1 King Solomon summoned all the leaders of the tribes and clans of Israel to come to him in Jerusalem. They were to take Jehovahs Ark of the Covenant from Zion, David's City, to the Temple.
1 Então congregou Salomão os anciãos de Israel, e todos os cabeças das tribos, os chefes dos pais dos filhos de Israel, diante de si em Jerusalém; para fazerem subir a arca da aliança do SENHOR da cidade de Davi, que é Sião.
2 They all assembled during the festival. It was the seventh month, the month of Ethanim.
2 E todos os homens de Israel se congregaram ao rei Salomão, na ocasião da festa, no mês de Etanim, que é o sétimo mês.
3 As soon as all the elders gathered, the priests lifted the Ark
3 E vieram todos os anciãos de Israel; e os sacerdotes alçaram a arca.
4 and carried it to the Temple. The Levites and the priests also moved the Tent of Jehovahs presence and all its equipment to the Temple.
4 E trouxeram a arca do Senhor para cima, e o tabernáculo da congregação, juntamente com todos os objetos sagrados que havia no tabernáculo; assim os trouxeram para cima os sacerdotes e os levitas.
5 King Solomon and all the people of Israel assembled in front of the Ark and sacrificed a large number of sheep and cattle, too many to count.
5 E o rei Salomão, e toda a congregação de Israel que se congregara a ele, estava com ele diante da arca, sacrificando ovelhas e vacas, que não se podiam contar nem numerar pela sua quantidade.
6 Then the priests carried the Ark of the Covenant into the Temple and put it in the Most Holy Place, beneath the cherubim angel.
6 Assim trouxeram os sacerdotes a arca da aliança do Senhor ao seu lugar, ao oráculo da casa, ao lugar santíssimo, até debaixo das asas dos querubins.
7 Their outstretched wings covered the box and the poles it was carried by.
7 Porque os querubins estendiam ambas as asas sobre o lugar da arca; e os querubins cobriam, por cima, a arca e os seus varais.
8 The ends of the poles could be seen by anyone standing directly in front of the Most Holy Place, but from nowhere else.
8 E os varais sobressaíram tanto, que as pontas dos varais se viam desde o santuário diante do oráculo, porém de fora não se viam; e ficaram ali até ao dia de hoje.
9 There was nothing inside the Ark of the Covenant except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed there at Mount Sinai, when Jehovah made a covenant with the people of Israel as they were coming from Egypt.
9 Na arca nada havia, senão só as duas tábuas de pedra, que Moisés ali pusera junto a Horebe, quando o Senhor fez a aliança com os filhos de Israel, saindo eles da terra do Egito.
10 As the priests were leaving the Temple, it was suddenly filled with a cloud.
10 E sucedeu que, saindo os sacerdotes do santuário, uma nuvem encheu a casa do Senhor.
11 It shined with the dazzling light of Jehovahs presence. They could not go back in to perform their duties.
11 E os sacerdotes não podiam permanecer em pé para ministrar, por causa da nuvem, porque a glória do Senhor enchera a casa do Senhor.
12 Solomon prayed: »Jehovah, you have placed the sun in the sky, yet you have chosen to live in clouds and darkness.
12 Então falou Salomão: O Senhor disse que ele habitaria nas trevas.
13 »Now I have built a majestic temple for you, a place for you to live in for a very long time.«
13 Certamente te edifiquei uma casa para morada, assento para a tua eterna habitação.
14 King Solomon turned to face the people standing there. He asked God's blessing on them.
14 Então virou o rei o seu rosto, e abençoou toda a congregação de Israel; e toda a congregação de Israel estava em pé.
15 He said: »Praise Jehovah the God of Israel! He kept the promise he made to my father David, when he told him:
15 E disse: Bendito seja o Senhor Deus de Israel, que falou pela sua boca a Davi, meu pai, e pela sua mão o cumpriu, dizendo:
16 »Since the time I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen any city in all the land of Israel in which a temple should be built where I would be worshiped. But I chose you, David, to rule my people.«
16 Desde o dia em que eu tirei o meu povo Israel do Egito, não escolhi cidade alguma de todas as tribos de Israel, para edificar alguma casa para ali estabelecer o meu nome; porém escolhi a Davi, para que presidisse sobre o meu povo Israel.
