¹ A song of the degrees. Many a time have they assailed me from my youth, so should Israel say;

¹ Cântico das peregrinações. Ah, como me perseguiram desde a minha juventude! Que o diga Israel.

² Many a time have they assailed me from my youth: yet have they not prevailed against me.

² Como me perseguiram desde a minha juventude! Mas não me puderam vencer.

³ Upon my back have ploughmen ploughed; they have drawn long their furrows:

³ Lavraram sobre o meu dorso os lavradores, nele abriram longos sulcos.

⁴ Yet the Lord is righteous; he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

⁴ Mas o Senhor é justo, ele cortou as correias com que me afligiram os maus.

⁵ May all be put to shame and turned backward that hate Zion;

⁵ Sejam confundidos e recuem todos os que odeiam Sião.

⁶ May they become like the grass of the roofs, which withereth before it is pulled up;

⁶ Que eles se tornem como a erva do telhado, que seca antes de ser arrancada.

⁷ Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor his arm he that bindeth sheaves.

⁷ Com ela não enche as mãos o ceifador, nem seu regaço quem recolhe os feixes.

⁸ Nor do they who pass by say, The blessing of the Lord be with you: we bless you in the name of the Lord.

⁸ Os que passam não lhes dirão: Desça sobre vós a bênção do Senhor! Nem: Nós vos abençoamos em nome do Senhor.
