1 Elisha told the woman who lived in Shunem, whose son he brought back to life: »Jehovah is sending a famine on the land. It will last for seven years. Leave with your family and go live somewhere else.«
1 E falou Eliseu àquela mulher cujo filho ele ressuscitara, dizendo: Levanta-te e vai, tu e a tua família, e peregrina onde puderes peregrinar; porque o SENHOR chamou a fome, a qual também virá à terra por sete anos.
2 She followed his instructions and left with her family to live in Philistia for the seven years.
2 E levantou-se a mulher, e fez conforme a palavra do homem de Deus; porque foi ela com a sua família, e peregrinou na terra dos filisteus sete anos.
3 When the seven years ended she returned to Israel. She went to the king to ask that her house and her land be restored to her.
3 E sucedeu que, ao fim dos sete anos, a mulher voltou da terra dos filisteus, e saiu a clamar ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras.
4 The king was talking with Gehazi, Elisha's servant, when she found him. The king wanted to know about Elisha's miracles.
4 Ora o rei falava a Geazi, servo do homem de Deus, dizendo: Conta-me, peço-te, todas as grandes obras que Eliseu tem feito.
5 Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had brought a dead person back to life. The woman made her appeal to the king. Gehazi said to him: »Your Majesty, here is the woman and here is her son whom Elisha brought back to life!«
5 E sucedeu que, contando ele ao rei como ressuscitara a um morto, eis que a mulher cujo filho ressuscitara clamou ao rei pela sua casa e pelas suas terras. Então disse Geazi: Ó rei meu senhor, esta é a mulher, e este o seu filho a quem Eliseu ressuscitou.
6 She responded to the kings question by confirming Gehazis story. The king called an official and told him to give back to her everything that was hers. This included the value of all the crops that her fields produced during the seven years she was away.
6 E o rei perguntou à mulher, e ela lho contou. Então o rei lhe deu um oficial, dizendo: Faze-lhe restituir tudo quanto era seu, e todas as rendas das terras desde o dia em que deixou a terra até agora.
7 Elisha went to Damascus when King Benhadad of Syria was sick. The king was told that Elisha was there.
7 Depois veio Eliseu a Damasco, estando Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, doente; e lho anunciaram, dizendo: O homem de Deus é chegado aqui.
8 He said to Hazael, one of his officials: »Take a gift to the prophet and ask him to consult Jehovah to find out whether or not I am going to get well.«
8 Então o rei disse a Hazael: Toma um presente na tua mão, e vai a encontrar-te com o homem de Deus; e pergunta por ele ao Senhor, dizendo: Hei de sarar desta doença?
9 Hazael loaded forty camels with all kinds of the finest products of Damascus and went to Elisha. Hazael said: »Your servant, King Benhadad sent me to ask if he will recover from his sickness.«
9 Foi, pois, Hazael a encontrar-se com ele, e tomou um presente na sua mão, a saber: de tudo o que de bom havia em Damasco, quarenta camelos carregados; e veio, e se pôs diante dele e disse: Teu filho Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, me enviou a ti, a dizer: Sararei eu desta doença?
10 Elisha answered: »Jehovah has revealed to me that he will die. However go to him and tell him that he will recover.«
10 E Eliseu lhe disse: Vai, e dize-lhe: Certamente viverás. Porém, o Senhor me tem mostrado que certamente morrerá.
11 Elisha stared at him in horror until Hazael became ill at ease. Suddenly Elisha burst into tears.
11 E afirmou a sua vista, e fitou os olhos nele até se envergonhar; e o homem de Deus chorou.
12 »Why are you crying?« Hazael asked. »Because I know the horrible things you will do against the people of Israel,« Elisha answered. »You will burn their fortresses, slaughter their finest young men, batter their children to death, and rip open their pregnant women.«
12 Então disse Hazael: Por que chora o meu senhor? E ele disse: Porque sei o mal que hás de fazer aos filhos de Israel; porás fogo às suas fortalezas, e os seus jovens matarás à espada, e os seus meninos despedaçarás, e as suas mulheres grávidas fenderás.
13 »How could I ever be that powerful?« Hazael asked. »I am nobody, only a dog.« Elisha replied: »Jehovah has revealed to me that you will be king of Syria.«
13 E disse Hazael: Pois, que é teu servo, que não é mais do que um cão, para fazer tão grande coisa? E disse Eliseu: O Senhor me tem mostrado que tu hás de ser rei da Síria.
