1 Paul an Apostle of Iesus Christ, by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Iesus,
1 Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus pela vontade de Deus, segundo a promessa da vida que está em Cristo Jesus,
2 To Timotheus my beloued sonne: Grace, mercie and peace from God the Father, and from Iesus Christ our Lord.
2 a Timóteo, meu amado filho: Graça, misericórdia e paz da parte de Deus Pai e de Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor.
3 I thanke God, whom I serue from mine elders with pure conscience, that without ceasing I haue remembrance of thee in my praiers night and day,
3 Dou graças a Deus, a quem sirvo com a consciência limpa, como o serviram os meus antepassados, ao lembrar-me constantemente de você noite e dia em minhas orações.
4 Desiring to see thee, mindefull of thy teares, that I may be filled with ioy:
4 Lembro-me das suas lágrimas e desejo muito vê-lo, para que a minha alegria seja completa.
5 When I call to remembrance the vnfained faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and am assured that it dwelleth in thee also.
5 Recordo-me da sua fé não fingida, que primeiro habitou em sua avó Lóide e em sua mãe Eunice, e estou convencido de que também habita em você.
6 Wherefore, I put thee in remembrance that thou stirre vp the gift of God which is in thee, by the putting on of mine hands.
6 Por essa razão, torno a lembrar-lhe que mantenha viva a chama do dom de Deus que está em você mediante a imposição das minhas mãos.
7 For God hath not giuen to vs the Spirite of feare, but of power, and of loue, and of a sound minde.
7 Pois Deus não nos deu espírito de covardia, mas de poder, de amor e de equilíbrio.
8 Be not therefore ashamed of the testimonie of our Lord, neither of me his prisoner: but be partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel, according to the power of God,
8 Portanto, não se envergonhe de testemunhar do Senhor, nem de mim, que sou prisioneiro dele, mas suporte comigo os sofrimentos pelo evangelho, segundo o poder de Deus,
9 Who hath saued vs, and called vs with an holy calling, not according to our workes, but according to his owne purpose and grace, which was giuen to vs through Christ Iesus before the world was,
9 que nos salvou e nos chamou com uma santa vocação, não em virtude das nossas obras, mas por causa da sua própria determinação e graça. Esta graça nos foi dada em Cristo Jesus desde os tempos eternos,
10 But is nowe made manifest by that appearing of our Sauiour Iesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortalitie vnto light through the Gospel.
10 sendo agora revelada pela manifestação de nosso Salvador, Cristo Jesus. Ele tornou inoperante a morte e trouxe à luz a vida e a imortalidade por meio do evangelho.
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and Apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
11 Deste evangelho fui constituído pregador, apóstolo e mestre.
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed: for I knowe whom I haue beleeued, and I am persuaded that he is able to keepe that which I haue committed to him against that day.
12 Por essa causa também sofro, mas não me envergonho, porque sei em quem tenho crido e estou bem certo de que ele é poderoso para guardar o meu depósito até aquele dia.
13 Keepe the true paterne of the wholesome wordes, which thou hast heard of me in faith and loue which is in Christ Iesus.
13 Retenha, com fé e amor em Cristo Jesus, o modelo da sã doutrina que você ouviu de mim.
14 That worthie thing, which was committed to thee, keepe through the holy Ghost, which dwelleth in vs.
14 Quanto ao bom depósito, guarde-o por meio do Espírito Santo que habita em nós.
15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia, be turned from me: of which sort are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
15 Você sabe que todos os da província da Ásia me abandonaram, inclusive Fígelo e Hermógenes.
16 The Lord giue mercie vnto the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chaine,
16 O Senhor conceda misericórdia à casa de Onesíforo, porque muitas vezes ele me reanimou e não se envergonhou por eu estar preso;
17 But when he was at Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
17 pelo contrário, quando chegou a Roma procurou-me diligentemente até me encontrar.
18 The Lord graunt vnto him, that he may finde mercie with the Lord at that day, and in how many things he hath ministred vnto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
18 Conceda-lhe o Senhor que, naquele dia, encontre misericórdia da parte do Senhor! Você sabe muito bem quantos serviços ele me prestou em Éfeso.
