1 Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us; look, and behold our reproach.
1 Lembra-te, Senhor, do que tem acontecido conosco; olha e vê a nossa desgraça.
2 Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
2 Nossa herança foi entregue aos estranhos, nossas casas, aos estrangeiros.
3 We are orphans without father; our mothers [are] as widows.
3 Somos órfãos de pai, nossas mães são viúvas.
4 We have drunk our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.
4 Temos que comprar a água que bebemos; nossa lenha, só conseguimos pagando.
5 Our necks [are] under persecution; we are become tired [and] have no rest.
5 Aqueles que nos perseguem estão bem próximos; estamos exaustos e não temos como descansar.
6 We have given the hand [to] the Egyptians [and to] the Assyrians to be satisfied with bread.
6 Submetemo-nos ao Egito e à Assíria a fim de conseguirmos pão.
7 Our fathers have sinned [and are] dead; and we have borne their chastisements.
7 Nossos pais pecaram e já não existem mais, e nós levamos o castigo pelos seus pecados.
8 Servants have ruled over us: there was no one to deliver [us] out of their hand.
8 Escravos dominam sobre nós, e não há quem possa livrar-nos das suas mãos.
9 We got our bread with [the peril of] our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.
9 Conseguimos pão arriscando as nossas vidas enfrentando a espada do deserto.
10 Our skin became black like an oven because of the terrible famine.
10 Nossa pele está quente como um forno, febril de tanta fome.
11 They ravished the women in Zion [and] the virgins in the cities of Judah.
11 As mulheres têm sido violentadas em Sião, e as virgens, nas cidades de Judá.
12 Princes were hanged up by their hand; the countenance of the elders was not honoured.
12 Os líderes foram pendurados pelas mãos; aos idosos não se mostra nenhum respeito.
13 They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.
13 Os jovens trabalham nos moinhos; os meninos cambaleiam sob o fardo de lenha.
14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.
14 Os líderes já não se reúnem junto às portas da cidade; os jovens cessaram a sua música.
15 The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
15 Dos nossos corações fugiu a alegria; nossas danças se transformaram em lamentos.
16 The crown is fallen [from] our head; woe now unto us, for we have sinned!
16 A coroa caiu da nossa cabeça. Ai de nós, porque temos pecado!
17 For this our heart is saddened; for these [things] our eyes are become dim.
17 E por esse motivo o nosso coração desfalece, e os nossos olhos perdem o brilho.
18 Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.
18 Tudo porque o monte Sião está deserto, e os chacais perambulam por ele.
19 Thou, O LORD, [shall] remain for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.
19 Tu, Senhor, reinas para sempre; teu trono permanece de geração a geração.
20 Why should thou forget us for ever [and] forsake us for such [a] long time?
20 Por que motivo então te esquecerias de nós? Por que haverias de desamparar-nos por tanto tempo?
21 Turn us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as at the beginning.
21 Restaura-nos para ti, Senhor, para que voltemos; renova os nossos dias como os de antigamente,
22 For in stepping back thou hast rejected us; thou hast become very angry against us.:
22 a não ser que já nos tenhas rejeitado completamente e a tua ira contra nós não tenha limite!
