1 Pedro 2
New Simplified Bible (NSB) vs VC
1 Put away all badness and all deception, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil talk.
1 Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.
2 Like newborn infants, long for the spiritual milk that is without deception to help you grow to salvation.
2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
3 You have tasted that the Lord is kind.
3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
4 You came to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen and precious with God.
4 — ausente —
5 You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 The scriptures say: »I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, chosen and precious (Isaiah 28:16). He who believes in him will not be disappointed shamed.«
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 This precious value is for those who believe. But for the unbeliever: »The stone that the builders rejected became the cornerstone.«
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 It is a stone that people stumble over, and a large rock that people find offensive. They stumble because they are disobedient to the word. To this end they were appointed.
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for Gods own possession, that you may show the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 In time past you were no people, but now you are the people of God. You had not then received, but now have received mercy compassiondivine kindness.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Beloved, I request that you as aliens and strangers abstain from fleshly lust desires, which causes conflict in you.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Maintain fine behavior among the nations. That way when they speak badly about you, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation inspection.
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lords sake: whether it is to the king,
13 — ausente —
14 or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do good.
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 It is Gods will that you do the right things and that this will silence the ignorance of foolish men.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Be free, and yet do not use your freedom for a covering for evil, but as servants of God.
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Reverence and respect God. Honor the king.
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle master but also to the hard to please.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 For this is to your credit to suffer wrongfully and endure grief because of your conscience toward God.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 What value is there when you sin, and are buffeted for it, you take it patiently? But if, when you do well and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 For this you were called because Christ also suffered for you. He left you an example a copy for imitationa model that you should follow in his steps.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 He committed no sin and deception was not found in him.
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 When he was reviled insulted, he did not revile in return. When he suffered he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously.
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 He bore our sins in his body upon the stake, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed because of his wounds stripes.
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 For you were straying like sheep. But now you have returned to your shepherd and overseer.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
