1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid to giue instruction. When Doeg the Edomite came and shewed Saul, and saide to him, Dauid is come to the house of Abimelech. Why boastest thou thy selfe in thy wickednesse, O man of power? the louing kindenesse of God indureth dayly.
1 Por que te glorias na maldade, ó homem poderoso? Pois a bondade de Deus dura para sempre.
2 Thy tongue imagineth mischiefe, and is like a sharpe rasor, that cutteth deceitfully.
2 A tua língua urde planos de destruição; é qual navalha afiada, ó praticadora de enganos!
3 Thou doest loue euill more then good, and lies more then to speake the trueth. Selah.
3 Amas o mal antes que o bem; preferes mentir a falar retamente.
4 Thou louest all wordes that may destroye, O deceitfull tongue!
4 Amas todas as palavras devoradoras, ó língua fraudulenta!
5 So shall God destroy thee for euer: he shall take thee and plucke thee out of thy tabernacle, and roote thee out of ye land of the liuing. Selah.
5 Também Deus te destruirá para sempre; há de arrebatar-te e arrancar-te da tua tenda e te extirpará da terra dos viventes.
6 The righteous also shall see it, and feare, and shall laugh at him, saying,
6 Os justos hão de ver tudo isso, temerão e se rirão dele, dizendo:
7 Beholde the man that tooke not God for his strength, but trusted vnto the multitude of his riches, and put his strength in his malice.
7 Eis o homem que não fazia de Deus a sua fortaleza; antes, confiava na abundância dos seus próprios bens e na sua perversidade se fortalecia.
8 But I shall bee like a greene oliue tree in the house of God: for I trusted in the mercie of God for euer and euer.
8 Quanto a mim, porém, sou como a oliveira verdejante, na Casa de Deus; confio na misericórdia de Deus para todo o sempre.
9 I will alway praise thee, for that thou hast done this, and I will hope in thy Name, because it is good before thy Saints.
9 Dar-te-ei graças para sempre, porque assim o fizeste; na presença dos teus fiéis, esperarei no teu nome, porque é bom.
