1 Cast thy bread vpon the waters: for after many daies thou shalt finde it.
1 Atire o seu pão sobre as águas, e depois de muitos dias você tornará a encontrá-lo.
2 Giue a portion to seuen, and also to eight: for thou knowest not what euill shalbe vpon ye earth.
2 Reparta o que você tem com sete, até mesmo com oito, pois você não sabe que desgraça poderá cair sobre a terra.
3 If the clouds be full, they wil powre forth raine vpon the earth: and if the tree doe fall toward the South, or toward the North, in the place that the tree falleth, there it shalbe.
3 Quando as nuvens estão cheias de água, derramam chuva sobre a terra. Quer uma árvore caia para o sul quer para o norte, no lugar em que cair ficará.
4 He that obserueth ye winde, shall not sow, and he that regardeth the cloudes, shall not reape.
4 Quem observa o vento não plantará; e quem olha para as nuvens não colherá.
5 As thou knowest not which is ye way of the spirit, nor how the bones doe growe in the wombe of her that is with child: so thou knowest not the worke of God that worketh all.
5 Assim como você não conhece o caminho do vento, nem como o corpo é formado no ventre de uma mulher, também não pode compreender as obras de Deus, o Criador de todas as coisas.
6 In the morning sowe thy seede, and in the euening let not thine hand rest: for thou knowest not whither shall prosper, this or that, or whether both shalbe a like good.
6 Plante de manhã a sua semente, e mesmo ao entardecer não deixe as suas mãos ficarem à toa, pois você não sabe o que acontecerá, se esta ou aquela produzirá, ou se as duas serão igualmente boas.
7 Surely the light is a pleasant thing: and it is a good thing to the eyes to see the sunne.
7 A luz é agradável, é bom ver o sol.
8 Though a man liue many yeeres, and in them all he reioyce, yet hee shall remember the daies of darkenesse, because they are manie, all that commeth is vanitie.
8 Por mais que um homem viva, deve desfrutar sua vida toda. Lembre-se, porém, dos dias de trevas, pois serão muitos. Tudo o que está para vir não faz sentido.
9 Reioyce, O yong man, in thy youth, and let thine heart cheere thee in the dayes of thy youth: and walke in the waies of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but knowe that for all these things, God wil bring thee to iudgement.
9 Alegre-se, jovem, na sua mocidade! Seja feliz o seu coração nos dias da sua juventude! Siga por onde seu coração mandar, até onde a sua vista alcançar; mas saiba que por todas essas coisas Deus o trará a julgamento.
10 Therefore take away griefe out of thine heart, and cause euil to depart from thy flesh: for childehood and youth are vanitie.
10 Afaste do coração a ansiedade e acabe com o sofrimento do seu corpo, pois a juventude e o vigor são passageiros.
