1 Then Jehovah said to Moses: »Approach Pharaoh and say to him, Jehovah says: »Let My people go, that they may serve me.
1 Depois, disse o Senhor a Moisés: Chega-te a Faraó e dize-lhe: Assim diz o Senhor : Deixa ir o meu povo, para que me sirva.
2 »»But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will afflict your whole territory with frogs.
2 Se recusares deixá-lo ir, eis que castigarei com rãs todos os teus territórios.
3 »»The Nile will swarm with frogs. They will come up and go into your house and into your bedroom and on your bed. They will go into the houses of your servants and on your people, and into your ovens and into your kneading bowls.
3 O rio produzirá rãs em abundância, que subirão e entrarão em tua casa, e no teu quarto de dormir, e sobre o teu leito, e nas casas dos teus oficiais, e sobre o teu povo, e nos teus fornos, e nas tuas amassadeiras.
4 »»The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your servants.« «
4 As rãs virão sobre ti, sobre o teu povo e sobre todos os teus oficiais.
5 Jehovah also said to Moses: »Say to Aaron, Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the streams and over the pools. Make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.«
5 Disse mais o Senhor a Moisés: Dize a Arão: Estende a mão com o teu bordão sobre os rios, sobre os canais e sobre as lagoas e faze subir rãs sobre a terra do Egito.
6 »So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt. The frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.
6 Arão estendeu a mão sobre as águas do Egito, e subiram rãs e cobriram a terra do Egito.
7 »But the magicians used their secret powers to do the same thing.
7 Então, os magos fizeram o mesmo com suas ciências ocultas e fizeram aparecer rãs sobre a terra do Egito.
8 »The king sent for Moses and Aaron and told them: If you ask Jehovah to take these frogs away from me and my people, I will let your people go and offer sacrifices to him.«
8 Chamou Faraó a Moisés e a Arão e lhes disse: Rogai ao Senhor que tire as rãs de mim e do meu povo; então, deixarei ir o povo, para que ofereça sacrifícios ao Senhor .
9 Moses answered: »You choose the time when I am to pray for the frogs to stop bothering you, your officials, and your people, and for them to leave your houses and be found only in the river.«
9 Falou Moisés a Faraó: Digna-te dizer-me quando é que hei de rogar por ti, pelos teus oficiais e pelo teu povo, para que as rãs sejam retiradas de ti e das tuas casas e fiquem somente no rio.
10 The king replied: »Do it tomorrow!« »As you wish:« Moses agreed. »Then everyone will discover that there is no god like Jehovah!
10 Ele respondeu: Amanhã. Moisés disse: Seja conforme a tua palavra, para que saibas que ninguém há como o Senhor , nosso Deus.
11 »The frogs will no longer be found anywhere, except in the Nile.«
11 Retirar-se-ão as rãs de ti, e das tuas casas, e dos teus oficiais, e do teu povo; ficarão somente no rio.
12 Moses and Aaron left the palace. Moses begged Jehovah to do something about the frogs he had sent as punishment for the king.
12 Então, saíram Moisés e Arão da presença de Faraó; e Moisés clamou ao Senhor por causa das rãs, conforme combinara com Faraó.
13 Jehovah did as Moses asked. The frogs in the houses, the courtyards, and the fields died.
13 E o Senhor fez conforme a palavra de Moisés; morreram as rãs nas casas, nos pátios e nos campos.
14 The Egyptians piled them up in large mounds, until the land began to stink with them.
14 Ajuntaram-nas em montões e montões, e a terra cheirou mal.
15 The king saw that the frogs were dead. He became stubborn again and, just as Jehovah had said, the king would not listen to Moses and Aaron.
15 Vendo, porém, Faraó que havia alívio, continuou de coração endurecido e não os ouviu, como o Senhor tinha dito.
16 Jehovah said to Moses: »Tell Aaron, »Strike the ground with your stick. The dust will change into gnats in all of Egypt.«
16 Disse o Senhor a Moisés: Dize a Arão: Estende o teu bordão e fere o pó da terra, para que se torne em piolhos por toda a terra do Egito.
17 So Aaron struck the ground with his stick. The dust in Egypt was turned into gnats. They swarmed over the people and the animals.
17 Fizeram assim; Arão estendeu a mão com seu bordão e feriu o pó da terra, e houve muitos piolhos nos homens e no gado; todo o pó da terra se tornou em piolhos por toda a terra do Egito.
