1 The word of Jehovah continued to come to me:

2 »Son of man, set your face commit yourself against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it.
2 filho do homem, volta-te para o lado da montanha de Seir, e profetiza contra ela;
3 »Say this, ‘the Lord Jehovah says: »I am against you, Mount Seir! I will stretch out my hand exert my power against you and make you a desolation and a waste.
3 Dize-lhe: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: é contra ti que venho, monte de Seir; eu vou levantar a mão contra ti. Farei de ti um deserto e uma solidão;
4 »‘»I will lay waste your cities and you will become desolated. Then you will know that I am Jehovah.
4 reduzirei as tuas cidades a ruínas, a fim de que saibas que sou eu o Senhor.
5 »‘»Because you have had everlasting enmity and have delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword to die by warfare at the time of their calamity, at the time of the punishment of the end.« ’
5 Já que tens nutrido ódio eterno pelos israelitas, e os entregaste ao fio da espada no dia de sua aflição, e ao termo da sua iniqüidade,
6 »‘Therefore as I live, declares the Lord Jehovah: I will give you over to bloodshed death, and bloodshed death will pursue you. Since you have not hated bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you.
6 pois bem: por minha vida - oráculo do Senhor Javé -, eu te entregarei ao sangue, e o sangue há de perseguir-te; porquanto não te horrorizes em derramar sangue, o sangue há de perseguir-te.
7 »‘I will make Mount Seir a waste and desolation. I will cut off from it the one who passes through and returns.
7 Farei da montanha de Seir um deserto e uma solidão, e suprimirei da terra todos os transeuntes.
8 »‘I will fill its mountains with those who have been killed. Those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and ravines.
8 Cobrirei tuas montanhas de cadáveres: sobre teus outeiros, teus vales e tuas torrentes tombarão aqueles a quem corta o gládio.
9 »‘I will make you an everlasting desolation! Your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am Jehovah!’
9 Reduzir-te-ei a solidões eternas; tuas cidades serão despovoadas. Assim saberás tu que eu é que sou o Senhor.
10 »For the reason that you have said: ‘These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,’ although Jehovah was there.
10 Já que disseste: as duas nações, os dois países serão meus, e tomarei posse deles, ainda que o Senhor aí resida,
11 ‘Therefore as I live,’ declares the Lord Jehovah, ‘I will deal with you according to your anger and according to your envy, what you showed because of your hatred against them. I will make myself known among them when I judge you.
11 pois bem: por minha vida - oráculo do Senhor Javé -, eu te tratarei com a mesma furiosa cólera com que os trataste, e far-me-ei conhecer no modo por que hei de exercer o meu julgamento contra ti.
12 »‘Then you will know that I, Jehovah, have heard all your insults you have spoken against the mountains of Israel. You said: ‘They are laid desolate. They are given to us for food.’
12 Saberás que eu, o Senhor, ouvi todas as blasfêmias que proferiste contra as montanhas de Israel, quando dizias: ei-las devastadas! Elas nos são dadas como pasto.
13 »‘You have spoken arrogantly against me and have continuously spoken against me. And I have heard it!’
13 Haveis-me afrontado com uma multidão de palavras insolentes contra mim. Eu as ouvi.
14 »The Lord Jehovah says: ‘As all the earth rejoices, I will make you desolated.
14 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé:
15 »As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be desolated, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am Jehovah.’«
15 enquanto toda a terra estiver em alegria, farei de ti uma solidão. Porque te tens alegrado com a devastação da herança da casa de Israel, eu te tratarei do mesmo modo: serás devastada, montanha de Seir, assim como toda a Iduméia. Assim reconhecerás que sou eu o Senhor.
