1 Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered and said,
1 Então Zofar, da região de Naamá, em resposta disse:
2 Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified?
2 “Será que todo esse palavrório vai ficar sem resposta? Por acaso, quem fala muito é quem tem razão?
3 Should thy lies make men be silent? Shalt thou mock, and shall no man make thee ashamed?
3 Jó, você pensa que não temos resposta? Pensa que as suas zombarias vão nos fazer calar a boca?
4 For thou hast said, My doctrine [is] pure, and I am clean before thine eyes.
4 Você diz que o seu modo de pensar está certo e afirma que é inocente diante de Deus.
5 But oh, that God would speak and open his lips against thee
5 Eu gostaria que Deus falasse e lhe desse uma resposta!
6 and that he would show thee the secrets of wisdom! For thou dost deserve double according to sound wisdom; and thou dost know that God has forgotten thee because of thine iniquity.
6 Ele lhe ensinaria os segredos da sabedoria, pois há mistérios na explicação das coisas. Assim, você veria que Deus o está castigando menos do que você merece.
7 Canst thou by searching find out God? Canst thou come unto the perfection of the Almighty?
7 “Você pensa que pode descobrir os segredos de Deus e conhecer completamente o Todo-Poderoso?
8 It is higher than the heavens; what canst thou do? It is deeper than Sheol; how canst thou know it?
8 O céu não é limite para Deus, mas você não pode chegar até lá; Deus conhece o mas você não conhece.
9 The measure of it [is] longer than the earth and broader than the sea.
9 Ele é maior do que a terra, mais vasto do que o mar.
10 If he cuts off, or shuts up, or gathers together, then who can hinder him?
10 Se Deus passar e prender alguém e o levar para ser julgado, quem o poderá impedir?
11 For he knows the vain men; and he sees the iniquity; will he not then understand [it]?
11 Deus conhece as pessoas que não valem nada; ele nunca deixa de ver as suas maldades.
12 The vain man shall make himself understood, though man is born [like] a wild ass's colt.
12 No dia em que os jumentos selvagens nascerem mansos, as pessoas sem juízo vão ter sabedoria.
13 If thou would prepare thine heart and stretch out thine hands toward him;
13 “Jó, vire o coração para Deus e ore com as mãos estendidas para ele.
14 if there is any iniquity in thy hand and thou dost put it far away and dost not consent that wickedness dwell in thy habitations,
14 Abandone o pecado que mancha as suas mãos e não deixe que a maldade more na sua casa.
15 then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; thou shalt be strongly established and shalt not fear;
15 Então você andará de cabeça erguida, puro, firme e sem medo.
16 and thou shalt forget [thy] misery [and] remember [it] as waters that passed away;
16 Você não lembrará dos seus sofrimentos, que serão como águas passadas que a gente esquece.
17 and [thine] age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
17 A sua vida brilhará mais do que o sol do meio-dia, e as suas horas mais escuras serão claras como o amanhecer.
18 And thou shalt trust because there is hope; [yea], thou shalt dig and sleep in safety;
18 Você viverá seguro e cheio de esperança; Deus o protegerá, e você dormirá tranquilo.
19 thou shalt lie down, and no one shall make [thee] afraid; and many shall make requests unto thee.
19 Quando você estiver descansando, nada o assustará; e muita gente virá lhe pedir ajuda.
20 But the eyes of the wicked shall consume themselves, and they shall have no refuge, and their hope [shall be] agony of the soul.:
20 Porém os maus olharão em redor desesperados e não acharão lugar para onde fugir; para eles a morte será a única esperança.”
