1 Paul an Apostle of Iesus Christ, by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Iesus,
1 Eu, Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus pela vontade de Deus, que fui mandado para anunciar a promessa da vida que temos por estarmos unidos com Cristo Jesus,
2 To Timotheus my beloued sonne: Grace, mercie and peace from God the Father, and from Iesus Christ our Lord.

3 I thanke God, whom I serue from mine elders with pure conscience, that without ceasing I haue remembrance of thee in my praiers night and day,
3 Todas as vezes que lembro de você nas minhas orações, de dia e de noite, eu agradeço a Deus, a quem sirvo com a consciência limpa, como também os meus antepassados serviram.
4 Desiring to see thee, mindefull of thy teares, that I may be filled with ioy:
4 Lembro das suas lágrimas e quero muito ver você outra vez para que eu possa ficar cheio de alegria.
5 When I call to remembrance the vnfained faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and am assured that it dwelleth in thee also.
5 Lembro da sua fé sincera, a mesma fé que a sua avó Loide e Eunice, a sua mãe, tinham. E tenho a certeza de que é a mesma fé que você tem.
6 Wherefore, I put thee in remembrance that thou stirre vp the gift of God which is in thee, by the putting on of mine hands.
6 Por isso quero que você lembre de conservar vivo o dom de Deus que você recebeu quando coloquei as mãos sobre você .
7 For God hath not giuen to vs the Spirite of feare, but of power, and of loue, and of a sound minde.
7 Pois o Espírito que Deus nos deu não nos torna medrosos; pelo contrário, o Espírito nos enche de poder e de amor e nos torna prudentes.
8 Be not therefore ashamed of the testimonie of our Lord, neither of me his prisoner: but be partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel, according to the power of God,
8 Portanto, não se envergonhe de dar o seu testemunho a favor do nosso Senhor, nem se envergonhe de mim, que estou na cadeia porque sou servo dele. Pelo contrário, com a força que vem de Deus, esteja pronto para sofrer comigo por amor ao evangelho .
9 Who hath saued vs, and called vs with an holy calling, not according to our workes, but according to his owne purpose and grace, which was giuen to vs through Christ Iesus before the world was,
9 Deus nos salvou e nos chamou para sermos o seu povo. Não foi por causa do que temos feito, mas porque este era o seu plano e por causa da sua graça . Ele nos deu essa graça por meio de Cristo Jesus, antes da criação do mundo.
10 But is nowe made manifest by that appearing of our Sauiour Iesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortalitie vnto light through the Gospel.
10 Mas agora ela foi revelada a nós por meio do glorioso aparecimento de Cristo Jesus, o nosso Salvador. Ele acabou com o poder da morte e, por meio do evangelho, revelou a vida que dura para sempre.
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and Apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
11 Deus me escolheu como apóstolo e mestre para anunciar o evangelho.
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed: for I knowe whom I haue beleeued, and I am persuaded that he is able to keepe that which I haue committed to him against that day.
12 É por isso que sofro essas coisas. Mas eu ainda tenho muita confiança, pois sei em quem tenho crido e estou certo de que ele é poderoso para guardar, até aquele dia , aquilo que ele me confiou.
13 Keepe the true paterne of the wholesome wordes, which thou hast heard of me in faith and loue which is in Christ Iesus.
13 Tome como modelo os ensinamentos verdadeiros que eu lhe dei e fique firme na fé e no amor que temos por estarmos unidos com Cristo Jesus.
14 That worthie thing, which was committed to thee, keepe through the holy Ghost, which dwelleth in vs.
14 Por meio do poder do Espírito Santo, que vive em nós, guarde esse precioso tesouro que foi entregue a você.
15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia, be turned from me: of which sort are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
15 Você já sabe que todos os irmãos da província da Ásia, inclusive Fígelo e Hermógenes, me abandonaram.
16 The Lord giue mercie vnto the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chaine,
16 Que o Senhor seja bondoso com a família de Onesíforo, pois muitas vezes ele me animou e não teve vergonha de mim por eu estar na cadeia!
17 But when he was at Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
17 Pelo contrário, logo que chegou a Roma, ele me procurou até me encontrar.
18 The Lord graunt vnto him, that he may finde mercie with the Lord at that day, and in how many things he hath ministred vnto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
18 Que o Senhor dê a ele a certeza de que naquele dia ele receberá a sua misericórdia! E você sabe melhor do que eu o quanto ele me ajudou em Éfeso.
