1 Paul an Apostle of Iesus Christ, by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Iesus,
1 Eu, Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus pela vontade de Deus, enviado para anunciar a vida que ele prometeu por meio da fé em Cristo Jesus,
2 To Timotheus my beloued sonne: Grace, mercie and peace from God the Father, and from Iesus Christ our Lord.
2 escrevo esta carta a Timóteo, meu filho amado. Que Deus, o Pai, e Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor, lhe deem graça, misericórdia e paz.
3 I thanke God, whom I serue from mine elders with pure conscience, that without ceasing I haue remembrance of thee in my praiers night and day,
3 Dou graças por você ao Deus que sirvo com a consciência limpa, como o serviram meus antepassados. Sempre me lembro de você em minhas orações, noite e dia.
4 Desiring to see thee, mindefull of thy teares, that I may be filled with ioy:
4 Quero muito revê-lo, pois me lembro de suas lágrimas. Nosso reencontro me encherá de alegria.
5 When I call to remembrance the vnfained faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and am assured that it dwelleth in thee also.
5 Lembro-me de sua fé sincera, como era a de sua avó, Loide, e de sua mãe, Eunice, e sei que em você essa mesma fé continua firme.
6 Wherefore, I put thee in remembrance that thou stirre vp the gift of God which is in thee, by the putting on of mine hands.
6 Por isso quero lembrá-lo de avivar a chama do dom que Deus lhe deu quando impus minhas mãos sobre você.
7 For God hath not giuen to vs the Spirite of feare, but of power, and of loue, and of a sound minde.
7 Pois Deus não nos deu um Espírito que produz temor e covardia, mas sim que nos dá poder, amor e autocontrole.
8 Be not therefore ashamed of the testimonie of our Lord, neither of me his prisoner: but be partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel, according to the power of God,
8 Portanto, jamais se envergonhe de falar a outros sobre nosso Senhor. E também não se envergonhe de mim, que estou preso por causa dele. Com a força que Deus lhe dá, esteja pronto para sofrer comigo por causa das boas-novas.
9 Who hath saued vs, and called vs with an holy calling, not according to our workes, but according to his owne purpose and grace, which was giuen to vs through Christ Iesus before the world was,
9 Pois Deus nos salvou e nos chamou para uma vida santa, não porque merecêssemos, mas porque este era seu plano desde os tempos eternos: mostrar sua graça por meio de Cristo Jesus.
10 But is nowe made manifest by that appearing of our Sauiour Iesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortalitie vnto light through the Gospel.
10 E agora ele tornou tudo isso claro para nós com a vinda de Cristo Jesus, nosso Salvador, que destruiu o poder da morte e iluminou o caminho para a vida e a imortalidade por meio das boas-novas,
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and Apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
11 das quais Deus me escolheu para ser pregador, apóstolo e mestre.
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed: for I knowe whom I haue beleeued, and I am persuaded that he is able to keepe that which I haue committed to him against that day.
12 Por isso estou sofrendo assim. Mas não me envergonho, pois conheço aquele em quem creio e tenho certeza de que ele é capaz de guardar o que me foi confiado até o dia de sua volta.
13 Keepe the true paterne of the wholesome wordes, which thou hast heard of me in faith and loue which is in Christ Iesus.
13 Apegue-se, com fé e amor em Cristo Jesus, ao modelo do ensino verdadeiro que aprendeu de mim.
14 That worthie thing, which was committed to thee, keepe through the holy Ghost, which dwelleth in vs.
14 Pelo poder do Espírito Santo que habita em nós, guarde a verdade preciosa que lhe foi confiada.
15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia, be turned from me: of which sort are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
15 Como você sabe, todos os da província da Ásia me abandonaram, incluindo Fígelo e Hermógenes.
16 The Lord giue mercie vnto the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chaine,
16 Que o Senhor demonstre misericórdia a Onesíforo e sua família, pois muitas vezes me animou em suas visitas e nunca se envergonhou por eu estar na prisão.
17 But when he was at Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
17 Pelo contrário, quando veio a Roma, procurou-me diligentemente até me encontrar.
18 The Lord graunt vnto him, that he may finde mercie with the Lord at that day, and in how many things he hath ministred vnto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
18 Que o Senhor lhe mostre misericórdia no dia da volta de Cristo. E você sabe muito bem quanto ele me ajudou em Éfeso.