17 Solomon continued: »My father David planned to build a temple for the worship of Jehovah the God of Israel,
17 Também Davi, meu pai, propusera em seu coração o edificar casa ao nome do Senhor Deus de Israel.
18 »Jehovah said to him: You were right in wanting to build a temple for me.
18 Porém o Senhor disse a Davi, meu pai: Porquanto propuseste no teu coração o edificar casa ao meu nome, bem fizeste em o propor no teu coração.
19 »However you will never build it. It is your son who will build my temple.«
19 Todavia tu não edificarás esta casa; porém teu filho, que sair de teus lombos, edificará esta casa ao meu nome.
20 »Now Jehovah has kept his promise. I have succeeded my father as king of Israel. And I have built the Temple for the worship of Jehovah the God of Israel.
20 Assim confirmou o Senhor a sua palavra que falou; porque me levantei em lugar de Davi, meu pai, e me assentei no trono de Israel, como tem falado o Senhor; e edifiquei uma casa ao nome do Senhor Deus de Israel.
21 »I also provided a place in the Temple for the Ark of the Covenant containing the stone tablets of the covenant Jehovah made with our ancestors when he brought them out of Egypt.«
21 E constituí ali lugar para a arca em que está a aliança do Senhor, a qual fez com nossos pais, quando os tirou da terra do Egito.
22 In the presence of the people Solomon stood in front of the altar. He raised his arms
22 E pôs-se Salomão diante do altar do Senhor, na presença de toda a congregação de Israel; e estendeu as suas mãos para os céus,
23 and prayed: »Jehovah God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven above or on earth below! You keep your covenant with your people and show them your love when they live in wholehearted obedience to you.
23 E disse: Ó Senhor Deus de Israel, não há Deus como tu, em cima nos céus nem em baixo na terra; que guardas a aliança e a beneficência a teus servos que andam com todo o seu coração diante de ti.
24 »You kept the promise you made to my father David. Every word has been fulfilled.
24 Que guardaste a teu servo Davi, meu pai, o que lhe disseras; porque com a tua boca o disseste, e com a tua mão o cumpriste, como neste dia se vê.
25 »Jehovah, God of Israel, I pray that you will also keep the other promise you made to my father when you told him there would always be one of his descendants ruling as king of Israel, provided they obeyed you as carefully as he did.
25 Agora, pois, ó Senhor Deus de Israel, guarda a teu servo Davi, meu pai, o que lhe falaste, dizendo: Não te faltará sucessor diante de mim, que se assente no trono de Israel; somente que teus filhos guardem o seu caminho, para andarem diante de mim como tu andaste diante de mim.
26 »So now, O God of Israel, let your word come true that you promised to my father David, your servant.
26 Agora também, ó Deus de Israel, cumpra-se a tua palavra que disseste a teu servo Davi, meu pai.
27 »Can you, O God, really live on earth? Not even heaven or the heaven of heavens is large enough to hold you. How can this Temple I have built be large enough?
27 Mas, na verdade, habitaria Deus na terra? Eis que os céus, e até o céu dos céus, não te poderiam conter, quanto menos esta casa que eu tenho edificado.
28 »Jehovah my God, I am your servant. Listen to my prayer. Grant the requests I make to you today.
28 Volve-te, pois, para a oração de teu servo, e para a sua súplica, ó Senhor meu Deus, para ouvires o clamor e a oração que o teu servo hoje faz diante de ti.
29 »Watch over this Temple day and night. For this is the place where you have chosen to be worshiped. Hear me when I face this Temple and pray.
