31 »I cry with sadness for Moab, yes for everyone in Moab. I moan for the people from the town of Kir-Hareseth.
31 Por isso, uivarei por Moabe, sim, gritarei por todo o Moabe; pelos homens de Quir-Heres lamentarei.
32 »I weep with the people of the town of Jazer. And what of the grapevines of the town of Sibmah? In the past your vines spread all the way to the sea, as far as the sea of Jazer. But the destroyer has taken over your fruit and grapes.
32 Mais que a Jazer, te chorarei a ti, ó vide de Sibma; os teus ramos passaram o mar, chegaram até ao mar de Jazer; mas o destruidor caiu sobre os teus frutos de verão e sobre a tua vindima.
33 « Joy and gladness are taken from the fruitful orchards and fields and from the land of Moab. I have stopped the flow of wine from the wine presses. No one walks on the grapes with shouts of joy. There are shouts, but they are not shouts of joy.
33 Tirou-se, pois, o folguedo e a alegria do campo fértil e da terra de Moabe; pois fiz cessar nos lagares o vinho; já não pisarão uvas com júbilo; o júbilo não será júbilo.
34 »Their crying can be heard from Moabite towns. It can be heard from Heshbon to Elealeh and Jahaz, from Zoar as far away as Horonaim and Eglath Shelishiyah three year old heifer. Even the waters of Nimrim are dried up.
34 Ouve-se o grito de Hesbom até Eleale e Jasa, e de Zoar se dão gritos até Horonaim e Eglate-Selisias; porque até as águas do Ninrim se tornaram em assolação.
35 »I will stop Moab from making burnt offerings at the places of worship. I will stop Moab from burning incense to their gods, says Jehovah.
35 Farei desaparecer de Moabe, diz o Senhor , quem sacrifique nos altos e queime incenso aos seus deuses.
36 »My heart cries sadly for Moab like a flute playing a funeral song. It cries like a flute for the people from Kir Hareseth. The money they made has all been taken away.
36 Por isso, o meu coração geme como flautas por causa de Moabe, e como flautas geme por causa dos homens de Quir-Heres; porquanto já se perdeu a abundância que ajuntou.
37 »They have all shaved their heads and cut off their beards. They have all made gashes on their hands, and everyone is wearing sackcloth.«
37 Porque toda cabeça ficará calva, e toda barba, rapada; sobre todas as mãos haverá incisões, e sobre os lombos, pano de saco.
38 »People are weeping on every roof in Moab and in every public square. There is only sadness, because I have broken Moab like a jar no one wants, say Jehovah.
38 Sobre todos os eirados de Moabe e em todas as suas praças há pranto, porque fiz Moabe em pedaços, como vasilha de barro que não agrada, diz o Senhor . Como está desfalecido!
39 Moab has been shattered! Cry out! Moab has been disgraced. It is in ruins and all the surrounding nations make fun of it. I Jehovah have spoken.
39 Como uivam! Como, de vergonha, virou Moabe as costas! Assim, se tornou Moabe objeto de escárnio e de espanto para todos os que estão em seu redor.
40 »This is what Jehovah says: Look! Someone is coming like an eagle diving down from the sky and spreading its wings over Moab.
40 Porque assim diz o Senhor : Eis que voará como a águia e estenderá as suas asas contra Moabe.
41 »The towns of Moab will be captured. The strong walled cities will be defeated. Then Moabs warriors will be frightened like a woman who is giving birth.«
41 São tomadas as cidades, e ocupadas, as fortalezas; naquele dia, o coração dos valentes de Moabe será como o coração da mulher que está em dores de parto.
42 »The nation of Moab will be destroyed. This is because they thought they were greater than Jehovah.
42 Moabe será destruído, para que não seja povo, porque se engrandeceu contra o Senhor .
43 »Fear, deep pits, and traps wait for you people of Moab, says Jehovah.
43 Terror, cova e laço vêm sobre ti, ó moradora de Moabe, diz o Senhor .
44 »People will run out of fear, but they will fall into the pits. Those who climb out of the pits will be caught in the traps. »I will bring the year of punishment to Moab,« says Jehovah.
44 Quem fugir do terror cairá na cova, e, se sair da cova, o laço o prenderá; porque trarei sobre ele, sobre Moabe, o ano do seu castigo.
45 Helpless people have run to find protection in Heshbon, the city that King Sihon once ruled, but it is in flames. It has burned up leaders of Moab and destroyed those proud people.
45 Os que fogem param sem forças à sombra de Hesbom; porém sai fogo de Hesbom e labareda do meio de Seom e devora as têmporas de Moabe e o alto da cabeça dos filhos do tumulto.
46 »Pity the people of Moab! The people who worshiped Chemosh have been destroyed. Their sons and daughters have been taken away as prisoners.
46 Ai de ti, Moabe! Pereceu o povo de Quemos, porque teus filhos ficaram cativos, e tuas filhas, em cativeiro.
47 »In the future, however, I will make good things happen to Moab. It will be prosperous again, says Jehovah. As of now the judgement of Moab.«
47 Contudo, mudarei a sorte de Moabe, nos últimos dias, diz o Senhor . Até aqui o juízo contra Moabe.
