2 having witnessed your pure conversation {carried out} in fear;

3 whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;

4 but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible {ornament} of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.

5 For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;

7 {Ye} husbands likewise, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, as with a weaker, {even} the female, vessel, giving {them} honour, as also fellow-heirs of {the} grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.

9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing {others}, because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
10 Kilɛ Kafila wʼa yi yu na:
10 For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11 Wu wu kadugo le kuumɔ ni, wu da kasaaŋaa pyi.
11 And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12 Bani sipyii piimu pʼa tii ge, pee ni Kafɔɔ ɲii wa.
12 because {the} eyes of {the} Lord {are} on {the} righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but {the} face of {the} Lord {is} against them that do evil.
13 Yee bu yiyɛ pɔ kasaaŋaa na na byi ni yi zɔlɔɔ pu bɛɛri ni, jɔgɔ di da kakuunɔ pye yee na wɛ?
13 And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which {is} good?
14 Ali kanhama ɲɛhɛ ba nɔni yi na kasaaŋaa bye funŋɔ ni, duba nagoo yi ɲɛ. Sipyii ya fyagi lemu na ge, yi ganha ba fyagi lee na wɛ! Yi ganha bu yi zɔlɔɔ pu bɛ yaha pu wuregi wɛ!
14 E até sereis felizes, se padecerdes alguma coisa por causa da justiça!
15 Ga yʼa gbɔɔrɔ tɛri Kirisa na yi zɔlɔɔ pu na, wee wu ɲɛ yi Kafɔɔ. Tadaŋa ke ki wa yi zɔlɔɔ pu ni ge, sipyaa sipya wʼa yi yege kee fiin ge, yʼa yaa na ta yʼa gbegele yaha tuun bɛɛri ni di weefɔɔ ɲɔ shɔ. Ga yʼi li pye ni lotaan, ni gbɔɔrɔ ni,
15 Portanto, não temais as suas ameaças e não vos turbeis. Antes santificai em vossos corações Cristo, o Senhor. Estai sempre prontos a responder para vossa defesa a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão de vossa esperança, mas fazei-o com suavidade e respeito.

16 Tende uma consciência reta a fim de que, mesmo naquilo em que dizem mal de vós, sejam confundidos os que desacreditam o vosso santo procedimento em Cristo.
17 Na kanhama ɲa kasaana bye funŋɔ ni, li bu da Kilɛ ɲidaan, lee ya ɲɔ na toro na kanhama ɲa kakuunɔ bye funŋɔ ni tàan.
17 Aliás, é melhor padecer, se Deus assim o quiser, por fazer o bem do que por fazer o mal.

21 Esta água prefigurava o batismo de agora, que vos salva também a vós, não pela purificação das impurezas do corpo, mas pela que consiste em pedir a Deus uma consciência boa, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.
