1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built a mound all around about it.
1 Zedequias se revoltou contra o rei Nabucodonosor, da Babilônia. Então Nabucodonosor veio com todo o seu exército e atacou a cidade de Jerusalém no dia dez do décimo mês do ano nove do reinado de Zedequias. Eles acamparam fora da cidade e construíram rampas de ataque ao redor dela.
2 And the city was put in a state of siege until the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
2 Ficaram cercando a cidade até o ano onze do reinado de Zedequias.
3 And on the ninth of the month, when the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land:
3 No dia nove do quarto mês do mesmo ano, quando a cidade estava apertada pela fome, e não havia comida para o povo,
4 The city was broken into, and all the men of war fled in the night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the kings garden; while the Chaldeans were all round about the city;and the people went the way toward the plain.
4 os babilônios conseguiram abrir uma brecha na muralha da cidade. Embora eles estivessem em volta da cidade, todos os soldados israelitas fugiram durante a noite. Eles saíram pelo caminho do jardim do rei, foram pelo portão que ligava as duas muralhas e fugiram na direção do vale do Jordão.
5 And the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from around him.
5 Mas o exército dos babilônios perseguiu o rei Zedequias, alcançou-o na planície de Jericó, e todos os seus soldados o abandonaram.
6 And they seized the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they called him to account.
6 Zedequias foi preso e levado para o rei da Babilônia, que estava na cidade de Ribla. Ali Nabucodonosor pronunciou a sua sentença contra Zedequias.
7 And they slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.
7 Mataram os seus filhos na frente dele. Então Nabucodonosor mandou furar os olhos de Zedequias e prendê-lo com correntes de bronze; depois o levaram para a Babilônia.
8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, came Nebusaradan, the chief of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:
8 No dia sete do quinto mês do ano dezenove do reinado de Nabucodonosor, da Babilônia, Nebuzaradã, conselheiro do rei e comandante-geral do seu exército, entrou em Jerusalém.
9 And he burnt the house of the Lord, and the kings house; also, all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great mans house burnt he with fire.
9 Ele incendiou o Templo, o palácio do rei e as casas de todas as pessoas importantes de Jerusalém,
10 And the walls of Jerusalem round about did all the army of the Chaldeans that were with the captain of the guard tear down.
10 e os seus soldados derrubaram as muralhas da cidade.
11 And the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the deserters that had run over to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebusaradan the captain of the guard lead away into exile;
11 Então Nebuzaradã levou para a Babilônia as pessoas que haviam sido deixadas na cidade, o resto dos operários especializados e aqueles que haviam passado para o lado dos babilônios.
12 But from the poorest of the land the captain of the guard left some to be vinedressers and husbandmen.
12 Mas deixou em Judá algumas das pessoas mais pobres e as pôs para trabalhar nas plantações de uvas e nos campos.
13 And the pillars of copper that were in the house of the Lord, and the bases, and the copper sea that was in the house of the Lord, did the Chaldeans break up, and they carried the copper thereof to Babylon.
13 Os babilônios quebraram as colunas de bronze e as carretas que estavam no Templo e também o grande tanque de bronze. Então levaram todo o bronze para a Babilônia.
14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the knives, and the spoons, and all the vessels of copper wherewith they ministered, took they away.
14 Também levaram embora as pás e as vasilhas usadas para carregar as cinzas do altar. Levaram ainda as tesouras de cortar pavios de lamparinas, as vasilhas de queimar incenso e todos os outros objetos de bronze usados no serviço do Templo.
15 And the censers, and the bowls, the gold of the golden things, and the silver of the silver things, took the captain of the guard away.
15 Nebuzaradã levou embora tudo o que era feito de ouro ou de prata, incluindo as vasilhas pequenas e os pratos de carregar brasas.
16 The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord: the copper of all these vessels was too much to be weighed.
16 Não foi possível calcular o peso dos objetos de bronze que o rei Salomão havia feito para o Templo, isto é, as duas colunas, as carretas e o grande tanque, pois eram pesados demais.
17 Eighteen cubits was the height of the one pillar, and the capital upon it was copper; and the height of the capital was three cubits; and the wreathed work, and the pomegranates upon the capitals round about, were all of copper: and the same had the second pillar together with the wreathed work.
