1 Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, and evidence of things not seen.
1 Ora, a fé é a substância das coisas pelas quais esperamos, a evidência das coisas não vistas.
2 God approved of the men of old because of their faith.
2 Porque por ela os antigos obtiveram um bom testemunho.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the Word of God. The visible has been made out of things that were not visible.
3 Através da fé entendemos que os mundos foram moldados pela palavra de Deus; de modo que as coisas que são vistas não foram feitas das coisas que aparecem.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain. Through this he was commended as righteous. God testified about his gifts. Thus through faith he still speaks even though he is dead.
4 Pela fé Abel ofereceu a Deus um sacrifício mais excelente do que Caim, pelo qual alcançou testemunho de que ele era justo, testificando Deus sobre os seus dons, e através disso, depois de morto, ainda fala.
5 By faith Enoch was moved transferredremoved so that he would not see death. He was not found, because God had moved him away. Before he was moved away he saw that he had pleased God well. (Genesis 5:24)
5 Pela fé Enoque foi trasladado para não ver a morte, e não foi achado, porque Deus o trasladara; porque antes de sua trasladação ele tinha testemunho de que agradara a Deus.
6 Without faith it is impossible to please God. He who comes to God must believe that he is and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
6 Porém, sem fé é impossível agradar-lhe; porque é necessário que aquele que se aproxima de Deus acredite que ele existe, e que é galardoador daqueles que diligentemente o buscam.
7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not seen as yet, moved with godly respect. He prepared an ark to save his house. By his faith he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that is according to faith.
7 Pela fé Noé, tendo sido avisado por Deus a respeito das coisas que ainda não se viam, comoveu-se com temor, preparou uma arca para salvação da sua casa, pela qual condenou o mundo, e tornou-se herdeiro da justiça, que é segundo a fé.
8 By faith, when Abraham was called, he obeyed. He went to a place that he was to receive for an inheritance. He went even though he did not know where he was going.
8 Pela fé Abraão, quando foi chamado a ir para um lugar que havia de receber posteriormente por herança, obedeceu e saiu, sem saber para onde ia.
9 By faith he became an alien in the Promised Land. It was not his land. He lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob. They were heirs with him of the same promise.
9 Pela fé peregrinou na terra da promessa, como em uma terra estranha, habitando em tabernáculos com Isaque e Jacó, os herdeiros com ele da mesma promessa.
10 He looked for the city having real foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
10 Porque procurava por uma cidade que tem fundamentos, da qual o artífice e construtor é Deus.
11 By faith Sarah received strength to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who promised.
11 Pela fé também a própria Sara recebeu vigor para conceber descendência, e deu à luz uma criança quando já de idade avançada; porquanto teve por fiel aquele que havia prometido.
12 This was to come from one man and him as good as dead. There were born children, as many as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as uncountable as the sand by the seashore.
12 Por isso também de um, e esse já considerado como quase morto, descenderam tantos como as estrelas do céu em multidão, e como a areia inumerável da praia.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar. They confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
13 Todos estes morreram na fé, sem terem recebido as promessas; mas vendo-as de longe, foram persuadidos a respeito delas, e abraçaram-nas, e confessaram que eram estrangeiros e peregrinos na terra.
14 Those who say such things declare that they are seeking a country of their own.
14 Porque aqueles que dizem tais coisas declaram abertamente que procuram por um país.
15 If indeed they had been thinking of that country from which they came, they would have had opportunity to return.
15 E verdadeiramente, se lembrassem daquele país de onde haviam saído, teriam tido a oportunidade de retornar.
16 They desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Because of this, God is not ashamed to be called their God. He has prepared a city for them!
16 Mas agora eles desejam um país melhor, isto é, um celestial. Por isso também Deus não se envergonha de se chamar seu Deus, porque já lhes preparou uma cidade.
17 By faith Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. He that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only-begotten son!
