1 I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of His wrath.
1 Eu sou aquele homem que viu a aflição pela vara do seu furor.
2 He hath led me and caused me to walk in darkness and not in light.
2 Ele me guiou e me fez andar em trevas e não na luz.
3 Surely against me He turneth His hand again and again all the day.
3 Deveras fez virar e revirar a sua mão contra mim o dia todo.
4 My flesh and my skin hath He worn out; He hath broken my bones.
4 Fez envelhecer a minha carne e a minha pele, quebrou os meus ossos.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
5 Edificou contra mim, e me cercou de fel e trabalho.
6 He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.
6 Assentou-me em lugares tenebrosos, como os que estavam mortos há muito.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot go forth; He hath made my chain heavy.
7 Cercou-me de uma sebe, e não posso sair; agravou os meus grilhões.
8 Yea, when I cry and call for help, He shutteth out my prayer.
8 Ainda quando clamo e grito, ele exclui a minha oração.
9 He hath enclosed my ways with hewn stone, He hath made my paths crooked.
9 Fechou os meus caminhos com pedras lavradas, fez tortuosas as minhas veredas.
10 He is unto me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places.
10 Fez-se-me como urso de emboscada, um leão em esconderijos.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; He hath made me desolate.
11 Desviou os meus caminhos, e fez-me em pedaços; deixou-me assolado.
12 He hath bent His bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
12 Armou o seu arco, e me pôs como alvo à flecha.
13 He hath caused the arrows of His quiver to enter into my reins.
13 Fez entrar nos meus rins as flechas da sua aljava.
14 I am become a derision to all my people, and their song all the day.
14 Fui feito um objeto de escárnio para todo o meu povo, e a sua canção todo o dia.
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, He hath sated me with wormwood.
15 Fartou-me de amarguras, embriagou-me de absinto.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, He hath made me to wallow in ashes.
16 Quebrou com cascalho os meus dentes, abaixou-me na cinza.
17 And my soul is removed far off from peace, I forgot prosperity.
17 E afastaste da paz a minha alma; esqueci-me do bem.
18 And I said: 'My strength is perished, and mine expectation from the LORD.'
18 Então disse eu: Já pereceu a minha força, como também a minha esperança no Senhor.
19 Remember mine affliction and mine anguish, the wormwood and the gall.
19 Lembra-te da minha aflição e do meu pranto, do absinto e do fel.
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is bowed down within me.
20 Minha alma certamente disto se lembra, e se abate dentro de mim.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
21 Disto me recordarei na minha mente; por isso esperarei.
22 Surely the LORD'S mercies are not consumed, surely His compassions fail not.
22 As misericórdias do Senhor são a causa de não sermos consumidos, porque as suas misericórdias não têm fim;
23 They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness.
23 Novas são cada manhã; grande é a tua fidelidade.
24 'The LORD is my portion', saith my soul; 'Therefore will I hope in Him.'
24 A minha porção é o Senhor, diz a minha alma; portanto esperarei nele.
25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him.
25 Bom é o Senhor para os que esperam por ele, para a alma que o busca.
26 It is good that a man should quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
26 Bom é ter esperança, e aguardar em silêncio a salvação do Senhor.
27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
27 Bom é para o homem suportar o jugo na sua mocidade.
28 Let him sit alone and keep silence, because He hath laid it upon him.
28 Assente-se solitário e fique em silêncio; porquanto Deus o pôs sobre ele.
29 Let him put his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope.
29 Ponha a sua boca no pó; talvez ainda haja esperança.
30 Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him, let him be filled full with reproach.
30 Dê a sua face ao que o fere; farte-se de afronta.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever.
31 Pois o Senhor não rejeitará para sempre.
32 For though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies.
32 Pois, ainda que entristeça a alguém, usará de compaixão, segundo a grandeza das suas misericórdias.
33 For He doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.
33 Porque não aflige nem entristece de bom grado aos filhos dos homens.
34 To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,
34 Pisar debaixo dos seus pés a todos os presos da terra,
35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
35 Perverter o direito do homem perante a face do Altíssimo,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
36 Subverter ao homem no seu pleito, não o veria o Senhor?
37 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
37 Quem é aquele que diz, e assim acontece, quando o Senhor o não mande?
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High proceedeth not evil and good?
