1 Jehovah said to me: »Son of man, eat what you find. Eat this scroll. Then speak to the people of Israel.«
1 Depois me disse: Filho do homem, come o que achares; come este rolo, e vai, fala à casa de Israel.
2 I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat.
2 Então abri a minha boca, e me deu a comer o rolo.
3 He said: »Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you, and fill your stomach with it.« So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.
3 E disse-me: Filho do homem, dá de comer ao teu ventre, e enche as tuas entranhas deste rolo que eu te dou. Então o comi, e era na minha boca doce como o mel.
4 He then said to me: »Son of man, go to the people of Israel and speak my words to them.
4 E disse-me ainda: Filho do homem, vai, entra na casa de Israel, e dize-lhe as minhas palavras.
5 »I am not sending you to people whose language is hard to understand or difficult to speak. I am sending you to Israel.
5 Porque tu não és enviado a um povo de estranha fala, nem de língua difícil, mas à casa de Israel;
6 »I am not sending you to nations whose language is hard to understand, difficult to speak, or whose words you cannot understand. If I send you to those nations they will certainly listen to you.
6 Nem a muitos povos de estranha fala, e de língua difícil, cujas palavras não possas entender; se eu aos tais te enviara, certamente te dariam ouvidos.
7 »But the people of Israel will refuse to listen to you because they refuse to listen to me. All the people of Israel are very stubborn and hardheaded.
7 Mas a casa de Israel não te quererá dar ouvidos, porque não me querem dar ouvidos a mim; pois toda a casa de Israel é de fronte obstinada e dura de coração.
8 »Yet, I will make you as stubborn and as hardheaded as they are.
8 Eis que fiz duro o teu rosto contra os seus rostos, e forte a tua fronte contra a sua fronte.
9 »I will make you as hard as a diamond, harder than flint stone. Do not be afraid of them. Do not be terrified in their presence, even though they are rebellious people.«
9 Fiz como diamante a tua fronte, mais forte do que a pederneira; não os temas, pois, nem te assombres com os seus rostos, porque são casa rebelde.
10 He also said: »Son of man, take to heart everything I have spoken to you, and listen closely.
10 Disse-me mais: Filho do homem, recebe no teu coração todas as minhas palavras que te hei de dizer, e ouve-as com os teus ouvidos.
11 »Go to the exiles, to your people. Whether they listen or not, tell them: This is what the Lord Jehovah says.«
11 Eia, pois, vai aos do cativeiro, aos filhos do teu povo, e lhes falarás e lhes dirás: Assim diz o Senhor DEUS, quer ouçam quer deixem de ouvir.
12 Then the Spirit lifted me, and behind me I heard a loud thundering voice say: »Blessed is Jehovahs glory from this place.«
12 E levantou-me o Espírito, e ouvi por detrás de mim uma voz de grande estrondo, que dizia: Bendita seja a glória do SENHOR, desde o seu lugar.
13 I also heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures touching one another and the noise of the wheels beside them as well as a loud rumbling.
13 E ouvi o ruído das asas dos seres viventes, que tocavam umas nas outras, e o ruído das rodas defronte deles, e o sonido de um grande estrondo.
14 The Spirit lifted me and took me away. I went away feeling bitter and angry. The strong power of Jehovah came over me.
14 Então o espírito me levantou, e me levou; e eu me fui amargurado, na indignação do meu Espírito; porém a mão do SENHOR era forte sobre mim.
15 I went to Tel Abib, to the exiles that lived by the Chebar River. I sat there among them for seven days. I was stunned among them.
15 E fui a Tel-Abibe, aos do cativeiro, que moravam junto ao rio Quebar, e eu morava onde eles moravam; e fiquei ali sete dias, pasmado no meio deles.
16 After seven days Jehovah spoke his word to me:
16 E sucedeu que, ao fim de sete dias, veio a palavra do Senhor a mim, dizendo:
17 »Son of man, I have made you a watchman over the people of Israel. Listen to what I say, and warn them for me.
17 Filho do homem: Eu te dei por atalaia sobre a casa de Israel; e tu da minha boca ouvirás a palavra e avisá-los-ás da minha parte.
18 »When I tell a wicked man that he will surely die, but you do not warn him or speak out so that he can change his wicked way in order to save his life; that wicked man will die because of his sin. I will hold you responsible for his death.
18 Quando eu disser ao ímpio: Certamente morrerás; e tu não o avisares, nem falares para avisar o ímpio acerca do seu mau caminho, para salvar a sua vida, aquele ímpio morrerá na sua iniqüidade, mas o seu sangue, da tua mão o requererei.
19 »When you warn the wicked man, and he does not turn from his wicked way; he will die because of his sin, but you will save yourself.
19 Mas, se avisares ao ímpio, e ele não se converter da sua impiedade e do seu mau caminho, ele morrerá na sua iniqüidade, mas tu livraste a tua alma.
20 »If righteous people turn from living the right way and do wrong, I will make them stumble and they will die. If you do not warn them, they will die because of their sin. The right things they did will not be remembered. I will hold you responsible for their deaths.
20 Semelhantemente, quando o justo se desviar da sua justiça, e cometer a iniqüidade, e eu puser diante dele um tropeço, ele morrerá: porque tu não o avisaste, no seu pecado morrerá; e suas justiças, que tiver praticado, não serão lembradas, mas o seu sangue, da tua mão o requererei.
21 »If you warn righteous people not to sin, and they do not sin, they will certainly live because they listened to the warning and you will save yourself.«
21 Mas, avisando tu o justo, para que não peque, e ele não pecar, certamente viverá; porque foi avisado; e tu livraste a tua alma.
22 The power of Jehovah came over me. He said: »Get up, and go to the plain. I will speak to you there.«
22 E a mão do Senhor estava sobre mim ali, e ele me disse: Levanta-te, e sai ao vale, e ali falarei contigo.
23 I got up and went to the plain. Jehovahs glory was standing there like the glory I saw by the Chebar River. So I immediately bowed down.
23 E levantei-me, e saí ao vale, e eis que a glória do Senhor estava ali, como a glória que vi junto ao rio Quebar; e caí sobre o meu rosto.
24 The Spirit entered me and stood me on my feet. He talked to me. He said: »Go shut yourself in your home.
24 Então entrou em mim o Espírito, e me pôs em pé, e falou comigo, e me disse: Entra, encerra-te dentro da tua casa.
25 »People will tie you up with ropes, son of man, so that you cannot go outside.
25 E quanto a ti, ó filho do homem, eis que porão cordas sobre ti, e te ligarão com elas; não sairás, pois, ao meio deles.
26 »I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you cannot talk or criticize them, even though they are rebellious people.
26 E eu farei que a tua língua se pegue ao teu paladar, e ficarás mudo, e não lhes servirás de repreendedor; porque eles são casa rebelde.
27 »But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth. You will tell them: This is what the Lord Jehovah says. Some will listen and some will refuse to listen for they are a rebellious people.
27 Mas, quando eu falar contigo, abrirei a tua boca, e lhes dirás: Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Quem ouvir ouça, e quem deixar de ouvir, deixe; porque eles são casa rebelde.
