Eclesiastes 6
New International Version (NIV) vs BKJ
1 I have seen another evil under the sun, and it weighs heavily on mankind:
1 Há um mal que tenho visto debaixo do sol, e é comum entre os homens:
2 God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.
2 Um homem a quem Deus deu riquezas, bens e honra, de modo que nada falta à sua alma de tudo quanto ele deseja, porém Deus não lhe dá poder para daí comer, mas o estranho vem e come; isto é vaidade e má enfermidade.
3 A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.
3 Se o homem gerar cem filhos, e viver muitos anos, de modo que os dias dos seus anos sejam muitos, e se a sua alma não se fartar do bem, e além disso não tiver sepultura, digo que um aborto é melhor do que ele.
4 It comes without meaning, it departs in darkness, and in darkness its name is shrouded.
4 Porque ele veio com vaidade, e parte em trevas, e seu nome será coberto pelas trevas.
5 Though it never saw the sun or knew anything, it has more rest than does that man —
5 Além disso ele não viu o sol, e nem conheceu nada, mais descanso tem este do que aquele.
6 even if he lives a thousand years twice over but fails to enjoy his prosperity. Do not all go to the same place?
6 E ainda que vivesse duas vezes mil anos, ele ainda não viu nada de bom; não vão todos para um mesmo lugar?
7 Everyone's toil is for their mouth, yet their appetite is never satisfied.
7 Todo o trabalho do homem é para a sua boca, e contudo o seu apetite nunca se satisfaz.
8 What advantage have the wise over fools? What do the poor gain by knowing how to conduct themselves before others?
8 Pois, o que tem o sábio a mais do que o tolo? O que tem o pobre que sabe andar perante os vivos?
9 Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
9 Melhor é a vista dos olhos do que o vaguear do desejo; isto também é vaidade e angústia de espírito.
10 Whatever exists has already been named, and what humanity is has been known; no one can contend with someone who is stronger.
10 Aquele que existe já foi nomeado, e sabe-se que é homem, e ele não pode contender com o que é mais forte do que ele.
11 The more the words, the less the meaning, and how does that profit anyone?
11 Visto que há muitas coisas que aumentam a vaidade; o que é melhor para o homem?
12 For who knows what is good for a person in life, during the few and meaningless days they pass through like a shadow? Who can tell them what will happen under the sun after they are gone?
12 Porque, quem saberá o que é bom nesta vida para o homem, por todos os dias da sua vida de vaidade, os quais ele gasta como sombra? Quem poderá dizer ao homem o que será depois dele debaixo do sol?
