¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. The heauens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth ye worke of his hands.

¹ Ao mestre de canto. Salmo de Davi. Narram os céus a glória de Deus, e o firmamento anuncia a obra de suas mãos.

² Day vnto day vttereth the same, and night vnto night teacheth knowledge.

² O dia ao outro transmite essa mensagem, e uma noite à outra a repete.

³ There is no speach nor language, where their voyce is not heard.

³ Não é uma língua nem são palavras, cujo sentido não se perceba,

⁴ Their line is gone forth through all the earth, and their words into the endes of the world: in them hath he set a tabernacle for the sunne.

⁴ porque por toda a terra se espalha o seu ruído, e até os confins do mundo a sua voz; aí armou Deus para o sol uma tenda.

⁵ Which commeth forth as a bridegrome out of his chamber, and reioyceth like a mightie man to runne his race.

⁵ E este, qual esposo que sai do seu tálamo, exulta, como um gigante, a percorrer seu caminho.

⁶ His going out is from the ende of the heauen, and his compasse is vnto the endes of ye same, and none is hid from the heate thereof.

⁶ Sai de um extremo do céu, e no outro termina o seu curso; nada se furta ao seu calor.

⁷ The Lawe of the Lord is perfite, conuerting the soule: the testimonie of the Lord is sure, and giueth wisedome vnto the simple.

⁷ A lei do Senhor é perfeita, reconforta a alma; a ordem do Senhor é segura, instrui o simples.

⁸ The statutes of the Lord are right and reioyce the heart: the commandement of the Lord is pure, and giueth light vnto the eyes.

⁸ Os preceitos do Senhor são retos, deleitam o coração; o mandamento do Senhor é luminoso, esclarece os olhos.

⁹ The feare of the Lord is cleane, and indureth for euer: the iudgements of the Lord are trueth: they are righteous altogether,

⁹ O temor do Senhor é puro, subsiste eternamente; os juízos do Senhor são verdadeiros, todos igualmente justos.

¹⁰ And more to be desired then golde, yea, then much fine golde: sweeter also then honie and the honie combe.

¹⁰ Mais desejáveis que o ouro, que uma barra de ouro fino; mais doces que o mel, que o puro mel dos favos.

¹¹ Moreouer by them is thy seruant made circumspect, and in keeping of them there is great reward.

¹¹ Ainda que vosso servo neles atente, guardando-os com todo o cuidado;

¹² Who can vnderstand his faultes? clense me from secret fautes.

¹² quem pode, entretanto, ver as próprias faltas? Purificai-me das que me são ocultas.

¹³ Keepe thy seruant also from presumptuous sinnes: let them not reigne ouer me: so shall I be vpright, and made cleane from much wickednes.

¹³ Preservai, também, vosso servo do orgulho; não domine ele sobre mim, então serei íntegro e limpo de falta grave.

¹⁴ Let the wordes of my mouth, and the meditation of mine heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

¹⁴ Aceitai as palavras de meus lábios e os pensamentos de meu coração, na vossa presença, Senhor, minha rocha e meu redentor.