29 Para que os teus olhos noite e dia estejam abertos sobre esta casa, sobre este lugar, do qual disseste: O meu nome estará ali; para ouvires a oração que o teu servo fizer neste lugar.
30 »Hear my prayers and the prayers of your people. In your home in heaven hear us and forgive us.
30 Ouve, pois, a súplica do teu servo, e do teu povo Israel, quando orarem neste lugar; também ouve tu no lugar da tua habitação nos céus; ouve também, e perdoa.
31 »When a person is accused of wronging another and is brought to your altar in this Temple to take an oath that he is innocent,
31 Quando alguém pecar contra o seu próximo, e puserem sobre ele juramento de maldição, fazendo-o jurar, e vier juramento de maldição diante do teu altar nesta casa,
32 »O Jehovah, listen in heaven and judge your servants. Punish the guilty one, as he deserves. Justify the one who is innocent.
32 Ouve tu, então, nos céus e age e julga a teus servos, condenando ao injusto, fazendo recair o seu proceder sobre a sua cabeça, e justificando ao justo, rendendo-lhe segundo a sua justiça.
33 »When your people Israel have sinned against you their enemies defeat them. They can turn to you and come to this Temple, humbly praying to you for forgiveness.
33 Quando o teu povo Israel for ferido diante do inimigo, por ter pecado contra ti, e se converterem a ti, e confessarem o teu nome, e orarem e suplicarem a ti nesta casa,
34 Listen to them in heaven. Forgive the sins of your people and bring them back to the land that you gave to their ancestors.
34 Ouve tu então nos céus, e perdoa o pecado do teu povo Israel, e torna-o a levar à terra que tens dado a seus pais.
35 »When you hold back the rain because your people have sinned against you. And when they repent in this Temple, humbly praying to you,
35 Quando os céus se fechar, e não houver chuva, por terem pecado contra ti, e orarem neste lugar, e confessarem o teu nome, e se converterem dos seus pecados, havendo-os tu afligido,
36 listen to them in heaven. Forgive the sins of the king and of the people of Israel, and teach them to do what is right. Then, O Jehovah, send rain on this land of yours, which you gave to your people as a permanent possession.
36 Ouve tu então nos céus, e perdoa o pecado de teus servos e do teu povo Israel, ensinando-lhes o bom caminho em que andem, e dá chuva na tua terra que deste ao teu povo em herança.
37 »When there is famine in the land or an epidemic or scorching winds or swarms of locusts, or when their enemies attack your people, or when disease or sickness among them destroys the crops,
37 Quando houver fome na terra, quando houver peste, quando houver queima de searas, ferrugem, gafanhotos ou pulgão, quando o seu inimigo o cercar na terra das suas portas, ou houver alguma praga ou doença,
38 listen to their prayers. If any of your people Israel, out of heartfelt sorrow, stretch out their hands in prayer toward this Temple,
38 Toda a oração, toda a súplica, que qualquer homem de todo o teu povo Israel fizer, conhecendo cada um a chaga do seu coração, e estendendo as suas mãos para esta casa,
39 hear their prayer. Listen to them in your home in heaven, help them and forgive them. You alone know the thoughts of the human heart. Deal with each person, as he deserves,
39 Ouve tu então nos céus, assento da tua habitação, e perdoa, e age, e dá a cada um conforme a todos os seus caminhos, e segundo vires o seu coração, porque só tu conheces o coração de todos os filhos dos homens.
40 so that your people may obey you all the time they live in the land you gave to our ancestors.