17 Pela fé Abraão, quando foi provado, ofereceu a Isaque, e aquele que recebera as promessas ofereceu o seu unigênito.
18 It was said: »In Isaac your descendants will be called.«
18 Dele foi dito: Em Isaque será chamada a tua descendência.
19 Abraham reasoned that God is able to raise him from the dead. So he figured he would receive him back.
19 Considerando que Deus sendo poderoso para levantá-lo até mesmo dentre os mortos; e então também figuradamente ele o recebeu.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come.
20 Pela fé Isaque abençoou Jacó e Esaú, concernente às coisas futuras.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph. He worshipped while leaning upon the top of his staff.
21 Pela fé Jacó, quando estava próximo da morte, abençoou ambos os filhos de José, e adorou, reclinando-se sobre o seu cajado.
22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near, mentioned the departure of the children of Israel. Then he gave orders concerning his bones.
22 Pela fé José, ao morrer, fez menção da saída dos filhos de Israel, e deu ordem acerca de seus ossos.
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents. They saw he was a beautiful child and they were not afraid of the kings edict.
23 Pela fé Moisés, quando nasceu, foi escondido três meses por seus pais, porque viram que era um menino formoso; e não temeram o mandamento do rei.
24 By faith Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaohs daughter.
24 Pela fé Moisés, sendo já crescido, recusou ser chamado filho da filha de Faraó,
25 He chose to share the bad treatment with the people of God, rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.
25 escolhendo antes ser afligido com o povo de Deus, do que por um período desfrutar do gozo do pecado.
26 He considered the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. He looked intently respectfully for the payment of the reward.
26 Considerando a desonra de Cristo como riqueza maior do que os tesouros do Egito; porque tinha em vista a recompensa do galardão.
27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the anger of the king. He endured, by seeing him who is invisible.
27 Pela fé deixou o Egito, não temendo a ira do rei; porque perseverou como que vendo aquele que está invisível.
28 By faith he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.
28 Pela fé ele celebrou a páscoa e a aspersão do sangue, a fim de que o destruidor dos primogênitos não lhes tocasse.
29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as though they were on dry land. The Egyptians tried and were drowned.
29 Pela fé passaram o mar Vermelho como por terra seca; e os egípcios que o mesmo fizeram, afogaram-se.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been encircled for seven days.
30 Pela fé, os muros de Jericó caíram, após serem rodeados durante sete dias.
31 By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish with the disobedient, after she welcomed the spies in peace.
31 Pela fé a prostituta Raabe não pereceu com os incrédulos, porque havia acolhido em paz os espias.
32 What more shall I say? For the time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,
32 E que mais direi? Porque não haveria tempo para falar de Gideão, e de Baraque, e de Sansão, e de Jefté, e de Davi, e de Samuel e dos profetas:
33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, affected righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
33 Os quais pela fé subjugaram reinos, praticaram a justiça, obtiveram promessas, fecharam as bocas dos leões,
34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, and turned to flight foreign armies.
34 apagaram a violência do fogo, escaparam do fio da espada, foram feitos fortes na fraqueza, foram valentes em batalha, puseram em fuga os exércitos dos estranhos.
35 Women received their dead by a resurrection, and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection:
35 As mulheres receberam os seus mortos trazidos novamente à vida; e outros foram torturados, não aceitando o seu livramento, para que pudessem alcançar uma melhor ressurreição.
36 And others had trial of cruel mocking and scourging and bonds and imprisonment.
36 E outros foram testados com escárnios e açoites cruéis, de fato, e além de cadeias e prisões.
37 They were stoned, they were sawed in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword; they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented.
37 Eles foram apedrejados, serrados ao meio, tentados, mortos ao fio da espada; vaguearam sem destino vestidos em peles de ovelhas e de cabras, sendo destituídos, afligidos e atormentados,
38 The world was not worthy of them! They wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
38 (dos quais o mundo não era digno), eles peregrinaram errantes pelos desertos, e montes, e pelas covas e cavernas da terra.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, did not receive the promise.
39 E todos estes, tendo obtido um bom testemunho através da fé, não receberam a promessa,
40 God provided something better for us that they might not be made perfect without us.
40 tendo Deus preparado alguma coisa melhor para nós, para que eles sem nós não fossem ser aperfeiçoados.
