1 O LORD, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto Thee.
1 Ó Senhor , ouve a minha oração e escuta o meu grito pedindo socorro!
2 Hide not Thy face from me in the day of my distress; incline Thine ear unto me; in the day when I call answer me speedily.
2 Não te escondas de mim quando estou aflito. Ouve-me quando eu te chamar e responde depressa.
3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as a hearth.
3 A minha vida está desaparecendo como fumaça, e o meu corpo queima como se estivesse no fogo.
4 My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; for I forget to eat my bread.
4 Estou acabado como a grama que foi cortada e pisada; não tenho nem vontade de comer.
5 By reason of the voice of my sighing my bones cleave to my flesh.
5 Fico gemendo alto; sou apenas pele e osso.
6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am become as an owl of the waste places.
6 Sou como um pássaro em lugares desertos, como uma coruja numa casa abandonada.
7 I watch, and am become like a sparrow that is alone upon the housetop.
7 Não consigo dormir; sou como um pássaro solitário em cima do telhado.
8 Mine enemies taunt me all the day; they that are mad against me do curse by me.
8 Os meus inimigos me insultam o dia todo; aqueles que zombam de mim usam o meu nome para rogar pragas. as cinzas são a minha comida, e as lágrimas se misturam com a minha bebida. Tu me pegaste e me jogaste fora.
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,

10 Because of Thine indignation and Thy wrath; for Thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.

11 My days are like a lengthening shadow; and I am withered like grass.
11 A minha vida é como as sombras do anoitecer; vou secando como o capim.
12 But Thou, O LORD, sittest enthroned for ever; and Thy name is unto all generations.
12 Mas tu, ó Senhor Deus, és Rei para sempre; todas as
13 Thou wilt arise, and have compassion upon Zion; for it is time to be gracious unto her, for the appointed time is come.
13 Tu te levantarás e terás pena de Jerusalém. Já é hora de teres compaixão dela, a hora certa já chegou.
14 For Thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and love her dust.
14 Ainda que ela esteja destruída, os teus eles têm compaixão dela, embora esteja arrasada.
15 So the nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth Thy glory;
15 As nações temerão o Senhor ; todos os reis do mundo temerão o seu poder.
16 When the LORD hath built up Zion, when He hath appeared in His glory;
16 Quando o Senhor tornar a construir Jerusalém, ele mostrará a sua
17 When He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, and hath not despised their prayer.
17 Ele ouvirá o seu povo abandonado e escutará a sua oração.
18 This shall be written for the generation to come; and a people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
18 Que isso fique escrito para que os nossos descendentes saibam o que o e para que o louvem aqueles que ainda vão nascer!
19 For He hath looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;
19 Do seu lugar santo, nas alturas, o do céu ele olhou para a terra
20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;
20 a fim de ouvir os gemidos dos prisioneiros e libertar os que tinham sido condenados à morte.
21 That men may tell of the name of the LORD in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem;
21 Por isso, o Senhor Deus será louvado em Jerusalém, e a sua fama será anunciada ali
22 When the peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.
22 quando as nações e os reinos se reunirem para adorá-lo.
23 He weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days.
23 Ainda sou moço, mas Deus me tirou as forças e encurtou a minha vida.
24 I say: 'O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days, Thou whose years endure throughout all generations.
24 Ó meu Deus, tu que vives para sempre, não me leves agora, antes que eu envelheça!
25 Of old Thou didst lay the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of Thy hands.
25 No começo, criaste a terra e, com as tuas próprias mãos, fizeste o céu.
26 They shall perish, but Thou shalt endure; yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt Thou change them, and they shall pass away;
26 A terra e o céu vão acabar, mas tu viverás para sempre. A terra e o céu se gastarão como roupas. Tu os trocarás como se troca de roupa, e eles serão jogados fora.
27 But Thou art the selfsame, and Thy years shall have no end.
27 Mas tu és sempre o mesmo, e a tua vida não tem fim.
28 The children of Thy servants shall dwell securely, and their seed shall be established before Thee.'
28 Os nossos filhos viverão em segurança, e os seus descendentes terão sempre a tua proteção.