40 Para que te temam todos os dias que viverem na terra que deste a nossos pais.
41 »When a foreigner who lives in a distant land hears of your fame and of the great things you have done for your people and comes to worship you and to pray at this Temple,
41 E também ouve ao estrangeiro, que não for do teu povo Israel, quando vier de terras remotas, por amor do teu nome
42 »For they will have news of your great name and your strong hand and your out-stretched arm. When he comes to pray in this house:
42 (Porque ouvirão do teu grande nome, e da tua forte mão, e do teu braço estendido), e vier orar voltado para esta casa,
43 »Listen to him and give him his desire. Let all the peoples of the earth know about your name. Let them worship you as your people Israel, and that they may see that this house which I have built is truly named by your name.
43 Ouve tu nos céus, assento da tua habitação, e faze conforme a tudo o que o estrangeiro a ti clamar, a fim de que todos os povos da terra conheçam o teu nome, para te temerem como o teu povo Israel, e para saberem que o teu nome é invocado sobre esta casa que tenho edificado.
44 »When your people go to war against their enemies, they pray to you, O Jehovah, toward the city you have chosen and the temple I built for your name.
44 Quando o teu povo sair à guerra contra o seu inimigo, pelo caminho por que os enviares, e orarem ao Senhor, para o lado desta cidade, que tu elegeste, e desta casa, que edifiquei ao teu nome,
45 »Hear their prayer for mercy in heaven, and do what is right for them.
45 Ouve, então, nos céus a sua oração e a sua súplica, e faze-lhes justiça.
46 »They may sin against you, for everyone sins. You may become angry with them and hand them over to an enemy far or near who takes them to another country as captives.
46 Quando pecarem contra ti (pois não há homem que não peque), e tu te indignares contra eles, e os entregares às mãos do inimigo, de modo que os levem em cativeiro para a terra inimiga, quer longe ou perto esteja,
47 »If they come to their senses and are sorry for what they have done, and plead with you in the land where they are captives, saying: We have sinned. We have done wrong. We have been wicked.
47 E na terra aonde forem levados em cativeiro caírem em si, e se converterem, e na terra do seu cativeiro te suplicarem, dizendo: Pecamos, e perversamente procedemos, e cometemos iniqüidade,
48 »If they change their attitude toward you in the land of their enemies where they are captives, if they pray to you toward the land that you gave their ancestors, and the city you have chosen, and the temple I have built for your name,
48 E se converterem a ti com todo o seu coração e com toda a sua alma, na terra de seus inimigos que os levarem em cativeiro, e orarem a ti para o lado da sua terra que deste a seus pais, para esta cidade que elegeste, e para esta casa que edifiquei ao teu nome;
49 then in heaven, the place where you live, hear their prayer for mercy. Do what is right for them.
49 Ouve então nos céus, assento da tua habitação, a sua oração e a sua súplica, e faze-lhes justiça.
50 »Forgive your people, who have sinned against you. Forgive all their wrongs when they rebelled against you. Cause those who captured them to have mercy on them.
50 E perdoa ao teu povo que houver pecado contra ti, todas as transgressões que houverem cometido contra ti; e dá-lhes misericórdia perante aqueles que os têm cativos, para que deles tenham compaixão.
51 »They are your own people. You brought them out of Egypt from the middle of an iron smelter.
51 Porque são o teu povo e a tua herança que tiraste da terra do Egito, do meio do forno de ferro.
52 »May your eyes always see my plea and your people Israel's plea so that you will listen to them whenever they call on you.
52 Para que teus olhos estejam abertos à súplica do teu servo e à súplica do teu povo Israel, a fim de os ouvires em tudo quanto clamarem a ti.
53 »You Jehovah set them apart from all the people of the world. They are your own as you promised through your servant Moses when you brought our ancestors out of Egypt.«
53 Pois tu para tua herança os elegeste de todos os povos da terra, como tens falado pelo ministério de Moisés, teu servo, quando tiraste a nossos pais do Egito, Senhor DEUS.
54 When Solomon finished praying this prayer for mercy to Jehovah, he stood in front of Jehovahs altar, where he had been kneeling with his hands stretched out toward heaven.
