1 And Saul was well pleased with his slaughter. And at that time there was a great persecution against the congregation in Jerusalem; and they were all dispersed through the regions of Judea, and Samaria, except the Apostles.
1 E Saulo consentia na morte de Estêvão. Naquele dia, teve início uma grande perseguição contra a igreja em Jerusalém. Todos, exceto os apóstolos, foram dispersos pelas regiões da Judeia e da Samaria.
2 And devout men carried away Stephen, and made great lamentation for him.
2 Alguns homens piedosos sepultaram Estêvão e fizeram grande lamentação por ele.
3 But Saul made havoc of the congregation, entering into houses, and dragging men and whom, whom he committed to prison.
3 Saulo, porém, queria destruir a igreja. Indo de casa em casa, arrastava homens e mulheres, lançando-os na prisão.
4 Nevertheless, they who were dispersed, went about declaring the glad tidings of the word.
4 Enquanto isso, os que foram dispersos iam por toda parte pregando a palavra.
5 Then came Philip to the city of Samaria, and announced the Messiah to them.
5 Filipe foi à cidade de Samaria e anunciava Cristo ao povo dali.
6 And the people unanimously attended to the things that were spoken by Philip; as they heard them, and saw the miracles which he performed.
6 As multidões, unânimes, davam atenção às coisas que Filipe dizia, ouvindo-as e vendo os sinais que ele fazia.
7 For, unclean spirits, which had possessed many, crying with a loud voice, came out of them; and many, who were paralytic and lame, were healed.
7 Pois os espíritos imundos, gritando em alta voz, saíam de muitos que estavam possuídos por eles; e muitos paralíticos e coxos foram curados.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
8 E houve grande alegria naquela cidade.
9 But there was a certain man named Simon, who had, before, in that city, used magic, and astonished the nation of Samaria; pretending himself to be some extraordinary person:
9 Havia naquela cidade um homem chamado Simão, que praticava artes mágicas e deixava o povo de Samaria admirado. Dizia ser alguém muito importante,
10 to whom they all paid regard, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
10 e todos lhe davam ouvidos, do menor ao maior, dizendo: — Este homem é o poder de Deus, chamado “o Grande Poder”.
11 And they paid regard to him; because he had, for a long time, astonished them wit his enchantments.
11 Davam atenção a ele porque durante muito tempo os havia impressionado com as suas artes mágicas.
12 But when they gave credit to Philip, declaring the glad tidings concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ: they were immersed, both men and women.
12 Quando, porém, deram crédito a Filipe, que os evangelizava a respeito do Reino de Deus e do nome de Jesus Cristo, iam sendo batizados, tanto homens como mulheres.
13 And Simon himself also believed; and being immersed, he kept near to Philip, beholding with amazement, the great and powerful miracles which were done.
13 O próprio Simão abraçou a fé e, tendo sido batizado, acompanhava Filipe de perto, observando extasiado os sinais e grandes milagres praticados.
14 Now when the Apostles, who were at Jerusalem, heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John;
14 Quando os apóstolos, que estavam em Jerusalém, ouviram que o povo de Samaria tinha recebido a palavra de Deus, enviaram-lhes Pedro e João.
15 who, going down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
15 Chegando ali, oraram por eles para que recebessem o Espírito Santo,
16 (For he was not yet fallen on any of them; only, they were immersed into the name of the Lord Jesus.)
16 pois o Espírito ainda não havia descido sobre nenhum deles. Tinham apenas sido batizados em nome do Senhor Jesus.
17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
17 Então lhes impuseram as mãos, e eles receberam o Espírito Santo.
18 Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given by the imposition of the Apostles' hands, he offered them money,
18 Quando Simão viu que, pelo fato de os apóstolos imporem as mãos, era concedido o Espírito Santo, ofereceu-lhes dinheiro,
19 saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.
19 dizendo: — Deem também a mim este poder, para que a pessoa sobre a qual eu impuser as mãos receba o Espírito Santo.
20 But Peter said to him, Let your money go with you to destruction, since you have thought that the free gift of God might be purchased with money.
20 Mas Pedro respondeu: — Que o seu dinheiro seja destruído junto com você, pois você pensou que com ele poderia adquirir o dom de Deus!