18 The magicians tried to use their magic to make gnats appear, but they failed. There were gnats everywhere!
18 E fizeram os magos o mesmo com suas ciências ocultas para produzirem piolhos, porém não o puderam; e havia piolhos nos homens e no gado.
19 The magicians said to the king: »It is the finger of God!« God has done this! But the king was stubborn. Just as Jehovah predicted, the king would not listen to Moses and Aaron.
19 Então, disseram os magos a Faraó: Isto é o dedo de Deus. Porém o coração de Faraó se endureceu, e não os ouviu, como o Senhor tinha dito.
20 Jehovah said to Moses: »Early tomorrow morning, go and meet the king as he goes to the river. Tell him that Jehovah says: Let my people go, so that they can serve me.
20 Disse o Senhor a Moisés: Levanta-te pela manhã cedo e apresenta-te a Faraó; eis que ele sairá às águas; e dize-lhe: Assim diz o Senhor : Deixa ir o meu povo, para que me sirva.
21 »»I warn you that if you refuse, I will punish you by sending flies on you, your officials, and your people. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies. The ground will be covered with them.
21 Do contrário, se tu não deixares ir o meu povo, eis que eu enviarei enxames de moscas sobre ti, e sobre os teus oficiais, e sobre o teu povo, e nas tuas casas; e as casas dos egípcios se encherão destes enxames, e também a terra em que eles estiverem.
22 »»At that same time I will cut off the land of Goshen where my people live. No swarms of flies shall be there. / Then you will know that I am Jehovah in the midst of the earth.
22 Naquele dia, separarei a terra de Gósen, em que habita o meu povo, para que nela não haja enxames de moscas, e saibas que eu sou o Senhor no meio desta terra.
23 »»I will put a dividing line between my people and your people. This sign will happen tomorrow.« «
23 Farei distinção entre o meu povo e o teu povo; amanhã se dará este sinal.
24 Jehovah did what he said. Dense swarms of flies came into Pharaohs palace and into the houses of his officials. All over Egypt the flies ruined everything.
24 Assim fez o Senhor ; e vieram grandes enxames de moscas à casa de Faraó, e às casas dos seus oficiais, e sobre toda a terra do Egito; e a terra ficou arruinada com estes enxames.
25 Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron. He said: »Go, sacrifice to your God here in this country.«
25 Chamou Faraó a Moisés e a Arão e disse: Ide, oferecei sacrifícios ao vosso Deus nesta terra.
26 Moses replied: »It is not right to do that. The sacrifices we offer to Jehovah our God are disgusting to Egyptians. If they see us offer sacrifices that they consider disgusting, will they not stone us to death?
26 Respondeu Moisés: Não convém que façamos assim porque ofereceríamos ao Senhor , nosso Deus, sacrifícios abomináveis aos egípcios; eis que, se oferecermos tais sacrifícios perante os seus olhos, não nos apedrejarão eles?
27 »We need to travel three days into the desert to offer sacrifices to Jehovah our God, as he told us to do.«
27 Temos de ir caminho de três dias ao deserto e ofereceremos sacrifícios ao Senhor , nosso Deus, como ele nos disser.
28 Pharaoh said: »I will let you go, but do not go far. You may offer sacrifices to Jehovah your God in the desert and pray for me.«
28 Então, disse Faraó: Deixar-vos-ei ir, para que ofereçais sacrifícios ao Senhor , vosso Deus, no deserto; somente que, saindo, não vades muito longe; orai também por mim.
29 Moses answered: »As soon as I leave you, I will pray to Jehovah. Tomorrow the swarms of flies will go away from you, your officials, and your people. But you must stop tricking us by not letting the people go to offer sacrifices to Jehovah.«
29 Respondeu-lhe Moisés: Eis que saio da tua presença e orarei ao Senhor ; amanhã, estes enxames de moscas se retirarão de Faraó, dos seus oficiais e do seu povo; somente que Faraó não mais me engane, não deixando ir o povo para que ofereça sacrifícios ao Senhor .
30 Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to Jehovah.
30 Então, saiu Moisés da presença de Faraó e orou ao Senhor .
31 Jehovah did what Moses asked. The swarms of flies left Pharaoh, his officials, and his people. Not a single fly was left.
31 E fez o Senhor conforme a palavra de Moisés, e os enxames de moscas se retiraram de Faraó, dos seus oficiais e do seu povo; não ficou uma só mosca.
32 Again Pharaoh was stubborn and did not let the people go.
32 Mas ainda esta vez endureceu Faraó o coração e não deixou ir o povo.