54 Sucedeu, pois, que, acabando Salomão de fazer ao Senhor esta oração e esta súplica, estando de joelhos e com as mãos estendidas para os céus, se levantou de diante do altar do Senhor.
55 Then he stood and in a loud voice blessed the entire assembly of Israel:
55 E pôs-se em pé, e abençoou a toda a congregação de Israel em alta voz, dizendo:
56 "THANKS TO JEHOVAH! He has given his people Israel rest, as he has promised. None of the good promises he made through his servant Moses has failed to come true.
56 Bendito seja o Senhor, que deu repouso ao seu povo Israel, segundo tudo o que disse; nem uma só palavra caiu de todas as suas boas palavras que falou pelo ministério de Moisés, seu servo.
57 »May Jehovah our God be with us as he was with our ancestors. May he not leave us or abandon us.
57 O Senhor nosso Deus seja conosco, como foi com nossos pais; não nos desampare, e não nos deixe.
58 »May he bend our hearts toward him. Then we will follow him and obey his commands, laws, and rules, which he commanded our ancestors to obey.
58 Inclinando a si o nosso coração, para andar em todos os seus caminhos, e para guardar os seus mandamentos, e os seus estatutos, e os seus juízos que ordenou a nossos pais.
59 »May these words I have prayed to Jehovah be near Jehovah our God day and night. Then he will give his people Israel and me justice every day as it is needed.
59 E que estas minhas palavras, com que supliquei perante o Senhor, estejam perto, diante do Senhor nosso Deus, de dia e de noite, para que execute o juízo do seu servo e o juízo do seu povo Israel, a cada qual no seu dia.
60 »In this way all the people of the earth may know that Jehovah is God and there is no other god.
60 Para que todos os povos da terra saibam que o Senhor é Deus, e que não há outro.
61 »Let your hearts be committed to Jehovah our God. Then you will live by his laws and keep his commands as you have today.«
61 E seja o vosso coração inteiro para com o Senhor nosso Deus, para andardes nos seus estatutos, e guardardes os seus mandamentos como hoje.
62 Then the king and all Israel offered sacrifices to Jehovah.
62 E o rei e todo o Israel com ele ofereceram sacrifícios perante a face do Senhor.
63 Solomon sacrificed twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep as fellowship offerings to Jehovah. So the king and all the people of Israel dedicated Jehovahs Temple.
63 E deu Salomão para o sacrifício pacífico que ofereceu ao Senhor, vinte e duas mil vacas e cento e vinte mil ovelhas; assim o rei e todos os filhos de Israel consagraram a casa do Senhor.
64 On that day the king designated the courtyard in front of Jehovahs Temple as a holy place. He sacrificed the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and the fat from the fellowship offerings because the copper altar in front of Jehovah was too small to hold all of them.
64 No mesmo dia santificou o rei o meio do átrio que estava diante da casa do Senhor; porquanto ali preparara os holocaustos e as ofertas com a gordura dos sacrifícios pacíficos; porque o altar de cobre que estava diante da face do Senhor era muito pequeno para nele caberem os holocaustos e as ofertas, e a gordura dos sacrifícios pacíficos.
65 At that time Solomon and all Israel celebrated the festival. A large crowd had come from the territory between the border of Hamath and the River of Egypt to be near Jehovah our God for seven days.
65 No mesmo tempo celebrou Salomão a festa, e todo o Israel com ele, uma grande congregação, desde a entrada de Hamate até ao rio do Egito, perante a face do Senhor nosso Deus; por sete dias, e mais sete dias; catorze dias.
66 On the eighth day he dismissed the people. They blessed the king and went to their tents. They rejoiced with cheerful hearts for all the blessings Jehovah had given his servant David and his people Israel.
66 E no oitavo dia despediu o povo, e eles abençoaram o rei; então se foram às suas tendas, alegres e felizes de coração, por causa de todo o bem que o Senhor fizera a Davi seu servo, e a Israel seu povo.