17 As duas colunas eram iguais, e cada uma tinha oito metros de altura, com um remate de bronze no alto, que media um metro e trinta de altura. Em toda a volta do remate havia um enfeite rendilhado e com romãs de bronze.
18 And the captain of the guard took Serayah the chiefpriest, and Zephanyahu the second priest, and the three doorkeepers;
18 Nebuzaradã, o comandante-geral do exército babilônio, também levou como prisioneiros Seraías, o Grande Sacerdote , e Sofonias, o segundo sacerdote, e os três outros oficiais de importância do Templo.
19 And out of the city he took one courtofficer that was appointed over the men of war, and five men of those that could come into the kings presence, who were found in the city, and the scribe of the chief of the army, who ordered to the army the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land that were found in the city:
19 Da cidade ele levou o oficial que tinha sido o comandante das tropas, cinco conselheiros do rei que ainda estavam lá, o oficial encarregado de alistar homens para o exército e mais sessenta homens importantes.
20 And Nebusaradan the captain of the guard took these, and conducted them to the king of Babylon to Riblah;
20 Nebuzaradã os levou ao rei da Babilônia, que estava na cidade de Ribla,
21 And the king of Babylon smote them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Chamath. So did Judah wander away into exile out of their land.
21 na terra de Hamate. Ali o rei mandou surrá-los e depois matá-los. Assim o povo de Judá foi levado como prisioneiro para fora da sua terra.
22 And as for the people that were left in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had left, he appointed over them Gedalyahu the son of Achikam, the son of Shaphan.
22 O rei Nabucodonosor, da Babilônia, colocou Gedalias, filho de Aicã e neto de Safã, como governador de Judá e o encarregou de todos aqueles que não haviam sido levados para a Babilônia.
23 And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedalyahu, they came to Gedalyahu to Mizpah; even Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, and Jochanan the son of Kareach, and Serayah the son of Tanchumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazanyahu the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
23 Os oficiais e os soldados israelitas que não se haviam entregado souberam disso e foram se encontrar com Gedalias em Mispa. Esses oficiais eram: Ismael, filho de Netanias; Joanã, filho de Careá; Seraías, filho de Tanumete, da cidade de Netofa; e Jazanias, de Maacá.
24 And Gedalyahu swore to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Be not afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans: remain in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it will be well with you.
24 Gedalias disse a eles: — Eu dou a minha palavra que vocês não precisam ter medo dos oficiais babilônios. Fiquem morando nesta terra, trabalhem para o rei da Babilônia, e tudo correrá bem para vocês.
25 But it happened in the seventh month, that there came Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and ten men with him, and they smote Gedalyahu, so that he died, also the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah.
25 Porém, no sétimo mês daquele ano, Ismael, filho de Netanias e neto de Elisama, que era da família do rei, foi até Mispa com dez homens, atacou Gedalias e o matou. Também matou os israelitas e babilônios que estavam ali com ele.
26 And then arose all the people, from small to great, and the captains of the armies, and went to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.
26 Então todos os israelitas, tanto os mais importantes como os mais humildes, junto com os oficiais do exército, saíram e foram para o Egito, pois estavam com medo dos babilônios.
27 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoyachin the king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach the king of Babylon in the year that he became king did lift up the head of Jehoyachin the king of Judah out of the prison;
27 No ano em que Evil-Merodaque se tornou rei da Babilônia, ele foi bondoso com o rei Joaquim, de Judá, e o libertou da prisão. Isso aconteceu trinta e sete anos, onze meses e vinte e sete dias depois que Joaquim havia sido levado como prisioneiro.
28 And he spoke kindly to him, and set his chair above the chair of the kings that were with him in Babylon:
28 Evil-Merodaque tratou Joaquim com bondade e lhe deu uma posição mais alta do que a dos outros reis que eram prisioneiros com ele na Babilônia.
29 And changed his prison garments: and he ate bread continually before him all the days of his life.
29 E assim deixaram que Joaquim tirasse as suas roupas de prisioneiro e vestisse as suas próprias roupas e comesse junto com o rei pelo resto da sua vida.
30 And his allowance was a continual allowance given him by the king, the necessary ration for the day on its day, all the days of his life.
30 E todos os dias, enquanto viveu, recebeu do rei uma pensão para o seu sustento.
