5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Tatáꞌtsik i takudh kʼal na Dios, i kʼwajattsik ta páleꞌ abal ka tʼójontsi an Pulek Takʼix, i kidhtalábichtsik xi tʼokat ani i dhabalábichtsik kʼal na Dios. I takudhtsik kʼal na Dios abal ka tʼilaꞌ xowaꞌ labidh xin tʼajál na Dios. Jechéꞌ na Dios, jaꞌich xi ti káldhaꞌtsik ban jikʼwaxtaláb xon ta kʼwajattsikwiꞌik ani ti kʼwajbaꞌtsik bin labidh tajáx.
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Tatáꞌtsik yabwiꞌik i exlábtsik kʼal na Dios, por xoꞌ, i dhabalábichtsik kʼal Jajáꞌ. Yabwiꞌik a choꞌóbtsik max i kóꞌontsinal ti yajnantsixtaláb kʼal na Dios, por xoꞌ, a choꞌóbichtsik.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Kidháblábtsik xi tu kʼanidháltsik tʼajat, tatáꞌtsik a junwal jelti atiklábtsik xu watʼelkʼi ani kʼwajat ba jun i chabál xi yab jajáꞌtsik in dhabal. Tu pakabédháltsik abal yab ka walkaꞌ ki átátsik kʼal xowaꞌ xin kulbetnál na tʼuꞌúl, xi kʼwajat jelti max u péjéx kʼal na ejattal.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Kom i kʼanidhábichtsik kʼal an Okʼóxláb, yabich ka chʼikat tʼajaꞌtsik ni jun i awiltaláb xi techéꞌ ti kʼayꞌlá. Yab ka chʼikat tʼajaꞌtsik an pulek takʼix, kom púlek in tʼój in koꞌol techéꞌ ti kʼayꞌlá.

14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.

15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.

17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Tʼójontsixtsik, ka exbantsitsik xowaꞌ kin ulu na ajátiktsik, yab tokotkʼi xi alwaꞌ iniktsik ani u chalpantsix. Ka exbantsitsik jeye xi yabtsik alwaꞌ inik.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Pos alwaꞌ tʼajat max jun xitaꞌ kin kuxuy i yajtsiktaláb maske yab in walámal, kʼal tin kwentakʼi abal in kʼakʼnálich na Dios.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Pos max ka tʼajaꞌtsik jun xataꞌ yab alwaꞌ ani ki yajlombédhátsik kʼal jachanꞌ tin kwenta, ¿jantʼom alwaꞌtaláb neꞌech ka bachʼutsik maske ka kuxuy kʼal i chaꞌattaláb? Por max ki yajlombédhátsik abal a tʼajámal jun xataꞌ alwaꞌ, jechéꞌ alwaꞌ tʼajat tin tamét na Dios max ka kuxuy kʼal i chaꞌattaláb.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Na Dios ti takwyámaltsik abal ki xeꞌchintsik teye xan ti xeꞌchinék na Kristo, pos na Kristo in watʼnaꞌ i yajtsiktaláb kʼal tatáꞌtsik ta kwenta. Kʼal jechéꞌ, ti pidhaꞌtsik jun i okʼtsixtaláb abal jaꞌich ka wéwnaꞌtsik.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Jajáꞌ yab in tʼajám ni jun i walastaláb nibal in kʼambiyámal ni jun xitaꞌ;
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 tam ti odhbijyat, yab tókʼon kʼal i odhbijixtaláb; tam ti yajlombédhá, yab tomnaxin, tokot in kʼwajbaꞌ nin ejattal ba na Dios, xu lújundhom kʼal i lujattaláb.
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Na Kristo in júnaꞌ ni walab tam ti chemdhá pajkʼidh ban peltsidh teꞌ abal ku kʼwajách jelti max chemnek abal an walastaláb ani ku kʼwajách lujat. Jajáꞌ in watʼnaꞌ i yajtsiktaláb abal ki wékʼontsatichtsik an ta walab.
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Pos tatáꞌtsik i xeꞌechwiꞌik jelti borregotsik xi kʼibchonék, por xoꞌ, i utenekichtsik ba na Kristo xi ti belkómichtsik jelt xan tu belkol jun i belkol borrego ani ti belkómtsaltsik jeye ta ejattaltsik.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