38 Porventura da boca do Altíssimo não sai tanto o mal como o bem?
39 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a strong man because of his sins?
39 De que se queixa, pois, o homem vivente? Queixe-se cada um dos seus pecados.
40 Let us search and try our ways, and return to the LORD.
40 Esquadrinhemos os nossos caminhos, e provemo-los, e voltemos para o Senhor.
41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
41 Levantemos os nossos corações com as mãos para Deus nos céus, dizendo:
42 We have transgressed and have rebelled; Thou hast not pardoned.
42 Nós transgredimos, e fomos rebeldes; por isso tu não perdoaste.
43 Thou hast covered with anger and pursued us; Thou hast slain unsparingly.
43 Cobriste-te de ira, e nos perseguiste; mataste, não perdoaste.
44 Thou hast covered Thyself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.
44 Cobriste-te de nuvens, para que não passe a nossa oração.
45 Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.
45 Como escória e refugo nos puseste no meio dos povos.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.
46 Todos os nossos inimigos abriram contra nós a sua boca.
47 Terror and the pit are come upon us, desolation and destruction.
47 Temor e laço vieram sobre nós, assolação e destruição.
48 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water, for the breach of the daughter of my people.
48 Torrentes de água derramaram os meus olhos, por causa da destruição da filha do meu povo.
49 Mine eye is poured out, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
49 Os meus olhos choram, e não cessam, porque não há descanso,
50 Till the LORD look forth, and behold from heaven.
50 Até que o Senhor atente e veja desde os céus.
51 Mine eye affected my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
51 Os meus olhos entristecem a minha alma, por causa de todas as filhas da minha cidade.
52 They have chased me sore like a bird, that are mine enemies without cause.
52 Como ave me caçam os que, sem causa, são meus inimigos.
53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast stones upon me.
53 Cortaram-me a vida na masmorra, e lançaram pedras sobre mim.
54 Waters flowed over my head; I said: 'I am cut off.'
54 águas correram sobre a minha cabeça; eu disse: Estou cortado.
55 I called upon Thy name, O LORD, Out of the lowest dungeon.
55 Invoquei o teu nome, Senhor, desde a mais profunda masmorra.
56 Thou heardest my voice; hide not Thine ear at my sighing, at my cry.
56 Ouviste a minha voz; não escondas o teu ouvido ao meu suspiro, ao meu clamor.
57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon Thee; Thou saidst: 'Fear not.'
57 Tu te aproximaste no dia em que te invoquei; disseste: Não temas.
58 O Lord, Thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; Thou hast redeemed my life.
58 Pleiteaste, Senhor, as causas da minha alma, remiste a minha vida.
59 O LORD, Thou hast seen my wrong; judge Thou my cause.
59 Viste, Senhor, a injustiça que me fizeram; julga a minha causa.
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their devices against me.
60 Viste toda a sua vingança, todos os seus pensamentos contra mim.
61 Thou hast heard their taunt, O LORD, and all their devices against me;
61 Ouviste a sua afronta, Senhor, todos os seus pensamentos contra mim,
62 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their muttering against me all the day.
62 Os lábios dos que se levantam contra mim e os seus desígnios me são contrários todo o dia.
63 Behold Thou their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their song.
63 Observa-os ao assentarem-se e ao levantarem-se; eu sou a sua música.
64 Thou wilt render unto them a recompense, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.
64 Tu lhes darás recompensa, Senhor, conforme a obra das suas mãos.
65 Thou wilt give them hardness of heart, Thy curse unto them.
65 Tu lhes darás ânsia de coração, maldição tua sobre eles.
66 Thou wilt pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of the LORD.
66 Na tua ira os perseguirás, e os destruirás de debaixo dos céus do Senhor.
