1 Paul an Apostle of Iesus Christ, by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Iesus,
1 Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus pela vontade de Deus, segundo a promessa da vida que está em Cristo Jesus,
2 To Timotheus my beloued sonne: Grace, mercie and peace from God the Father, and from Iesus Christ our Lord.
2 a Timóteo, amado filho: Graça, misericórdia e paz da parte de Deus Pai e de Cristo Jesus nosso Senhor.
3 I thanke God, whom I serue from mine elders with pure conscience, that without ceasing I haue remembrance of thee in my praiers night and day,
3 Dou graças a Deus, a quem desde os meus antepassados sirvo com uma consciência pura, de que sem cessar faço menção de ti em minhas súplicas de noite e de dia;
4 Desiring to see thee, mindefull of thy teares, that I may be filled with ioy:
4 e, recordando-me das tuas lágrimas, desejo muito ver-te, para me encher de gozo;
5 When I call to remembrance the vnfained faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and am assured that it dwelleth in thee also.
5 trazendo à memória a fé não fingida que há em ti, a qual habitou primeiro em tua avó Loide, e em tua mãe Eunice e estou certo de que também habita em ti.
6 Wherefore, I put thee in remembrance that thou stirre vp the gift of God which is in thee, by the putting on of mine hands.
6 Por esta razão te lembro que despertes o dom de Deus, que há em ti pela imposição das minhas mãos.
7 For God hath not giuen to vs the Spirite of feare, but of power, and of loue, and of a sound minde.
7 Porque Deus não nos deu o espírito de covardia, mas de poder, de amor e de moderação.
8 Be not therefore ashamed of the testimonie of our Lord, neither of me his prisoner: but be partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel, according to the power of God,
8 Portanto não te envergonhes do testemunho de nosso Senhor, nem de mim, que sou prisioneiro seu; antes participa comigo dos sofrimentos do evangelho segundo o poder de Deus,
9 Who hath saued vs, and called vs with an holy calling, not according to our workes, but according to his owne purpose and grace, which was giuen to vs through Christ Iesus before the world was,
9 que nos salvou, e chamou com uma santa vocação, não segundo as nossas obras, mas segundo o seu próprio propósito e a graça que nos foi dada em Cristo Jesus antes dos tempos eternos,
10 But is nowe made manifest by that appearing of our Sauiour Iesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortalitie vnto light through the Gospel.
10 e que agora se manifestou pelo aparecimento de nosso Salvador Cristo Jesus, o qual destruiu a morte, e trouxe à luz a vida e a imortalidade pelo evangelho,
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and Apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
11 do qual fui constituído pregador, apóstolo e mestre.
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed: for I knowe whom I haue beleeued, and I am persuaded that he is able to keepe that which I haue committed to him against that day.
12 Por esta razão sofro também estas coisas, mas não me envergonho; porque eu sei em quem tenho crido, e estou certo de que ele é poderoso para guardar o meu depósito até aquele dia.
13 Keepe the true paterne of the wholesome wordes, which thou hast heard of me in faith and loue which is in Christ Iesus.
13 Conserva o modelo das sãs palavras que de mim tens ouvido na fé e no amor que há em Cristo Jesus;
14 That worthie thing, which was committed to thee, keepe through the holy Ghost, which dwelleth in vs.
14 guarda o bom depósito com o auxílio do Espírito Santo, que habita em nós.
15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia, be turned from me: of which sort are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
15 Bem sabes isto, que me abandonaram todos os que estão na Ásia, entre eles Fígelo e Hermógenes.
16 The Lord giue mercie vnto the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chaine,
16 O Senhor conceda misericórdia à casa de Onesíforo, porque muitas vezes ele me recreou, e não se envergonhou das minhas cadeias;
17 But when he was at Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
17 antes quando veio a Roma, diligentemente me procurou e me achou.
18 The Lord graunt vnto him, that he may finde mercie with the Lord at that day, and in how many things he hath ministred vnto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
18 O Senhor lhe conceda que naquele dia ache misericórdia diante do Senhor. E quantos serviços prestou em Éfeso melhor o sabes tu.