14 Hazael returned to Benhadad, who asked him: »What did Elisha say?« »He told me that you will certainly get well,« Hazael answered.
14 Então partiu de Eliseu, e foi a seu senhor, o qual lhe disse: Que te disse Eliseu? E disse ele: Disse-me que certamente viverás.
15 The following day Hazael took a blanket, soaked it in water, and smothered the king. Hazael succeeded Benhadad as king of Syria.
15 E sucedeu que no outro dia tomou um cobertor e o molhou na água, e o estendeu sobre o seu rosto, e morreu; e Hazael reinou em seu lugar.
16 Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king of Judah. It was the fifth year of the reign of Joram son of Ahab as king of Israel.
16 E no ano quinto de Jorão, filho de Acabe, rei de Israel, reinando ainda Jeosafá em Judá, começou a reinar Jeorão, filho de Jeosafá, rei de Judá.
17 He was thirty-two years old. He ruled in Jerusalem for eight years.
17 Era ele da idade de trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar, e oito anos reinou em Jerusalém.
18 His wife was Ahab's daughter. Like the family of Ahab he followed the evil ways of the kings of Israel. He sinned against Jehovah.
18 E andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, como também fizeram os da casa de Acabe, porque tinha por mulher a filha de Acabe, e fez o que era mal aos olhos do Senhor.
19 Jehovah was not willing to destroy Judah. He promised his servant David that his descendants would always continue to rule.
19 Porém o Senhor não quis destruir a Judá por amor de Davi, seu servo, como lhe tinha falado que lhe daria, para sempre, uma lâmpada, a ele e a seus filhos.
20 Edom revolted against Judah and became an independent kingdom.
20 Nos seus dias se rebelaram os edomitas, contra o mando de Judá, e puseram sobre si um rei.
21 Jehoram and his chariots went to Zair. The Edomite army surrounded them. He and his chariot commanders managed to break out and escape. His soldiers scattered to their homes.
21 Por isso Jeorão passou a Zair, e todos os carros com ele; e ele se levantou de noite, e feriu os edomitas que estavam ao redor dele, e os capitães dos carros; e o povo foi para as suas tendas.
22 Edom has been independent of Judah ever since. The city of Libnah also revolted at that time.
22 Todavia os edomitas ficaram rebeldes, contra o mando de Judá, até ao dia de hoje; então, no mesmo tempo, Libna também se rebelou.
23 Everything Jehoram did is recorded in The History of the Kings of Judah.
23 O mais dos atos de Jeorão, e tudo quanto fez, porventura não está escrito no livro das crônicas de Judá?
24 Jehoram died and was buried in the royal tombs in David's City. His son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.
24 E Jeorão dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado com seus pais na cidade de Davi; e Acazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
25 Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah. This was in the twelfth year of the reign of Joram son of Ahab as king of Israel.
25 No ano doze de Jorão, filho de Acabe, rei de Israel, começou a reinar Acazias, filho de Jeorão, rei de Judá.
26 He was twenty-two years old. He ruled in Jerusalem for one year. His mother was Athaliah, the daughter of King Ahab and granddaughter of King Omri of Israel.
26 Era Acazias de vinte e dois anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou um ano em Jerusalém; e era o nome de sua mãe Atalia, filha de Onri, rei de Israel.
27 Ahaziah was related to King Ahab by marriage. He sinned against Jehovah as Ahab's family did.
27 E andou no caminho da casa de Acabe, e fez o que era mal aos olhos do Senhor, como a casa de Acabe, porque era genro da casa de Acabe.
28 King Ahaziah joined King Joram of Israel in a war against King Hazael of Syria. The armies clashed at Ramoth in Gilead. Joram was wounded in battle.
28 E foi com Jorão, filho de Acabe, a Ramote de Gileade, à peleja contra Hazael, rei da Síria; e os sírios feriram a Jorão.
29 He returned to the city of Jezreel to recover from his wounds. Ahaziah went there to visit him.
29 Então voltou o rei Jorão para se curar, em Jizreel, das feridas que os sírios lhe fizeram em Ramá, quando pelejou contra Hazael, rei da Síria; e desceu Acazias, filho de Jeorão, rei de Judá, para ver a Jorão, filho de Acabe, em Jizreel, porquanto estava doente.