21 You have no part nor lot in this matter; for your heart is not upright in the sight of God.
21 Não existe porção nem parte para você neste ministério, porque o seu coração não é reto diante de Deus.
22 Reform, therefore, from this your wickedness; and beg of God, if, indeed, the thought of your heart may be forgiven you;
22 Portanto, arrependa-se desse mal e ore ao Senhor. Talvez ele o perdoe por esse intento do seu coração.
23 for I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and bond of iniquity.
23 Pois vejo que você está cheio de inveja e preso em sua maldade.
24 And Simon answered, and said, Make your supplications to the Lord on my behalf; that none of these things which you have spoken, may come upon me.
24 Simão disse aos apóstolos: — Peço que vocês orem ao Senhor por mim, para que não me sobrevenha nada do que vocês disseram.
25 Now when they had borne their testimony, and had spoke the word of the Lord, they turned back for Jerusalem; and declared the glad tidings in many villages of the Samaritans.
25 Eles, porém, tendo dado o seu testemunho e pregado a palavra do Senhor, voltaram para Jerusalém e evangelizavam muitas aldeias dos samaritanos.
26 And a messenger of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south, by the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza, which is desert.
26 Um anjo do Senhor disse a Filipe: — Levante-se e vá para o Sul, no caminho que desce de Jerusalém a Gaza; este se acha deserto.
27 And he arose, and took his journey; and, behold, a certain Ethiopian officer, a grandee of Candace, the queen of the Ethiopians, that was over all her treasure, who had come to worship at Jerusalem,
27 Filipe se levantou e foi. Havia um etíope, eunuco, alto oficial de Candace, rainha dos etíopes, o qual era superintendente de todo o seu tesouro. Ele tinha vindo adorar em Jerusalém
28 was returning, and sat in his chariot, reading the Prophet Isaiah.
28 e estava regressando ao seu país. E, assentado na sua carruagem, vinha lendo o profeta Isaías.
29 And the Spirit said to Philip, Approach, and join yourself to this chariot.
29 Então o Espírito disse a Filipe: — Aproxime-se dessa carruagem e acompanhe-a.
30 And Philip, running up, heard him read in the Prophet Isaiah, and said, Do you understand what you are reading?
30 Correndo para lá, Filipe ouviu que o homem estava lendo o profeta Isaías. Então perguntou: — O senhor entende o que está lendo?
31 And he said, How can I, unless some one should guide me? And he requested Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
31 Ele respondeu: — Como poderei entender, se ninguém me explicar? E convidou Filipe a subir e sentar-se ao seu lado.
32 «Now the passage of scripture which he was reading, was this,» 'He was brought to the slaughter, as a sheep; and as a lamb before its shearer, is dumb; so he opened not his mouth.'
32 Ora, a passagem da Escritura que ele estava lendo era esta: “Foi levado como ovelha ao matadouro; e, como um cordeiro mudo diante do seu tosquiador, ele não abriu a boca.
33 «In his humiliation his condemnation was extorted; and who shall describe his generation? for his life is cut off from the earth.»
33 Na sua humilhação, lhe negaram justiça; quem poderá falar da sua descendência? Porque a vida dele é tirada da terra.”
34 The officer answering Philip, said, I beseech you, of whom does the prophet say this? -of himself, or of some other person?
34 Então o eunuco disse a Filipe: — Peço que você me explique a quem se refere o profeta. Fala de si mesmo ou de outra pessoa?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from the scripture, told him the glad tidings concerning Jesus.
35 Então Filipe explicou. E, começando com esta passagem da Escritura, anunciou-lhe a mensagem de Jesus.
36 And as they went along the way, they came to a certain water, and the officer said, Behold, water; what hinders my being immersed?
36 Seguindo pelo caminho, chegaram a certo lugar onde havia água. Então o eunuco disse: — Eis aqui água. O que impede que eu seja batizado?

37 [Filipe respondeu: — É lícito, se você crê de todo o coração. Então ele disse: — Creio que Jesus Cristo é o Filho de Deus.]
38 And he ordered the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the officer; and he immersed him.
38 Então mandou parar a carruagem, ambos desceram à água, e Filipe batizou o eunuco.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly conveyed away Philip, and the officer saw him no more: so he went on his way rejoicing.
39 Quando saíram da água, o Espírito do Senhor arrebatou Filipe, e o eunuco não o viu mais; e este foi seguindo o seu caminho, cheio de alegria.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus; and going on thence, he proclaimed the glad tidings in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
40 Mas Filipe foi visto outra vez em Azoto; e, seguindo viagem, evangelizava todas as cidades até chegar a Cesareia.
