1 And Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, but he was ioyned in affinitie with Ahab.
1 Josafá tinha grande riqueza e honra, e aliou-se a Acabe mediante casamento.
2 And after certaine yeeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab slew sheepe and oxen for him in great nomber, and for the people that he had with him, and entised him to goe vp vnto Ramoth Gilead.
2 Alguns anos depois, ele foi visitar Acabe em Samaria. Acabe abateu muitas ovelhas e bois para receber a ele e à sua comitiva, e insistiu que atacasse Ramote-Gileade.
3 And Ahab King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with mee to Ramoth Gilead? And hee answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and wee will ioyne with thee in the warre.
3 Acabe, rei de Israel, perguntou a Josafá, rei de Judá: "Irás comigo lutar contra Ramote-Gileade? " Josafá respondeu: "Sou como tu, e meu povo é como o teu povo; estaremos contigo na guerra".
4 And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.
4 Mas acrescentou: "Peço-te que busques primeiro o conselho do Senhor".
5 Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
5 Então o rei de Israel reuniu quatrocentos profetas, e lhes perguntou: "Devemos ir à guerra contra Ramote-Gileade, ou não? " Eles responderam: "Sim, pois Deus a entregará nas mãos do rei".
6 But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?
6 Josafá, porém, perguntou: "Não existe aqui mais nenhum profeta do Senhor, a quem possamos consultar? "
7 And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.
7 O rei de Israel respondeu a Josafá: "Ainda há um homem por meio de quem podemos consultar o Senhor, mas eu o odeio, porque nunca profetiza coisas boas a meu respeito, mas sempre coisas ruins. É Micaías, filho de Inlá". "O rei não deveria dizer isso", Josafá respondeu.
8 And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.
8 Então o rei de Israel chamou um dos seus oficiais e disse: "Traga Micaías, filho de Inlá, imediatamente".
9 And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.
9 Usando vestes reais, o rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, estavam sentados em seus tronos, na eira, junto à porta de Samaria, e todos os profetas estavam profetizando em transe diante deles.
10 And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.
10 E Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, tinha feito chifres de ferro, e declarou: "Assim diz o Senhor: ‘Com estes chifres tu ferirás os arameus até que sejam destruídos’ ".
11 And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
11 Todos os outros profetas estavam profetizando a mesma coisa, dizendo: "Ataca Ramote-Gileade, e serás vitorioso, pois o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei".
12 And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.
12 O mensageiro que tinha ido chamar Micaías lhe disse: "Veja, todos os outros profetas estão predizendo que o rei terá sucesso. Sua palavra também deve ser favorável".
13 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.
13 Micaías, porém, disse: "Juro pelo nome do Senhor, que direi o que o meu Deus mandar".
14 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.
14 Quando ele chegou, o rei lhe perguntou: "Micaías, devemos ir à guerra contra Ramote-Gileade, ou não? " Ele respondeu: "Atacai, e sereis vitoriosos, pois eles serão entregues em vossas mãos".
15 And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?
15 O rei lhe disse: "Quantas vezes devo fazer você jurar que me irá dizer somente a verdade em nome do Senhor? "
16 Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.
16 Então Micaías respondeu: "Vi todo o Israel espalhado pelas colinas, como ovelhas sem pastor, e o Senhor dizer: ‘Estes não têm dono. Cada um volte para casa em paz’ ".
17 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?
17 O rei de Israel disse a Josafá: "Não lhe disse que ele nunca profetiza nada de bom a meu respeito, mas apenas coisas ruins? "
18 Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.
18 Micaías prosseguiu: "Ouçam a palavra do Senhor: Vi o Senhor assentado em seu trono, com todo o exército dos céus à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
19 And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.
19 E o Senhor disse: ‘Quem enganará Acabe, rei de Israel, para que ataque Ramote-Gileade e morra lá? ’ "E um sugeria uma coisa, outro sugeria outra, até que,
20 Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?
20 finalmente, um espírito colocou-se diante do Senhor e disse: ‘Eu o enganarei’. " ‘De que maneira? ’, perguntou o Senhor.
21 And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.
21 "Ele respondeu: ‘Irei e serei um espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os profetas do rei’. "Disse o Senhor: ‘Você conseguirá enganá-lo; vá e engane-o’.
22 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.
22 "E o Senhor pôs um espírito mentiroso na boca destes seus profetas. O Senhor decretou a sua desgraça".
23 Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?
23 Então Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, aproximou-se, deu um tapa no rosto de Micaías e perguntou: "Por qual caminho foi o espírito da parte do Senhor, quando saiu de mim para falar a você? "
24 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
24 Micaías respondeu: "Você descobrirá no dia em que estiver se escondendo de quarto em quarto".
25 And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,
25 O rei de Israel então ordenou: "Enviem Micaías de volta a Amom, o governador da cidade, e a Joás, filho do rei,
26 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.
26 e digam: Assim diz o rei: Ponham este homem na prisão a pão e água, até que eu volte em segurança".
27 And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.
27 Micaías declarou: "Se você de fato voltar em segurança, o Senhor não falou por meu intermédio". E acrescentou: "Ouçam o que estou dizendo, todos vocês! "
28 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
28 Então o rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, foram atacar Ramote-Gileade.
29 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.
29 E o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: "Entrarei disfarçado em combate, mas tu, usa as tuas vestes reais". O rei de Israel disfarçou-se, e ambos foram para o combate.
30 And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.
30 O rei da Síria havia ordenado a seus chefes dos carros de guerra: "Não lutem contra ninguém, seja soldado seja oficial, senão contra o rei de Israel".
31 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.
31 Quando os chefes dos carros viram Josafá, pensaram: "É o rei de Israel", e o cercaram para atacá-lo, mas Josafá clamou, e o Senhor o ajudou. Deus os afastou dele,
32 For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
32 pois, quando os comandantes dos carros viram que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de persegui-lo.
33 Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.
33 De repente, um soldado disparou seu arco ao acaso, e atingiu o rei de Israel entre os encaixes da sua armadura. Então o rei disse ao condutor do seu carro: "Tire-me do combate. Fui ferido! "
34 And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.
34 A batalha foi violenta durante todo o dia, e assim, o rei de Israel teve que enfrentar os arameus em pé no seu carro, até à tarde. E, ao pôr-do-sol, ele morreu.
