1 THE PARABLE OF SALOMON. A wise sonne maketh a glad father: but a foolish sonne is an heauines to his mother.
1 Provérbios de Salomão. O filho sábio alegra a seu pai, mas o filho insensato é a tristeza de sua mãe.
2 The treasures of wickednesse profite nothing: but righteousnesse deliuereth from death.
2 Os tesouros da impiedade de nada aproveitam, mas a justiça livra da morte.
3 The Lord will not famish the soule of the righteous: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
3 O Senhor não deixa ter fome o justo, mas rechaça a avidez dos perversos.
4 A slouthfull hand maketh poore: but the hand of the diligent maketh riche.
4 O que trabalha com mão remissa empobrece, mas a mão dos diligentes vem a enriquecer-se.
5 He that gathereth in sommer, is the sonne of wisdome: but he that sleepeth in haruest, is the sonne of confusion.
5 O que ajunta no verão é filho sábio, mas o que dorme na sega é filho que envergonha.
6 Blessings are vpon the head of the righteous: but iniquitie shall couer the mouth of the wicked.
6 Sobre a cabeça do justo há bênçãos, mas na boca dos perversos mora a violência.
7 The memoriall of the iust shalbe blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rotte.
7 A memória do justo é abençoada, mas o nome dos perversos cai em podridão.
8 The wise in heart will receiue commandements: but the foolish in talke shalbe beaten.
8 O sábio de coração aceita os mandamentos, mas o insensato de lábios vem a arruinar-se.
9 He that walketh vprightly, walketh boldely: but he that peruerteth his wayes, shalbe knowen.
9 Quem anda em integridade anda seguro, mas o que perverte os seus caminhos será conhecido.
10 He that winketh with the eye, worketh sorowe, and he yet is foolish in talke, shalbe beaten.
10 O que acena com os olhos traz desgosto, e o insensato de lábios vem a arruinar-se.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a welspring of life: but iniquitie couereth the mouth of the wicked.
11 A boca do justo é manancial de vida, mas na boca dos perversos mora a violência.
12 Hatred stirreth vp contentions: but loue couereth all trespasses.
12 O ódio excita contendas, mas o amor cobre todas as transgressões.
13 In the lippes of him that hath vnderstanding wisdome is founde, and a rod shalbe for the backe of him that is destitute of wisedome.
13 Nos lábios do prudente, se acha sabedoria, mas a vara é para as costas do falto de senso.
14 Wise men lay vp knowledge: but ye mouth of the foole is a present destruction.
14 Os sábios entesouram o conhecimento, mas a boca do néscio é uma ruína iminente.
15 The riche mans goodes are his strong citie: but the feare of the needie is their pouertie.
15 Os bens do rico são a sua cidade forte; a pobreza dos pobres é a sua ruína.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: but the reuenues of the wicked to sinne.
16 A obra do justo conduz à vida, e o rendimento do perverso, ao pecado.
17 He that regardeth instruction, is in the way of life: but he that refuseth correction, goeth out of the way.
17 O caminho para a vida é de quem guarda o ensino, mas o que abandona a repreensão anda errado.
18 He that dissembleth hatred with lying lips, and he that inuenteth slaunder, is a foole.
18 O que retém o ódio é de lábios falsos, e o que difama é insensato.
19 In many wordes there cannot want iniquitie: but he that refrayneth his lippes, is wise.
19 No muito falar não falta transgressão, mas o que modera os lábios é prudente.
20 The tongue of the iust man is as fined siluer: but the heart of the wicked is litle worth.
20 Prata escolhida é a língua do justo, mas o coração dos perversos vale mui pouco.
21 The lippes of the righteous doe feede many: but fooles shall die for want of wisedome.
21 Os lábios do justo apascentam a muitos, mas, por falta de senso, morrem os tolos.
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh riche, and he doeth adde no sorowes with it.
22 A bênção do Senhor enriquece, e, com ela, ele não traz desgosto.
23 It is as a pastime to a foole to doe wickedly: but wisedome is vnderstanding to a man.
23 Para o insensato, praticar a maldade é divertimento; para o homem inteligente, o ser sábio.
24 That which the wicked feareth, shall come vpon him: but God wil graunt the desire of the righteous.
24 Aquilo que teme o perverso, isso lhe sobrevém, mas o anelo dos justos Deus o cumpre.
25 As the whirlewinde passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is as an euerlasting foundation.
25 Como passa a tempestade, assim desaparece o perverso, mas o justo tem perpétuo fundamento.
26 As vineger is to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the slouthful to them that send him.
26 Como vinagre para os dentes e fumaça para os olhos, assim é o preguiçoso para aqueles que o mandam.
27 The feare of the Lord increaseth the dayes: but the yeeres of the wicked shalbe diminished.
27 O temor do Senhor prolonga os dias da vida, mas os anos dos perversos serão abreviados.
28 The patient abiding of the righteous shall be gladnesse: but the hope of the wicked shall perish.
28 A esperança dos justos é alegria, mas a expectação dos perversos perecerá.
29 The way of the Lord is strength to the vpright man: but feare shall be for the workers of iniquitie.
29 O caminho do Senhor é fortaleza para os íntegros, mas ruína aos que praticam a iniquidade.
30 The righteous shall neuer be remooued: but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
30 O justo jamais será abalado, mas os perversos não habitarão a terra.
31 The mouth of the iust shall be fruitfull in wisdome: but the tongue of the froward shall be cut out.
31 A boca do justo produz sabedoria, mas a língua da perversidade será desarraigada.
32 The lips of the righteous knowe what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh froward things.
32 Os lábios do justo sabem o que agrada, mas a boca dos perversos, somente o mal.
