1 THE PARABLE OF SALOMON. A wise sonne maketh a glad father: but a foolish sonne is an heauines to his mother.
1 Provérbios de Salomão. O filho sábio alegra a seu pai, mas o filho louco é a tristeza de sua mãe.
2 The treasures of wickednesse profite nothing: but righteousnesse deliuereth from death.
2 Os tesouros da impiedade de nada aproveitam; mas a justiça livra da morte.
3 The Lord will not famish the soule of the righteous: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
3 O Senhor não deixa ter fome a alma do justo, mas o desejo dos ímpios rechaça.
4 A slouthfull hand maketh poore: but the hand of the diligent maketh riche.
4 O que trabalha com mão enganosa empobrece, mas a mão dos diligentes enriquece.
5 He that gathereth in sommer, is the sonne of wisdome: but he that sleepeth in haruest, is the sonne of confusion.
5 O que ajunta no verão é filho sábio, mas o que dorme na sega é filho que envergonha.
6 Blessings are vpon the head of the righteous: but iniquitie shall couer the mouth of the wicked.
6 Bênçãos há sobre a cabeça do justo, mas a violência cobre a boca dos ímpios.
7 The memoriall of the iust shalbe blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rotte.
7 A memória do justo é abençoada, mas o nome dos ímpios apodrecerá.
8 The wise in heart will receiue commandements: but the foolish in talke shalbe beaten.
8 O sábio de coração aceita os mandamentos, mas o louco palrador será transtornado.
9 He that walketh vprightly, walketh boldely: but he that peruerteth his wayes, shalbe knowen.
9 Quem anda em sinceridade anda seguro, mas o que perverte os seus caminhos será conhecido.
10 He that winketh with the eye, worketh sorowe, and he yet is foolish in talke, shalbe beaten.
10 O que acena com os olhos dá dores, e o tolo de lábios será transtornado.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a welspring of life: but iniquitie couereth the mouth of the wicked.
11 A boca do justo é manancial de vida, mas a violência cobre a boca dos ímpios.
12 Hatred stirreth vp contentions: but loue couereth all trespasses.
12 O ódio excita contendas, mas o amor cobre todas as transgressões.
13 In the lippes of him that hath vnderstanding wisdome is founde, and a rod shalbe for the backe of him that is destitute of wisedome.
13 Nos lábios do sábio se acha a sabedoria, mas a vara é para as costas do falto de entendimento.
14 Wise men lay vp knowledge: but ye mouth of the foole is a present destruction.
14 Os sábios escondem a sabedoria, mas a boca do tolo é uma destruição.
15 The riche mans goodes are his strong citie: but the feare of the needie is their pouertie.
15 A fazenda do rico é a cidade da sua fortaleza; a destruição dos pobres é a sua pobreza.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: but the reuenues of the wicked to sinne.
16 A obra do justo conduz à vida, as produções do ímpio, ao pecado.
17 He that regardeth instruction, is in the way of life: but he that refuseth correction, goeth out of the way.
17 O caminho para a vida é daquele que guarda a correção, mas o que abandona a repreensão erra.
18 He that dissembleth hatred with lying lips, and he that inuenteth slaunder, is a foole.
18 O que encobre o ódio tem lábios falsos, e o que difama é um insensato.
19 In many wordes there cannot want iniquitie: but he that refrayneth his lippes, is wise.
19 Na multidão de palavras não falta transgressão, mas o que modera os seus lábios é prudente.
20 The tongue of the iust man is as fined siluer: but the heart of the wicked is litle worth.
20 Prata escolhida é a língua do justo; o coração dos ímpios é de nenhum preço.
21 The lippes of the righteous doe feede many: but fooles shall die for want of wisedome.
21 Os lábios do justo apascentam muitos, mas os tolos, por falta de entendimento, morrem.
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh riche, and he doeth adde no sorowes with it.
22 A bênção do Senhor é que enriquece, e ele não acrescenta dores.
23 It is as a pastime to a foole to doe wickedly: but wisedome is vnderstanding to a man.
23 Um divertimento é para o tolo praticar a iniquidade; para o homem inteligente, o mesmo é o ser sábio.
24 That which the wicked feareth, shall come vpon him: but God wil graunt the desire of the righteous.
24 O temor do ímpio virá sobre ele, mas o desejo dos justos Deus o cumprirá.
25 As the whirlewinde passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is as an euerlasting foundation.
25 Como a tempestade, assim passa o ímpio, mas o justo tem perpétuo fundamento.
26 As vineger is to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the slouthful to them that send him.
26 Como vinagre para os dentes, como fumaça para os olhos, assim é o preguiçoso para aqueles que o mandam.
27 The feare of the Lord increaseth the dayes: but the yeeres of the wicked shalbe diminished.
27 O temor do Senhor aumenta os dias, mas os anos dos ímpios serão abreviados.
28 The patient abiding of the righteous shall be gladnesse: but the hope of the wicked shall perish.
28 A esperança dos justos é alegria, mas a expectação dos ímpios perecerá.
29 The way of the Lord is strength to the vpright man: but feare shall be for the workers of iniquitie.
29 O caminho do Senhor é fortaleza para os retos, mas ruína virá aos que praticam a iniquidade.
30 The righteous shall neuer be remooued: but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
30 O justo nunca será abalado, mas os ímpios não habitarão a terra.
31 The mouth of the iust shall be fruitfull in wisdome: but the tongue of the froward shall be cut out.
31 A boca do justo produz sabedoria em abundância, mas a língua da perversidade será desarraigada.
32 The lips of the righteous knowe what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh froward things.
32 Os lábios do justo sabem o que agrada, mas a boca dos ímpios anda cheia de perversidades.
